Ashlyn Chase is an award-winning author who specializes in creating characters who reinvent themselves, after having reinvented herself several times. Chase once served as a registered nurse for twenty years, during which she wrote articles for professional thesis and journals, but eventually discovered the freedom and joy of writing fiction. She considers herself lucky, and her degree in behavioral sciences is a combination of sociology and psychology and most of her life she’s spent studying people. In most cases she does not need to write tiresome character sketches in order to understand her character or maybe predict how they will behave. However this does not mean that her characters don’t surprise her, in some cases they take her into on Grand unexpected journeys.

Chase is popularly known as the author of Strange Neighbors series which made its debut in the publishing world in 2010. The second novel in the series is The Werewolf Upstairs published in 2011. Other series written by the same author include Flirting with Fangs Trilogy first featured in the market in 2013 when Flirting Under a Full Moon was published. Boston Dragons series subsequently made its debut in 2016 after I Dream of Dragon the first novel in the series was released.

Strange Neighbors

Merry is an adopted girl from Rhode living with her foster father and brother. She has had enough of the small town life and caring for her brother and her father and thus decides to relocate to a big city. All that she wants is independence. She is 25 years of age and feels that life is suffocating her from within, and she wants a bit of Sex and the City lifestyle. She has found the perfect place to begin her new life and immediately catches the eye of the man in charge, a hunky baseball player Jason Falco. On the other hand, Jason is not the American guy he seems to be, he is a shapeshifter and looking for that one unique and special person, and Merry might be what he wants after all.

Merry is a sweet and beautiful lady, and it is hard for anyone not to like her. Jason, on the other hand, is lusting after her. He wants something more simply because he needs something more when he is a shape shifter, and romance can be somehow hard not mentioning sex. The first time he asks Merry out on a date is turned down, to Jason he is shocked because no one has ever said no to him until now and things just got more exciting, and the whirlwind romance just began.

Soon Merry finds herself surrounded by a host of neighbors and cooky characters that have more than the usual going on behind their hinged doors. Strange Neighbor is an interesting read, the main plot and the story is a believable paranormal that is intriguing as well. The author, Ashlyn Chase does a good job by adding subplots and some side stories which help the readers understand and get to know more about the characters featured in the book. The romance that exists between Merry and Jason is one of the best you will read in a paranormal genre. How the relationship builds up and how the two characters mature is simply amazing. The dialogue the author incorporates in this paranormal is interesting; it will provide you with an added advantage of getting to know the characters thoughts, feelings and why some assume certain characteristics.

The characters, both main and the supporting characters are fantastic. You will love how some interact with each other and even find yourself relating some of the featured cast with your real life friends or next door neighbors. For instance, you will get to know John’s aunt who regularly calls the cops all the time; she is such a busy-body. Then there is the scary guy in the basement who by the looks is obviously a vampire. You will get to know of Konrad, who possesses werewolf tendencies and Nathan who for sure has something weird going on too. Then there is Chad, your neighborhood ghost who wants to keep his bachelor pant and haunts it. There are also two witches upstairs who apparently seem to be having mind-blowing sex all the time.

I Dream of Dragons

What I Dream of Dragons is the first novel in Boston Dragon series by Ashlyn Chase. In this book, we meet Rory and his siblings after escaping from their Irish home, and it seems that their luck is over until they make their way to Boston and find a bizarre but friendly apartment building. At last, Rory has a place he can call home. However there is one problem, his new hideout is also rented to a very annoying woman who is as stubborn as she is gorgeous and will not leave her rented apartment no matter how steamed Rory may be.

Amber McNally is a beautiful flight attendant and desperately needs this apartment, and not even a fire breather with some Irish charm or even good looks is going to make her vacate. Holing into their respective edges, a battle of determination ensues. Who will be the first to move out or will they give into their highly reactive chemistry and decide to make this unplanned living arrangement permanent once and for all?

I Dream of Dragons the first novel in Boston Dragon series by Ashlyn Chase is one fast-paced, a charming romantic comedy that will leave you smiling. Even though there is a conflict, and Rory and his siblings are in trouble, that takes a backseat, and the story focuses on Rory and Amber war. The romance kicks in after a bit of fighting between Rory and Amber.

The characters featured in this series are interesting and humorous as well. Rory is a dragon, handsome and also an infuriating Irishman. After getting kicked out of their ancestral land in Ireland together with his sisters, they never expected to find a place they could call home nor did Rory imagine he could get entangled in a burning passion.

You will love the engaging conversations and dialogues that the author incorporates in this first book, as they will keep you glued to the pages as they are entertaining as well. If you love paranormal romance novels, then the addition of Ashlyn Chase books into your book library would be a great move to make.
