An Australian writer who’s been writing for a number of years now, the novelist Anne Gracie has become a leading figure within the industry. Writing romance and historical novels, sometimes a combination of the two, she is an award-winning author of worldwide acclaim. Not only that, but she has a lot of series under her belt as well, all of which are extremely popular as well, with her audience building day-by-day.
Early and Personal Life
Growing up always on the move, Anne Gracie’s parents were always traveling throughout her childhood. From Scotland to Malyasia, Greece to, finally, Australia, she saw and experienced a lot during her vibrant and colorful upbringing. This was something that weighed heavily on her work, as she always had a keen passion for the written word, taking in everything around her.
With her parents being teachers she went through a number of different schools during her childhood growing up. Throughout this entire time, though, she’d be constantly reading and writing herself, with an eagerness to read anything new. She also went to and graduated from university, something which would help provide her with tools needed for her career as an author.
Later she would become a teacher herself, before going on to fulfill her lifelong dream of being a full-time writer. She also worked as a counselor during this time prior to writing as well, something which would help provide her with an insight. This was also backed up by traveling herself and spending her summers working in camps helping others to start writing.
Still writing to this very day, she’s become a talented author now herself, using the skills she learned to create witty and engaging stories. Living in Melbourne in Australia she continues to write, with a new book or series constantly being produced. There’s no signs of her finishing anytime soon either, with a lot more titles set to be released on the horizon.
Writing Career
Publishing her first novel back in 2000, she made her entrance on to the literary scene with ‘Tallie’s Knight’. Setting the tone of what was to be the basis of much of her work to come, it was a romance novel in the classical mold. Establishing her presence, it understood the genre well, thus allowing her to develop on from it in the following years to come.
With over fives series in total to date, she’s remained a highly prolific writer throughout the many years of her career. Creating ‘The Merridew Sisters’, ‘Devil Riders’, ‘Regency Rakes’, ‘Chance Sisters’ and ‘Marriage of Convenience, she’s created her fair of franchises during her time. With these constantly being added to over the years, there’s a lot more to follow, as there’s plenty of room within these series for further titles.
Gaining critical acclaim as well as commercial success, she has received her fair share of awards over the years too. Shortlisted for a RITA award, she has also won the National Readers’ Choice Award and Australian Romance Writer of the Year Award not once, but twice. This has led to her becoming one of the most prominent voices within her industry, being respected by both her peers and contemporaries alike.
Understanding the romance genre well, she clearly knows her audience, as she ultimately gives them what they want. That’s not to say that she doesn’t infuse it with a unique sense of creativity, as she adds her own idiosyncratic take on the medium. Her sense of historical accuracy is also something to be admired too, as she definitely knows what she’s writing about, giving it all a heightened sense of realism.
Letting her characters do the talking, she’s become well known for creating realistic and engaging protagonists that resonate with the reader. Along with that, her narratives are juxtaposed well with this, setting up creative and gripping storylines that keep the audience guessing right until the very end. With a lot more to come in the near future, this isn’t something that’s going to be stopping anytime soon, as her writing career grows from strength-to-strength.
The Perfect Kiss
Originally brought out in 2007 on the 1st of January, this was initially released through the Berkley Sensation publishing label. Marking the fourth title in the ongoing series of ‘The Merridew Sisters’ franchise, this continues on from the previous novel in the series. Featuring many of the elements that made the previous installments work, it also has a number of new aspects to keep it interesting as well.
With a serious distrust of men, Grace Merridew has sworn off them completely opting to travel the world instead. Looking for adventure she must first go and help a friend of hers who’s in trouble, after they’re forced to marry Dominic Wolfe. Given that he stands to inherit her large family estate if he marries, this doesn’t look like the ideal relationship, and Grace despises bullying, especially when done by the nefarious Wolfe family. Will Grace resist his apparent charms? Can the marriage of convenience be stopped? What will become of them when he offers her the perfect kiss?
The Accidental Wedding
Initially published on the 5th of October in 2010, this was first brought out through the Berkley publishing label. Setting up the fourth title in the long-running ‘Devil Riders’ series of novels, this continues in much the same vein as before. With a lot of similar ideas and themes, it provides more of what readers have now come to expect from the franchise, whilst also not putting off newcomers in the process.
Awaking in a strange countryside home with no idea how he got there, the dashing rogue Nash Renfrew feels he’s dreaming after a traumatic accident. Finding himself in the bed of the beautiful Maddy Woodford, he finds he has amnesia as well whilst in the company of her and her five once orphaned children. Soon, though, he starts to remember his previous life as a diplomat, but quickly finds that he’s also reluctant to leave her side. Will he ever return to his old life? Can they ever hope to become a couple? What will become of the accidental wedding?
