Ashley Farley
Ashley Farley writes books about women for women. Her characters are sisters, moms, wives, and daughters that face real-life issues. Her goal is to keep you turning the pages until the wee hours of the morning. She feels she’s done her job if the story stays with you long after you have read the last word.
She has lived in Richmond, Virginia for most of her adult life, and it is a city she loves for its traditions and history. Ashley loves to travel, try out new recipes, garden, take pictures of God’s amazing creatures and the beautiful world that he created for us.
She is an exercise fanatic, channeling her restless energy through exercise enables her to settle down and focus on her world. She attends a circuit training class three days a week and plays tennis. However her true love is swimming. She plotted the majority of her novels while swimming laps.
Ashley’s favorite part of writing is the plotting aspect. She loves to disappear inside her own head and plan the scenes out and devises the paragraphs, sentences, and chapters.
When her brother died in 1999, she turned to writing as a form of releasing her pent up emotions. At this point, though, she can’t not write, since it is such a part of her life. So far, she has been lucky, and been able to find the inspiration.
She wrote “Saving Ben”, her first novel, as a tribute to Neal, the boy she loved and the man she couldn’t save. While it’s not a memoir, it’s a story about a close bond between sister and brother.
“Merry Mary” is the first novel in the “Scottie’s Adventures” series and was released in the year 2015. A young woman that longs to have a child stumbles upon a Christmas miracle.
Scottie Darden, an investigative journalist, is photographing the homeless for her Lost Souls series when she finds something which might change her life forever. Under a makeshift tent in subzero temperatures in a downtown city park, she discovers a woman’s corpse with her infant child.
Scottie, without her phone to call somebody for help, makes a split-second choice to take this baby home. Her initial instinct is to provide the child with shelter and food until her family can be located. However while her fondness for this baby increases, she finds herself facing a life on the run or even worse: prison time for abducting the child.
A heartwarming tale about the powerful connection between an innocent child in need and a caring soul.
“Her Sister’s Shoes” is the first novel in the “Sweeney Sisters” series and was released in the year 2015. This is the story of three sisters: Faith, Samantha, and Jackie that each struggle to balance the demands of family career while also keeping true to themselves.
Samantha Sweeney’s always been the glue which holds her family together, their go-to girl for support and love. When an ATV accident leaves her teen son in a wheelchair, she loses her carefully constructed self-control.
In the after-gloom of her dreaded fiftieth birthday and learning about her husband’s infidelity, Jackie realizes that she has to reconnect with her old self to find the happiness that she needs in order to move forward.
Faith lacks the necessary courage to stand up to her abusive husband. So she goes to her sisters for help, putting all of their lives at risk.
In the midst of their individual challenges, the Sweeney sisters have to cope with their mom’s mental decline. Is Lovie in the early stages of Alzheimer’s or could her strange behavior be normal for a woman her age? Nobody, including Lovie, understands her obsession with a rusty key that she wears around her neck.
“Boots and Bedlam” is the third novel in the “Sweeney Sisters” series and was released in the year 2016. Tis the season for chaos.
Wedding bells are soon going to be ringing in the Lowcountry. All that Sam Sweeney wants is just to marry her man on Christmas Eve surrounded by her friends and family. However some emerging complications, some humorous and some not so much, threaten to converge and derail the best-laid plans during the busy stretch between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Amid all the chaos, dealing with real estate, running a seafood market, planning a wedding, honoring traditions, and contending with teens. Even the weather rears its head when the weatherman forecasts a white Christmas. Never has family support been needed more than right now, however is it going to be enough to restore order and end up saving the day?
Escape to the Lowcountry this Christmastime, where intrigue, romance, and holiday merrymaking await you.
“Magnolia Nights” is the first novel in the “Magnolia” series and was released in the year 2017. Ellie Pringle has spent countless dollars and endless hours working with her therapist to recall the lost years of her childhood. She is baffled and more than just a bit intrigued when the grandma she has not seen in thirty-four years passes away and leaves her a fortune.
The time’s come to face her past in person. Ellie, while still reeling from her recent breakup of a long-term relationship, and without anything keeping her in San Francisco, packs up her meager possessions and boards the plane to head to the South Carolina Lowcountry.
While she stands in the entryway of her grandma’s antebellum home on South Battery Street in Charleston, she faces the first of many ghosts that’ll soon haunt her. During her first night in the creaking mansion, while she peruses the tomes in a dusty bookcase, she stumbles upon her dead mom’s leather-bound journal. Her mom’s words create further unanswered questions and they send her on a quest to locate more journals.
While Hurricane Lorene bears down on the South Carolina coast, she encounters Juan Hagood, who is a handsome architect that has the talent to restore her dilapidated mansion with the charm to fix her broken heart. However while Ellie reads her mom’s diaries, they dislodge a stone in the wall which safeguards all of her memories, and causes her world to come crashing down. The revelations about her childhood lead her on a harrowing journey of discovery.
