The Shadow Thieves is the first novel in the Cronus Chronicles by Anne Ursu. If you are a young reader that is looking for something new to pick up, consider this book for young adults!

There’s a girl over there, one with red hair that is really bright and a backpack that is too stuffed with things. She has a mood that feels far too grumpy, and that is the character of Charlotte Mielswetzki. Something even more extraordinary is on the verge of happening to her as well, as the reader is about to find out.

This thing that happens is not the kitten that comes to her out of seemingly nowhere. It’s very cute, and it wants to return back home with Charlotte. She also sees Zee arrive and is happy to see her cousin, but finds out that he thinks that he is the main cause of a sickness that has been mysteriously making all of his friends in England ill.

It is not even her teacher, the Mr. Metos, who instructs them all in English and takes the mythology lessons that he is handing down seriously– very seriously. It isn’t the men dressed in fancy suits that have yellow eyes and white faces either, who appear to be devoted to following her around everywhere that she goes.

All of these events and occurrences are strange, but all of the events and the men and the teacher and her cousin are coming together and making everything so much more than it would be normally. She isn’t really sure what she would want to do, and then has to contend with a whole new scenario when she finds out that her friends are starting to get sick on their own too. Could it be related to the illness back in England that Zee was telling her about?

Charlotte decides that she is going to have to work with her cousin if she is going to be able to track down the type of cure that will make it all better. The journey will be full of adventure, but it will also take them to the Underworld. There they will have to face all sorts of creatures and challenges, including harpies as well as gods that have staffing issues and the ghosts that want blood.

The two quickly find that this world has all sorts of unique things and death, pain and nightmares all run about in here. There is also Phil, a guy that seems to be pretty dangerous in his own way. But when they find out that every person’s fate dead and alive turns out to be resting in their own hands, they really start to get freaked out.

Pick up this first book in the Cronus series and read to the very last mythical page to find out what happens and to catch all of the danger, magic and adventures for yourself!

The Siren Song is the second book in Anne Ursu’s Cronus Chronicles series. If you loved the magical and mythical events of the debut, then check out the second thrilling story too!

This young adult book takes place in a city and with a girl that both see very ordinary. However, the events that are about to take place are truly anything but that. Charlotte joined up with her cousin Zee and the pair of them have been saving the world together.

Not that big a deal, but it is when you’re pretty much just a kid! Life went back to being the same after that, but it was too much to deal with all of the monotony. No one knows that they’re heroes, and that’s okay. But they can’t tell people that gods are real or the Greek myths just have an influence and oh yeah, they just got back from Underworld.

The two fought a demigod and they have to keep everything they know to themselves. Things are quietly stirring up, and they’re going to have to deal with gods and demigods that want their due revenge.

The two are going to have to save themselves and not the world this time. Can they get it together in time or will their lives never be the same again? Pick up the thrilling second story in this series to find out!
