The Bid Catcher
The only thing Jeremy Brighton ever dreamed of was becoming a chef and owning a restaurant. Several unsuccessful attempts to fulfilling his dream take him back to Chicago, where he knows his restaurant business can flourish.
However, there’s a problem since the location of his neighborhood requires rejuvenation. A bachelor auction has been planned to raise the remaining funds needed to bring the neighborhood back to its glory.
They hope this will be the remedy to Southlake’s issue but never accept to be a bachelor in the auction. Can his stubbornness cost him the dreams of owning a restaurant?
Mama peaches is a community activist of the Southlake Park, and to raise money for the renovations, she and her partner Geraldine agree to sponsor a bachelor auction. All the young men she fostered and babysat decide to participate in the auction except her son, Jeremy, who isn’t for the idea. What’s she supposed to do as a mother?
Naima Grant relocated to Chicago for some reasons to spend more time with her granny, keep a distance from the life she had with her ex-husband, and get closer to her best cousin. She comes back after a failed marriage and bitter divorce. She hopes Southlake Park will be her lucky charm, especially after finding out she’ll spend more time with her childhood crush.
Naima has always had a crush on Jeremy, and as life sometimes does, it pushed them away when life took them to the opposite ends of the country and then later pulled them back together. Their friendship was genuine and beautiful to follow when Jeremy took a long to realize Naima’s feelings for him.
However, just like in childhood, her crush only sees her as a friend. Both Jeremy and Naima never admitted how they felt about each other. She has a plan to make the best of their time together without minding whether he is into her or not.
Later Jeremy agrees to help his mother with the bachelor auction with the condition that he will not be displayed as a bachelor. He was so self-conscious and never liked to be the center of attention due to childhood bullying for being overweight.
Naima is persuaded into helping Mama Peaches with the bachelor auction.
The story revolves around developing their friendship into lovers, and it’s not going to be a smooth journey. They met again when both were in a transition period of their lives. Jeremy is moving back home and trying to get the courage to start his own restaurant, while Naima is recovering from an abusive marriage.
Naima’s feelings for Jeremy aren’t new, and try to show him her interest in her way. The issue is that he’s unaware of her interest. Even though Jeremy seems to have no clue about Naima’s feelings, he still defends her when her ex comes harassing her.
Naima encourages Jeremy to leap of faith in his restaurant business and respects his decision not to be a part of the bachelor auction. It’s so amazing how the two childhood friends reconnect, and by the time everything is out in the open, there is no big shift in their relationship.
The story is entertaining, showing how people who cared for one another could not figure out how to express their feelings. There are hilarious moments that Mama Peaches and Geraldine will have you laughing out loud, leaving you in stitches.
The novel shows how sometimes one has to leave their comfort zone to get what one wants. Sometimes insecurities can make one believe a thing when it is the other way.
Her Essential Love
Letting go is never that simple for an earthly shop owner, Teegan Royal. Her neighborhood is not what it was earlier, and neither is her dwelling. The Park Manor complex ushered in change for her by introducing her to Kevin Chambers.
Teegan specializes in natural remedies and essential oils and soon finds herself at odds with lawyer Kevin residing at Park Manor. Teegan always opposes the changes she sees happening to her residence, while Kevin supports the changes and acts as a driving force of the changes.
She knows that she has much that she’s yet to encounter. Kevin is a litigation lawyer who can get corporations and people to stay settled all the time. However, his persuasive techniques haven’t been working on unconventional but sexy Teegan when it came to helping embrace the change.
Teegan wants Kevin to look beyond the bottom line, while Kevin wants Teegan to follow the flow. As things mix up, will they find out how important they are to each other?
The interactions and subtle chemistry between Kevin and Teegan are interesting. Their building relationship gave them the chance to take time to understand each other better. The story shows that sometimes all people need is to take a moment and look at things through someone’s eyes to understand them better.
It shows how sometimes the person you might be thinking causes you more pain is the key to your relief. It’s not until Kevin and Teegan get past the love-hate relationship that they can address their misconceptions and later realize they are feeling for each other.
They also realize that each is what the other needs in their life. The author shows that when one puts their differences aside, they get to know someone better and appreciate them. It’s interesting to see how Kevin and Teegan came together and built something strong from their chemistry.
The two were the complete opposite of each other, and in the beginning, you can’t picture them together even though they were meant to be. When they finally stop fighting what they felt, they see the need for one another.
Both spent much of the time annoying and ignoring each other but finally decided to stop going in circles.
