C.L. Bevill has in the past lived in Arizona, Virginia and Oregon. In fact, she was even at some point in her life in the US Army and worked as a graphic illustrator. She holds a degree in social psychology and counseling. C.L. Bevill is also the proud author of: Bayou Moon, Shadow people, Bubba and 12 deadly days of Christmas amongst other titles. It is equally worth noting that Bubba Snoddy series is partly a mystery partly Humor based. As you may have already guessed, she is presently working on her latest master piece.

In case you love mystery based, humor based novels or having both genre’s prominently featured in any novel you choose to read then you will be extremely excited by the composition of C.L. Bevill’s bubba Snoddy series.

For instance, in the first book, “Bubba and the dead woman”, Bubba Snoddy is brought out as an old country boy faced with a really big problem. In spite of being personable, handsome and living in a historical mansion in the south somewhere in a fairly small town in texas, he is brought out as just having found the body of a woman she previously knew and was even once engaged to and suppose to marry. Interesting thing is, his ex-fiancée was the one who orchestrated having bubba forced out of the military. This is what led to his return back to the tiny town of pegramville where seemingly everyone is a consumer of gossip plus no one keeps secrets. At the same time, the sheriff, John Headrick is convinced that Bubba is the one responsible for killing his ex-fiancée in what he describes a fit of rage.

As strange as it may sound, not only does the town believe that he killed his ex-fiancee in what is described as a fit of rage, bubba’s own mother is convinced that Bubba is responsible for killing his ex-fiancee. As if that is not enough, there are strange reports of a series of strange happenings at the mansion that: ghosts tend to walk the halls while rattling their chains at midnight and that Bubba’s own self claim sainted mother Mrs Miz Demetrice operates and illegal gambling ring. at the same time, Rumors continue to run rampant about Bubba, the decadent Snoddy ancestors, the missing Gold as well as a basset hound named precious who loves to nip first and then ask questions later.

Simply put, this first installment of the Bubba Snoddy series is centered around the mysterious death of bubba’s ex-fiancée and his quest to uncover exactly who is responsible before he is sent to prison for that crime or whoever is responsible ends up murdering him as well.

The Second Installment of the Bubba Snoddy series is titled; “Bubba and the 12 deadly days of Christmas”. It starts off with bubba Snoddy dealing with some personal problems. His family has finally descended back home for Christmas holidays but not in a good way. His cousin would like to assume ownership of the Snoddy mansion and is willing to use manipulative behavior to achieve his ends. Miss Miz Demetrice on the other hand is up to nefarious and illegal activities while at the same time trying to entertain relatives. His cousin and 10 year old son serve as the personification of a demon who fancies looking at medical photographs, making stun guns from scratch and causing havoc whenever he roams. It is equally worth noting that the woman of Bubba’s dreams, Deputy Willodean Gray still continues to evade his romantic pursuits. As strange as it may sound, patients from the local mental institute are allowed to wander over the town, ostensibly to assist with the Christmas festival courtesy of a program established by the mayor in a bid to cut costs. Unfortunately for bubba, he stumbles across the body of a dead man dressed as Santa at the Christmas scene at City hall and becomes the first suspect . . . . again in spite of having been proven that he was not responsible the first time. Bubba is therefore forced to move real fast in order to catch the murderer.

In the third installment: “Bubba and the missing woman”, bubba is faced with yet another problem. This time, the woman he likes goes missing. Interesting thing this time round is, the folks around pegramville don’t have an inkling as to whether bubba is involved this time round. In fact, bubba himself doesn’t know what to think, he is however plumb dedicated on finding Willodean gray whether through fair means or even through foul play. This however will require a trip to the big city of Dallas, a run in with an unstable superhero dubbed “the purple Singapore sling, a headlong hunt for a devious individual who snatched the sheriff’s deputy as well as a kidnapping by a dallas crime lord amongst other things in order to establish which end is up.

In the fourth installment of the bubba Snoddy series dubbed: “brownie and the Dame”, brownie Snoddy is brought out as visiting the Snoddy mansion for spring break. However, wherever he goes, mayhem always seems to follow. If it’s not some form of destruction, its terror, anarchy and pandemonium. He seems to have his hands on a fedora, a stack of hardboiled mystery novels and always seems ready to squirt metal at the nearest evil perpetrator in spite of the fact that his reliable stun gun has been appropriated. Things heat up after Janie, the niece of Willodean Gray (the beauteous sheriff’s deputy) shows up to participate. In fact, even Bubba and Miz Demetrice can’t stop the serious sleuthing of Brownie and the Dame!

In the fifth Installment, bubba and the Mysterious murder note, just when it seems it is safe to go back to pegramville, trouble crops up again, pegramville and Pegram County have all been relatively peaceful for several months’ right until there is an attack of the pegramville murder festival that was organized by Miz Demetrice herself. Who would have thought that people would end up making fun of the murders that took place in their own town? To make matters worse, the local judge also announces his run for the gubernatorial seat causing all kinds of confusion, chaos and commotion. Amidst the festival madness, bubba’s truck breaks down and he stumbles upon a cache of original car parts. Also amongst the parts is a carton containing a lost soul’s plea that he be sold as an antique truck. You can imagine all of this happening and yet you thought the small town was boring.

In “the ransom of brownie” everything starts out as it would on any other normal day, then brownie happened. Brownie has returned to the snoddy estate to find his mother seven months pregnant and ordered to bed rest. Above all else, she is in dare need of brownie free time. This prompts brownie to go visit the Texas snoddy. It is right in the middle of November, he is ten years old and they have taken away his home made taser. You can only imagine how much trouble there could possibly be. Amidst all of this, two men decide to kidnap brownie hoping to get the rumored civil war gold which snoddy’s are perceived to be in possession of. As you may have guessed, that was their mistake since no one in their right mind would kidnap brownie Snoddy.

In “bubba and the ZigZaggery Zombies”, his mother, Miz Demetrice alongside her good friend Miz Adelia are brought out as being up to no good. In fact, the DEA are watching them for mysterious reasons. At the same time, Bubba is seen trying to get the beauteous sheriff deputy Willodean alone for some quality time only for zombies to show up in a cinematic manner. What’s more, the director of the movie is murdered by unknown assailants and someone points the blaming finger at bubba once again. In this installment, Zigzaggery zombies, fetid filmmakers, cryptic causalities and maternal madness are simply par of the course, the main question is: what’s bubba to do?

Finally, in “bubba and then ten little loonies” bubba is brought out as planning a wedding or rather he is in the midst of invading the wedding planner when trouble comes his way. David beathard also known as the purple Singapore sling is afraid that something awful is taking place at the mental institute. David therefore desperately seeks bubba’s help taking into consideration the fact that he has previously been involved in trying to solve mystery murders. Interesting thing is, in spite of all of the wedding nonsense and coddling Willodean, Budda still feels the need to support a friend.
