Brent Towns is the author of the long running Team Reaper book series. He began his writing career in 2015 and has written over 50 stories and scribed over a dozen commando comics. He co-authored two books with his wife of more than 20 years, Samantha. Brent has written books in different genres, including adventure, crime, action, war and western. Before switching to full-time writing, Brent worked as a seaweed factory worker, mowed lawns, tidied gardens and worked in caravan parks and the hire industry. He lives with his wife and their son in Queensland, Australia.

Retribution is the first novel in the Team Reaper series. Brent Towns masterfully keeps readers on the edge of their seats with non-stop action, only pausing momentarily before plunging them back into the heart of the adrenaline-pumping narrative. In the thick of this thrilling saga is John “Reaper” Kane, an ex-recon marine who, after turning against and eliminating two paramount figures of the Irish Mob, finds himself trapped in a dangerous game of cat and mouse, seeking refuge in what he believes to be the ideal hideout—Retribution, Arizona. However, Retribution is far from the sanctuary he hoped for; beneath its decaying exterior lies a town under the covert control of the Montoya Cartel, using it as a strategic point for their drug trafficking operations across the border.

Attempting to maintain a low profile in a town overwhelmed by lawlessness proves to be a futile endeavor for Kane, particularly after the cartel’s hitman savagely kills the local sheriff. This act of violence thrusts an old friend, Deputy Sheriff Cara Billings, into the forefront of the battle, making her the lone barrier standing between the cartel’s tyranny and the town’s fragile peace.

Kane’s situation deteriorates further when he finds himself falsely imprisoned by Cleaver, a corrupt deputy entangled with the cartel, accused of shooting a local gang member. It’s at this critical juncture that DEA Agent Luis Ferrero enters the fray. Ferrero has long advocated for a specialized task force to combat the cartels on their turf. With establishing this task force finally within reach, Ferrero sets his sights on recruiting Kane, known as the Reaper, to lead this new team.

Brent Towns weaves a tale of intrigue, betrayal, and relentless action, illustrating the complexity of fighting against entrenched criminal networks and the unlikely alliances in the quest for justice.

Drowning are the Dead is the first novel in the Mark Hayes series by Brent Towns featuring detective Mark Hayes. As a former police officer, a common backstory for many in his profession, Hayes embarks on a compelling journey to unravel the disappearance of a fellow private investigator. This investigator had vanished under mysterious circumstances in Friar’s Lake, a secluded town within the vast expanse of Australia’s Outback. His investigation centered around a deceased girl, possibly linked to the infamous yet elusive serial killer known as Ten Cent. With Ten Cent’s trial gone cold, believed by many to be dead or detained, the case presents an intricate puzzle.

Without divulging any spoilers, it’s evident that Mark Hayes is drawn into a labyrinth of intrigue far exceeding his initial expectations. Friar’s Lake, though small in size, is a reservoir of deep-seated secrets and complexities. This narrative marks the debut of Mark Hayes’ adventures, introducing readers to a character whose blend of determination and empathy makes him particularly captivating. Hayes’ relationship with his ex-wife, a serving police officer, adds layers to the story, offering him unconventional access to information and enriching the plot with their dynamic exchanges.

Brent Towns brings a wealth of experience, evidenced in the novel’s polished prose, seamless transitions, and meticulously balanced descriptions. His unique narrative style offers just enough idiosyncrasies to engage readers without overshadowing the story’s flow. This book not only promises an enthralling mystery but also showcases Towns’ adeptness at creating a world where each detail contributes to the suspense and depth of the tale. Murder in the Outback is not just the beginning for Mark Hayes but a testament to Brent Towns’ storytelling prowess, making it a must-read for mystery enthusiasts.

Kane: Tooth & Nail is the first novel in Fear the Reaper series by Brent Towns. John ‘Reaper’ Kane, a battle-hardened veteran, reaches a breaking point when a confrontation forces him to take the life of a young adversary. This moment of harrowing self-defense leaves him questioning the relentless cycle of violence that has come to define his existence. In search of solace and a momentary escape from the bloodshed, Kane seeks refuge in the secluded tranquility of Vesper Lake. This remote mountain haven promises a respite for reflection.
However, Kane’s presence in Vesper Lake quickly escalates from a peaceful retreat to a clash with local authorities, sparked by his instinctual drive to protect a distressed young woman. This act of valor thrusts him into direct conflict with the town’s law enforcement, unraveling a sinister underbelly governed by Nazareno ‘The Nazarene Dragon’ Pedregon. Pedregon, a notorious drug lord, wields his power from the dark confines of Black Bog Federal Prison, casting a shadow of fear and control over the town.

Kane’s interference draws the ire of Pedregon’s network, leading to a false murder charge that sees him ensnared in the corrupt depths of Black Bog. Within the prison’s walls, Kane is thrust into a gladiatorial fight for survival against a foe who has marked him for death. The revelation of his identity to Nazareno turns his imprisonment into a deadly game of predator and prey.

Isolated, weary, and outnumbered, Kane confronts a grim reality where the odds are overwhelmingly stacked against him. Yet, the essence of his survival instinct emerges more potent than ever. Kane realizes that to navigate this lethal labyrinth and emerge unscathed, he must rely on his most primal instincts. The battle for survival transforms into a raw, merciless struggle where only the most resilient can prevail.

In the rugged terrain of Vesper Lake and the cruel confines of Black Bog Federal Prison, Kane’s odyssey becomes a testament to the indomitable will to survive against all odds. His journey from combat-weary warrior to a lone survivor facing the draconian might of a criminal empire encapsulates a thrilling saga of resilience, redemption, and the relentless pursuit of justice.
