Annette Lyon is a USA Today bestselling author who has won the Whitney Award, and the Silver Quill, and is a 10-time Best of State medalist for short stories and novels in Utah.

Apart from her writing, she has had a lot of success working as a professional editor in technical, magazine, and newspaper writing, even though fiction writing has always been her first love.

Annette published “At the Water’s Edge” her first fiction work in 2004 and has never looked back since. She now has more than two dozen works of fiction to her name alongside a lot more which she has contributed to series by other novelists.
She is a regular contributor, founder, and original editor to the “Timeless Romance Anthology” series in addition to contributing to the “Newport Ladies Club” series.

Annette is also behind the online magazine “In Omnia Paratus,” which found its inspiration in “Gilmore Girls” the hit show.

She sometimes hosts “The Cultural Hall” show and is an active member of “The Historical Novel Society,” “The Women’s Fiction Writer’s Association,” and “International Thriller Writers.”

Lyon was in the second grade when she began writing her stories which she used to type on her mother’s typewriter. She got into it since Mel her older sister loved doing it and since she looked up to her she thought it must be cool.
In her teenage years, she continued writing and when she went to college at Brigham Young University, she majored in 19th-century literature and graduated with a bachelor’s in English.

What drove her to become an author was that she believed it would provide a great balance between her desire to become a stay-at-home mother and her wish to become a professional author.

She considers her official start to life as an author to have started on Labor Day weekend in 1994 which is when she sent in her first submission and soon after got her first rejection.
It was then that she got serious about her writing and she has written ever since..

Annette finds her inspiration for many of her projects from her Finnish heritage given that her mother is a Finn that was born and bred in Helsinki. In fact, she spent three years in Finland when she was a teen and learned to love the culture and language.

While she is now a full-time author, Annette Lyon is not the type to wake up in the morning to write. She has said that even though her parents were early birds, that gene seems to have skipped her generation as she just cannot wake up that early.
As such, Lyon usually spends her mornings doing tasks that do not need much brain power such as exercising, doing the dishes, and doing laundry before she gets down to write before her kids get back at about 2:30 pm.

She will sometimes head out to write at the library or at the bakery so that she will not be distracted by things such as housework. When she needs to beat her deadlines, she sometimes pulls in late nights.

When her kids were younger she used to get more creative and made use of the time she was doing brainless chores to pan what she would write when she had the next free forty-five minutes.

Most of her earlier novels were penned this way as she could crank out a 1500-word scene in the car waiting to drive carpool, in the lobby of the dance studio, in the rec center hall while doing gym class, or in the waiting room at the dentist.

Annette Lyon’s novel “Falling to Pieces” is a brilliant work of romance fiction that tells the story of Carter and Toni.

Toni would be content to have her life remain as it is, as she has a happy extended family, a great job at a dance studio, and Carter who has to be the perfect best friend.

When her father has a heart attack and has to be hospitalized, it seems that layers of her life are being peeled off one by one. She learns that her best friend is in love with her, has an eating disorder, and has to deal with a very rocky relationship with her father.
Carter will no longer wait for Toni to work on her issues, hoping she will one day fall in love with him, and as such, decides to walk away even though it is a very agonizing decision.
Toni will be lost without him but she will soon find out, given that if she cannot return his love, she may just lose him forever.

It is a thought-provoking and genuine love story that will make its readers cry, feel anxiety for Toni and Carter, and laugh their ribs out, as it brings you into the lives of the characters.

“Lost Without You” by Annette Lyon is an interesting novel that tells a beautiful romance story.
For several months, Brooke believed there was no one more fun, charming, and attractive than Christopher Morris. But in recent weeks, the man has been acting strangely as he is moody, controlling, and possessive.

Brooke feels that she will have to dump him but Chris takes it badly and while driving her home, he gets into a car accident. It is at the scene of the accident that she meets Greg Stevens the police officer.

But then she keeps meeting the man at the most unexpected times and it is not long before the two are an item. Greg tells her that he had been widowed a few years back and in fact, she is the first woman he ever looked at and wanted to date in years.
As she agonizes over whether he is the man for her given how much pain Chris has put her through, her ex makes a storming return to her life. Christopher has decided that if he cannot be with Brooke then no one else can.
It is a novel that will make you cry in some interesting ways but also makes you angry with how Christopher behaves and tries to cause Brooke much pain.

Annette Lyon’s “The Ultimate Bachelor Challenge” is a very interesting work that is unlike anything I have read in a long time.

When Steve her long-time boyfriend texts her saying that he intends to ask her something important on Valentine’s Day, Sam is sure that her boyfriend is about to propose.

Intending to look her best for the big day, she heads to the laundromat to get her favorite outfit cleaned. While her clothes are in the wash, Steve calls and asks a question she was not expecting.

Shocked by her boyfriend’s actions, she will have to spend Valentine’s Day all alone. But she is not all alone as at the laundromat is Connor, a guy leaning back on the washing machine and lost in his phone.
He has his own plans that may now just include Sam which makes for an intense read. It is a fun novella with some great characters and my only complaint is that it was far too short.
