The authors Bodie & Brock Thoene are the authors of the Christian historical fiction genre. They are a husband and wife pair of writers and have worked as a team in writing a few successful novel series’. Bodie Thoene began her writing career as a journalist at a very young age. She used to work for a local newspaper and also worked for the ABC Circle Films and the Batjac Production of John Wayne. She was described as a talented writer who has the ability to capture the minds of the people. Brock Thoene is also an essential part of the team. He holds degrees in education and history. With a prosperous writing career, the couple has experienced a lot of success in life. They are also the proud parents of 4 adult children named Jake, Rachael, Ellie and Luke. They are also the grandparents of 8 grandchildren. Bodie and Brock Thoene spend their time divided between London, Calirnia, Nevada and Hawaii. The couple has written more than 65 different books on historical fiction, which have gone on to sell more than 35 million copies all over the world and have also been translated into more than 20 different languages of the world. The success of the couple writers can be understood from the fact that they have together won 8 ECPA Gold Medallion Awards. This proves that they are not only stylish writers but also the masters at capturing the hearts and minds of their readers. After beginning her career as a journalist in her teens, Bodie used to get her bylines published in major periodicals such as the World Report, the U.S. News, the Saturday Evening Post and The American West. Her writing career also received a great boost from her stint as a researcher and writer at the ABC Circle Films and the Batjac Productions.

Bodie has obtained her degrees in communications and journalism and is often described as a talented writer with the capability of reaching to the time and the minds of the people. Bodie’s husband Brock Thoene has often been described by her as an important half of their writing team. Before teaming up with Bodie as a writer, he obtained his degrees in history and education and has also worked as a story line consultant and as a researcher. His works have helped to add vital dimensions to the historical accuracy. This careful research has also helped him to pen down the ever successful series’, The Zion Chronicles and The Zion Covenant, which are recognized as classic novels of historical fiction by the Zionist Libraries of the world and the American Library Association, and are also used to teach the subject of history in the college classrooms. The sons of Bodie & Brock Thoene, Luke and Jake have also worked out their ways to become the next generation authors by carrying the talent of the Thoene family. Luke also heads the production house that deals with the production of the Thoene Audiobooks. The couple lives a happy life along with their children and grandchildren by dividing their time between Hawaii, Nevada, Central California and London. Both Bodie & Brock Thoene were born in Bakersfield in California and met each other at the age of three. They married each other in the year 1970 during their college days. Other than her academic degrees, Bodie also holds a PhD in the art of creative writing.

The novel series Zion Covenant written by Bodie & Brock Thoene was published between the years 1989 and 2005. The series consists of a total of 9 novels based on the historical fiction genre. The first novel of the series was titled ‘Vienna Prelude’ and was published by the Tyndale House Publishers in the year 1989. The novel revolves around the lives of the primary characters Elisa Lindheim, John Murphy, Shimon and Leah, and is set is a number of historical locations such as Germany, Prague, Paris, Austria, Berlin, Vienna, Dachau and Kitzbuhel. It depicts the era of the time between 1936 and 1937. The opening sequence of the novel shows the era of the year 1936 Europe when the Nazi darkness was spreading across all over the continent. No one seemed safe during that time as everyone was just a step away to be swept into the tide of the evil, which was considered nothing less than a nightmare. The character of Lisa Lindheim is introduced as a blond and a violinist in the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. She has adopted the Aryan stage name for her safety and protection from the Nazis. However, her close friend named Leah, who is a talented Jewish cellist seems to be trapped in a perilous situation. There were also people who choose to fight the madness of Hitler. These included Elisa’s father Theo, The British statesman, Winston Churchill, a brave American reporter named John Murphy, a village family located in the Tyrolean Alps and the underground Jewish community. Now Elisa faces the tough decision of joining the Underground forces and fighting against the Hitler’s Nazi’s. If she agrees to do so, she would risk everything that she has and put every loving member of her family and friends in danger.

Another novel of the series written by Bodie & Brock Thoene was published in the year 2005 by the Tyndale House Publishers. The novel was titled ‘Dunkirk Crescendo’ and was set in Paris during the time of the year 1940. The novel deals with the lives of the main characters Josephine Marlow and the French colonel Andre Chardon. In the opening plot of the novel, the war seemed to be looming over Paris during the spring of 1940. When the Hitler’s Nazi forces are about to invade the borders of the country, a journalist named Josephine Marlow is ordered to cover the story by going on the dangerous journey to the borders of Paris. Many lives of small children depend on the attempts of Josephine. If she becomes successful in her attempts, she will be able to save the lives of many children on the border and if not they die brutally at the hands of the Nazi forces. Colonel Andre Charldon is aware of the fact the Nazi forces led by Fuhrer have remained undefeated till now and will not stop at anything. Colonel Chardon of France becomes successful in decoding a coded message about a possible attack on the capital of France, but no one believes him. He seems desperate to convince his senior officials about the attack in which thousands of innocent people, including children faced the danger of getting slaughtered by the Fuhrer led Nazi forces.

I love love love Bodie and Brock’s books. So far I have read three of their series. My goal is to read every single book. I started reading their books that took place beginning with WWII. In retrospect before reading these books I didn’t know anything about WWII. I am so grateful for their books.

God Bless you Bodie and Brock for using your talent.

Having read many of your books, one stands out that I cannot remember the name. Takes place during WW2 in Europe. A young girl marries a Jewish boy to hopefully save him from the Nazi’s. But, she’s in love with a mysterious man who shows up in her life. Having heard her husband perished in the war, she finally marries the mysterious man, maybe an angel?? Something about the 144,000. I so want to read it again. Please help!! Thank you 🙏

Awesome authors! Awesome books! The Zion Chronicles & The Zion Covenant – so clarified what I lived in the late 1930s and early ’40s. As a first generation removed from an immigrant family, much was kept secret from us children! These, written as novels, so brought back a lot of answers to questions from childhood days. Read these two several years ago. Am about to reread them as I gave them to my sister when I had finished reading them. Very well written! Amazing authors, Bodie & Brock are!

Which series deals with a Jewish slave girl that is mauled, by a
    lion, but survives?

That book, A Voice in the Wind, was written by Francine Rivers. Her two other books in that trilogy are: An Echo in the Darkness and As Sure as the Dawn.

Brodie&Brock are an amazing team. I finished two books of the A.D. Chronicles series. I’ve read a few of their books, but so far this seems to be the best of theirs I’ve read yet. Very engaging and insightful. Even though you know it’s not a literal accurate account of Jesus’ life, it’s a brand new look into the life He must have lived. His personality and His deep sense of compassion. I was almost debating whether or not to take time off of work to finish the book today. I definitely want to buy the rest of this series so I can finish it.

Are there other books in the Shiloh Legacy? I read “In My father’s House” and would like to read any follow up books. Thank you

Yes – they are listed above.

I have the Zion Chronicles series and the Zion Covenant series which I loved. I have just reread the Zion Legacy series for the 2nd time. I wanted to keep going after Jerusalem’s Hope, but it appears that’s the end of that series. What happened to Emet,Ha-Or Tov and Avel. Does their stories continue? Also what happens next for Moshe and Alfie left in the underground place where the scrolls are?

They appear briefly in the Jerusalem Chronologicals but they are not main characters.

I wondered the same thing. Seems unfininshed. I would love to see a series that picks up their stories.

    • Kathy Handy: 1 year ago

Those characters are also in the A.D. Chronicle, beginning with “First Light”.

I have been a regular reader of four of your series and have really enjoyed them. I have reread the A. D Chronicles three times over so far. Thank you for your insight of the person of Jesus Christ. I have two sets – the Zion Chronicles and the Zion Covenant series. Those series led me to read more of your other series. The history is so good along with the relationships of people with one another and the cultures of the times. God bless you both for your dedication and gifts to so many of us who are believers.

I’ve read the Zion Covenant Books and Zion Diaries. Sold them when finished. Very sorry that I did. Eventually repurchased them. Started the Zion Chronicles, purchased the Boxed Set. Vision getting bad not sure I’ll be able to read them. Also, read “Icon”.
The two sets I finished gave me a hunger for WWII history. Hated history until I read these books.
