After working sincerely for some time, Grady begins to ask questions and this is not appreciated by the Organization. Whenever Grady arrives at any place, he wonders why he was sent there particularly. Later, Grady McDonnell comes to know that the Organization repeatedly hires special people to become sin-eaters and he is also one of the special people.

One of the recently hired sin-eaters starts killing people instead of cleansing their souls and turns into a renegade. This brings a great shock to the Organization. They decide to form a team of specialists for tracking down and neutralizing the renegade. Grady McDonnell also finds a place in the team that is comprised of clairvoyants, psychics, and a mysterious lady who has the power to summon the guardian angel of hers.
