Like many other authors, Barb Hendee took on various jobs in her life such as teaching pre-school, before completing her Composition Theory Master’s degree. Between the year 1993 and 2006, Hendee taught English while penning fiction as a side hustle. Some of the fiction books, Barb worked on independently while others she did with her husband. Throughout the years, Barb Hendee and her husband have resided in Idaho, Washington State, Colorado. Recently, Barb Hendee relocated to Portland, Oregon. Barb Hendee loves the Northwest because she believes it is a fantastic place to write. Barb Hendee and her husband were blessed with a lovely daughter, Jaclyn, who currently resides in Houston, Texas, together with Paul, their talented son. When Barb Hendee and her husband J.C sold the novel Dampir, their lives changed drastically.

Dampir was published in the year 2003, and ever since then, they have continued to publish more and more books in the Noble Dead saga series each year. In the year 2006, both Barb Hendee and her Husband decided to quit teaching and became full time writers. Recently, Barb Hendee began working on romance and suspense novels, with the first novel being Alone with a Soldier. Authors Barb Hendee and J.C have penned down two series in the Noble Dead saga. There are a total of 6 books in the first series, while series two currently has 3 books. The third series in the Noble Dead Saga is expected at some point in the future. All the books in the Noble Dead Saga, fall in the fantasy genre.

The narratives in the Noble Dead Saga takes the readers to a time where the modern conveniences are not available, and to get somewhere one needs to either ride a horse, walk or take a boat.

Dhampir
Dhampir is the first installment in the Noble Dead saga series by author Barb Hendee. In Dhampir, author Barb Hendee introduces the readers to Magiere and Leesil, her half-elf partner. Both Magiere and Leesil, have one of the most cleverest scams going on in the land. Magiere is under the pretense of being a vampire hunter, while Leesil, on the other hand, impersonates a vampire, who is always ultimately killed in the end. Leesil and Magiere suck up all the money from the villages before leaving eventually. However, after one of the most successful scam, Magiere decided to call it quits. Magiere had saved most of her earnings and was planning to use her savings to open up a tavern.

Along the way, Magiere meets with Welsteil, an extremely mysterious man, who informs Magiere that she is the daughter of a man who recently turned into a vampire. Magiere grew up detested from her village, mainly because her mother passed away and her father, on the other hand, had left her behind. Readers are going to fall in love with Magiere mainly because she was quite a reluctant heroine. Magiere does not believe at all that she is a Dhampire. However, when one day they go after vampires, she manages to survive all thanks to Welsteil and Leesil. Magiere’s father to annihilate vampires specifically created her necklace and sword. Eventually, the readers get to learn that Husky Chap, also happens to be a vampire killer and can cause a great damage by biting the vampires.

With that said, Leesil and Magiere are far from perfect. They both have lots of flaws, specifically the rather awful scams that they orchestrated to rip off the unsuspecting villagers. All the fighting scenes in Dhampir were not only fast-paced but were also exciting and adrenaline rushing as well.

Thief of Lives
Thief of Lives is the second installment in the Noble Dead book series by author Barb Hendee. Thief of Lives is an epic continuation of Magiere’s coming to age narrative. As expected the narrative is filled with surprising revelations and believable characters. In Thief of Lives, Leesil’s past eventually comes to haunt him, when Sgaile, an elven assassin. Sgaile represents an opportunity for Leesil, to undo the damages that he had done in the past. Chap, the ever-present and enigmatic dog, is viewed in a different light, especially when his companions get to learn some of his many secrets. The main theme highlighted in the Thief of Lives is that no matter what a person does, they can never completely change who they are. From time to time Magiere does all she can to forget about her Dhampire nature, while Leesil, on the other hand, tries to leave his past behind, while trying to overcome his alcoholic nature.

Despite everything that they try to do, Leesil knows that the calmness will not stay for long and in the process prepares for the coming days. While Magiere on the other hand tries to convince herself that she is going to stay the owner of the tavern for a long time. Leesil spends the most time of his day preparing for another confrontation with the undead. Furthermore, he also hopes that he is going to protect Magiere once again. Unknown to them, Welstiel manages to carefully manipulate them into delivering his carefully laid out plan. Welstiel, kills two people, with the hopes of drawing her to Bela and in the process pulling her into confrontations with the vampires within the area. Nonetheless, it does not take long before he realizes that Magiere is not easy to manipulate at all.

Sister of the Dead
In Sister of the Dead, we meet once again we meet with Magiere and Leesil, as they embark on their quests to find out their individual histories. In Sister of the Dead, Magiere eventually discovers her father and also the truth surrounding her conception. Furthermore, she realizes that Welstiel is her flesh and blood. As the narrative progresses, the readers get to see the progression of Magiere and Leesil relationship. With that said, Sister of the Dead is an epic high fantasy that will fully grab the attention of the readers. As expected, the action scenes have been brilliantly written, and the shocking scene at the end will make the readers gasp and shake their heads.
