The Last Witnesses
Originally brought out the ‘Healcroft House’ Publisher’s label, this would be the third title in the ongoing ‘Freddie and Kathy Mystery’ series of books. Providing another case for the duo to solve, it manages to capture the essence of the first two books, while offering a unique spin of its own. Initially released on the 28th of April in 2017, this would feature its own self-contained mystery, but it does bring over some character elements and arcs from before.
Set in the 1920s, this historical series of mysteries really makes the most of the time period that it’s placed within. Located in New York City, it features the editor Kathy Briscow and the millionaire author dilettante Freddie Little, as the come together to solve different mysteries. With many of the stories also taking place across America, it’s very much a period piece, with an intriguing premise and engaging characters.

Freddie’s sister, Honoria, discovers a body dead in her apartment, which disrupts the newly-married bliss of both Freddie and Kathy. The victim was someone that Honoria took in, but it’s a favor that now threatens her entire existence, as it seems there may have been more to the young woman than first met the eye. Now the three of them must solve a huge conspiracy while travelling across country, in a plot that may eventually see them all killed. Will they be able to solve it in time? Who was the victim really, and why was she killed? What will become of the last witnesses?

Death of the City Marshal
Coming out in 2019 on the 10th of May, this would be the second in the ‘Old Los Angeles’ series of historical novels. Published on the Kindle platform, it’s a series set within the 1870s, showing the city of Los Angeles attempting to maintain stability and order, as it becomes civilized in keeping with times. Following the character Maddie Wilcox, a doctor and winemaker, it sees her as she solves different cases, bringing various individuals to justice. Providing another historical mystery series, it shows close attention to detail, which, by this point had become almost a trademark for Bannon and her loyal legion of fans.

It’s 1870 and Maddie Wilcox has nursed the City Marshal back to health after a near lethal gunfight with Joseph Dye, the deputy, as violence erupts on the streets once more. Then, in the morning, Maddie discovers the Marshal to have been smothered in his sleep, leading her into a mystery featuring all those who wished him ill. It appears that the killer is looking to not just satiate a blood-lust though, but is also looking to keep their own home. Will Maddie be able to find the killer before it’s too late? What was really driving them to murder? Will she be able to discover who is behind the death of the City Marshal?
