Bob Morris is an American novelist. He specializes in writing Caribbean themed mystery novels and is a former writer and columnist for the Florida newspaper the Orlando Sentinel. He comes from four generations of Florida family residents and left the family farm to pursue journalism.

He has traveled extensively and has even worked in a farming commune in Israel after giving up on becoming a marine biologist. He graduated from the University of Florida. In addition to working at the Sentinel, he was written for the Fort Myers News-Press, the Florida Keys Free Press, and the New York Times Regional Newspaper Group.

Morris is known for founding a parade in Orlando, Queen Kumquat Sashay, which ran from 1986 to 1997. He has lived in Santa Barbara, California, with his family, where he launches an international travel magazine for enthusiasts of water sports called Aqua. He once more returned to Florida to work as an editor in chief for Gulfshore Life and Caribbean Travel & Life magazines. He currently works as an editor and freelance writer.

He has written multiple nonfiction collections, including All Over the Map (published in 2011), Gut Check, Short Road to Hell and All Over the Map, among others. Morris is the president of a custom publishing company called Story Farm that makes magazines, books, and other publications for different clients. In addition to writing and being a published author, he works as an adjunct professor teaching crime fiction writing and food writing at Rollins College.

Bob Morris is the author of the Zach Chasteen series, which features five books in the series starting with Bahamarama in 2004 and ending with Baja Florida in 2010. Bahamarama was a finalist for the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best First Mystery Novel and was named one of the top five mysteries of the year by the Library Journal. Jamaica Me Dead was a BookSense Pick by the American Booksellers Association. Bermuda Schwartz, the third book in the series, was a bronze medal winner of the Florida Book Award.

The main character in Bahamarama is Zack Chasteen. He used to have a satisfying life playing football professionally as a linebacker for the Miami Dolphins. When he gets put away and charged with two years serving in a federal prison in Florida on charges for something he didn’t do, it was a bogus move for sure. He was going stir crazy on the inside, but now that he is out of jail for good he is going to focus on what he can change and try to get his life together again.

It won’t be easy, but it helps that he has a beautiful girl waiting for him. Barbara is the name of his gorgeous girlfriend, and not only is she incredible, but she’s a bona fide magazine mogul. When he gets out, he makes straight for Harbor Island in the Bahamas, their favorite place in the world to be together. It would be nice to just get a break from the past two years of jail and finally be free in a tropical paradise with the woman that he loves.

But before Zack can get to the Bahamas, he has to make his way out of Florida first. Getting out of the sunshine state might be more difficult than he originally anticipated. Things start to pop up and trouble is blowing this way on trade winds from the sea. Zack barely manages to get out of the area alive and it’s then that he discovered that someone kidnapped Barbara and the photographer former lover of hers has been brutally killed.

Trouble is here for Zack once again, who is no stranger to things taking a turn for the worse in life. He’s been through tough scrapes before, but this time he is fighting back. This time he’s going to enlist the help of some people he trusts to help him turn the tables and resolve this whole thing before Barbara really gets hurt. After all, one person has already been killed– no one else will fall prey to whoever this is if Zack has anything to do with it.

Zack gets the help of a Royal Bahamian police superintendent and his good friend Boggy, who is a mystical Taino Indian, and with the aid of some more unexpected people in the Bahamas, he finally feels like he is able to get somewhere with this whole horrible situation. Barbara will not get hurt if he can help it. This exciting novel is full of twists and turns and unpredictable events. Read on as Bahamarama races towards its thrilling conclusion and see if this former linebacker can crack the case and help save the woman that he loves.

In the sequel to Bahamarama, Zack is out of the beautiful Bahamas and onto the new grounds of Jamaica and of course the ever-familiar home state of Florida. The footballer is back for an exciting adventure once more, although he doesn’t know that. Bob Morris does it again with this fun main character. This time Zack is invited to a halftime party being held by his friend Monk DeVane. It’s not only going to be a great game, but the party is taking place in one of the most exclusive and V.I.P. skyboxes in Florida Field.

He fully expects to go and have a great time, but not that much to his surprise, everything is upside down when he arrives. It turns out that there has been a bomb discovered under someone’s chair– and not just anyone’s chair. The bomb is placed under the chair of Darcy Whitehall, who happens to be Monk’s boss. He’s also the Jamaican owner of a chain of Caribbean resorts called Libido, all of which are known for being very loose with the rules.

While the bomb that is the chair turns out to be a dud, there’s no doubt that the intent to kill was real. Someone is out to get Whitehall, but who could it be? That’s when Monk decides he needs to help his employer and protect him, and Zack agrees to help out.

But when Monk’s life is put in danger, this mission gets personal. Pick up Jamaica Me Dead to catch all of the action and see how this suspenseful novel turns out!
