Brenda Hiatt
USA Today and New York Times bestselling writer Brenda Hiatt pens sparkling romantic adventure tales.

She started out in traditional publishing with Avon Books, Harlequin, and HarperCollins before making the switch to indie publishing while getting the rights back to her older work.

Brenda, in addition to writing, is passionate about embracing life to the fullest, which includes Tae-kwon-do (achieving her second degree black belt in the year 2012 and competed in the USA Tae-kwon-do National Championship tournament). Scuba diving (with more than sixty dives to her credit), hiking, reading, traveling, and pursuing all sorts of new skills and experiences.

Brenda’s an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers, Romance Writers of America, and Novelists, Inc., which is an international organization of multi-published novelists and which she was a previous president of. For over a dozen years she’s also collected data on the earnings of writers, something she shares on her site.

When Brenda was younger, she wanted to be a veterinarian, then in college she wanted to be the next Marlin Perkins (from Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom). It wasn’t until she hit graduate school that she first learned she enjoyed writing fiction, which was an interest she finally pursued a few years later.

Brenda is able to get stories from anywhere and everywhere. She once got an entire book from just a single line she heard in a song that she heard on the radio. The book was “Lord Dearborn’s Destiny”, and the song was “Venus” by Frankie Avalon.

The toughest part of her writing process is getting that first draft down and finished. She is a rare author that enjoys editing/revising once she’s got something to really work with, however her internal editor can get highly intrusive, making every first draft slow. She tries various strategies to speed that part of the process up, however she will probably always be a slow writer.

“Ship of Dreams” is the first novel in the “Americana Dreaming” series and was released in the year 2000. One harmless little lie, which grew into a passion beyond their wildest dreams. Della Gilliland, accused of a crime that she didn’t even commit, flees to San Francisco, hardly escaping aboard some east-bound ship. Della, penniless but proud, would never even dream of approaching a charming and attractive passenger for any help, but she is desperate.

Kent Bradford, a businessman, is stunned when a flame-haired and gorgeous woman unexpectedly introduces herself as his wife to some important investor. Afraid that a scene could risk a deal which might save his family’s shipping business, Kent goes along with this charade, at least up until they reach port.

However some unforeseen factors, along with some intense mutual desire, draw Kent and Della together, making their “marriage” of convenience is more pleasurable than either one of them ever thought possible, right when their passion starts blooming, however, a raging storm tosses their precious love, along with their lives, in serious jeopardy.

“Rogue’s Honor” is the first novel in the “Saint of Seven Dials” series and was released in the year 2001. Lady Pearl, in an effort to escape from her stepmom’s matchmaking machinations, runs off and pretends she is a common housemaid, with the aid from her abigail. When she gets rescued from the near disaster of being recognized by a charming serving-man, she pretends she is simpleminded to protect herself from any unwanted advances. However she quickly starts suspecting that her rescuer is much more than the common servant that he appeared to be at first.

Luke St. Clair lives a double life, pretending to be a gentleman but in reality sustains himself and the needy folk as a notorious Robin Hood sort of thief, the Saint of Seven Dials. The very last thing that he needs in his life is a gorgeous simpleton in need of protection. However “Purdy” proves to be anything but simple, or even common, for that matter. Once he finds out the truth, does he even dare continue, in the ballrooms of the elite, the flirtation which started in the London slums? The risk is enormous, however Lady Pearl’s sweet kisses might be worth it.

“Tessa’s Touch” is the first novel in the “7 Saints Hunt Club” series and was released in the year 2012. She galloped into his life, and she touched his heart.

Tessa has got a special gift with horses. With just a touch and a word, she is able to tame and train even the most unmannerly and unbroken of beasts. However when Lord Anthony Northrup gallops into her world, she finds she’s faced with a much greater challenge than any horse has ever posed.

Anthony first assumed that Tessa is helping her unscrupulous uncle sell off half-broken horses to some unsuspecting gentlemen, however while getting to know her, he realizes that she is actually motivated by love: both for the horses she trains and for her crippled dad. Charmed by her independence and spirit, Anthony is determined to free her from the trap that her uncle’s woven in order to claim her for himself.

“Starstruck” is the first novel in the “Starstruck” series and was released in the year 2013. The middle of nowhere has gotten much more interesting!

Marsha, a nerdy astronomy geek who her few friends call M, hasn’t ever been anyone special. Orphaned as an infant and hesitantly raised by her overly-strict “aunt”, she is unsure of who she even is. M’s dreams of escaping from small Jewel, Indiana someday and leaving her mark in the world appears to be an impossibly distant one until Rigel, a hot new quarterback, befriends her.

While Rigel only turns his back on fawning cheerleaders in order to spend time with M, odd things begin happening: her vision improves allowing her to ditch her thick glasses, her acne clears right up, and when M and Rigel touch, literal sparks fly. M starts to dig for an actual reason, she learns of deep secrets which will change her once mundane life for good. And expose her to certain perils that she had never dreamed about.
