The book was the first in Commissaire Dupin’s journey and made its debut in Germany in 2012. It did well, hitting the best-seller list and staying there for months and selling 600,000 copies. Since then it has been sold in different countries around the world.

Jean-Luc Bannalec is the creator and the author of the popular Brittany Mystery series. Death In Pont-Aven is the first novel in the Brittany Mystery series by Jean-Luc Bannalec. In this rollicking debut, readers get to meet the main character of Commissaire Georges Dupin for the first time.

Georges Dupin was born in Paris and is known for being cranky as well as addicted to caffeine. He has recently moved from Paris to the coast of Breton, which is as beautiful as it is remote. One minute he’s there enjoying his customary coffee and croissant in the morning, and the next he is being pulled to a murder scene.

The Commissaire is going to Pont-Aven, a sleepy village that doesn’t get woken up much. Everyone knows each other here. The last thing that anyone expected was for Pierre-Louis Pennec to be discovered dead. He may have been 91 years old, but the legendary hotelier appears to have died in a curious way.

The Central Hotel’s former owner couldn’t have been murdered, but the fact that Georges is being summoned is not a good sign. Pont-Aven has always been a seaside destination and the village continues to draw tourists. The case is not good for business, especially with the village at the peak of the tourist season.

Dupin takes the case and is doing his best to look further into the suspects and the victim to see what he can find. Along the way, he might just find more than he bargained for. The town seems wholesome enough, but are there secrets lurking beneath the surface? This French coast mystery case needs resolution, but can the Commissaire find it? Pick up a copy of this novel and find out!

Murder On Brittany Shores is the second novel in the Brittany Mystery series by Jean-Luc Bannalec. In the first book, readers got acquainted with Commissaire Dupin and saw him in action on the job in France. Now he’s back for another mystery.

Not much has changed for Dupin. The Commissaire is still drinking coffee all the time and continues to be cantankerous. Now he’s got a new case coming his way in the Glénan Islands, located 10 miles off Brittany’s coast. It has beautiful clear waters you can see through and sands that are soft, sparkling and white. It appears to be the perfect place to visit.

That all changes when three dead bodies are found washed up on its shore in May. It appears that it was just an accident. But when the victims’ true identities are revealed, it appears that Commissaire Dupin has another mystery to solve. Back in the thick of it, he’s got to find out whether these people were killed, and if they were, who the murderer was.

From the second that Dupin gets to the region, he realizes that he is an outsider. Here they have their own traditions, their own myths, and he finds himself being pulled into the land’s history. This case is going to be challenging, and Dupin is working to complete it. Along the way, he will encounter people from all walks of life, including divers, marine biologists, and treasure hunters.

As he takes the investigation on, things will only become more dangerous. It’s a gorgeous place, but these idyllic islands may be hiding more than they let on. Can the Commissaire get to the bottom of this? Read this mystery and find out!

The Fleur de Sel Murders is the third novel featuring Commissaire Dupin in the series that bears his name from Jean-Luc Bannalec. The mystery continues in this exciting continuation of the series!

There have long been rumors that the Fleur de Sel’s scent at the time of harvest causes hallucinations. This is from the salt farmers that are old enough to have seen many seasons of salt farming at the Guérande Peninsula marshes. It sounds a little out there, but Dupin himself starts to believe in the tales while in the salt works and experiencing a random attack.

Dupin has been anticipating getting away from the paperwork for a while and going to ‘white country’, located between rivers and the Atlantic Ocean. Then he begins investigating strange barrels for his journalist pal Lilou Breval, and before he knows it, someone is attacking him. He has no idea who it was, but is concerned greatly when his friend vanishes without a clue as to where he went.

The Commissaire gets himself assigned to handle the case with the help of his secretary. He has a vested interest in getting it solved and wants nothing more than to find his friend. This time he’ll be working with investigator Sylvaine Rose, who is capable and beautiful. Can they make their way through a labyrinth of information to solve this case? Read this novel to find out!
