Calle J. Brookes is an American author of novels. She loves fictional books and spends a lot of her time in books stores and reading in addition to writing. She describes herself as fun, ironic, playful, sophisticated and professional. She says that sometimes she can be a control freak, which is why she chooses to self-publish.

Her day job involves reading romantic novels, and her other job is writing them. She loves the color bold purple and loves Adele, Shinedown, Kid Rock, and Nickelback. She admits that she loves watching crime dramas and catching rocks. She is not a fan of the movie Titanic or its main actor and dislikes Lifetime Movies to an extreme degree. While she enjoys writing fiction of a supernatural nature, she makes a conscious effort to stay away from reading or writing anything resembling a story with sparkly vampires.

She is married to a cop and they live in Indiana with their children and their dogs. She says that she suspects he is a vampire, but you never know for sure. She is the author of multiple books and multiple series that include the Dardanos, Co. series. The first book in this series is titled The Blood King and was published in 2013. The fifteenth book, God of Nightmares, was published in 2016.

She is also the author of the PAVAD: FBI series, which have sixteen books in the series (seventeen if you count the prequel story Beginning, published in 2015. There is an omnibus of the series entitled Case Files (published 2016). She has also written the Dardanos: The Adrastos series as well as the Finley Creek series and the Masterson County series.

In The Blood King, a battle is shaping up where sacrifices must be made by different sides. The main character of this novel is Emily Taniss. She is the new CEO of a company that was started sixty years ago by her grandfather, aptly called Taniss Industries. This company has actually been responsible for starting some things with the Dardaptos people.

The Dardaptos are a race of beings who inspired the legends about vampires that go back through the years. The king of this people is called Rydere Dardanos. As King, he is doing everything he can to protect the people that he sees over from all the human beings named Taniss.

Emily’s grandfather not only started the company but the company has been responsible for a lot of violent acts against the Dardaptoans. The repercussions of these actions have been a thorn in the side for Emily and her cousins for years, and it would likely take them a few more to truly sort out all the consequences from them. However, they don’t have that kind of time.

Rydere thought that so many vampires have been lost at the hands of those awful humans that one more death of a young woman is just an eye for an eye, an action that is balancing out the scales in the war between his people and the Taniss family. It’s not like hundreds of his people have not been killed by them, so when he held the body of the young woman and went to put his fangs into her neck, he thought it would be pretty easy to kill her and intended to make it go quick.

However. at the first taste of her blood, he knows something is up. This girl is not just a sacrifice, she is a potential mate. No, she is destined to be his one true mate and be the queen of his people, ruling by his side. The only thing is that he’s going to have to introduce that idea to her before she comes around to it. When the vampires are attacked by a group of outsider supernaturals, will she come around to the idea of being queen alongside this mysterious person?

The second book in the Dardanos, Co. series is called The Seer’s Strength. It was published in 2012. In this exciting book, Mickey Tanis is dealing with some trust issues. She doesn’t trust human men, let alone males from any other species. She didn’t readily let someone in when she was a human, let alone a vampire. So when she is turned and made into a Dardaptoan, she doesn’t see trusting the vampire that did it in her future.

This guy took her out of her life and the world she knew and took it away from her. So when he wants her to believe that he did this because some goddess proclaimed that they were preordained to be together, she thinks it’s a bit crazy. But this guy seems to think it, and it seems to justify him kidnapping her and turning her from a human into something else, apparently. So now she’s supposed to trust him and believe this prophecy he’s telling her. Not a chance– she thinks that he’s crazy.

Is Theodoric Sebastos crazy? It’s a good question. Theodoric has been waiting around for centuries and he has been doing it alone. He has been waiting for his mate to appear and dreaming of the day that she would arrive. So when he finds her in Mickey, he is willing to do whatever it takes to convince her that she should be with him. But how can he convince this girl, especially when he has already turned her against her will?

It’s going to take a lot of making up for what he has done for this girl to trust him or even want to be around him, that’s for sure. All he needs to do is whatever he can to win her trust and convince her that the goddess was right and they belong together after all. But will he be able to pull it off?

Mickey is pretty stubborn and if he wants to convince her he has got his work cut out for him. Will he be able to fulfill the mysterious prophecy or will all of his efforts, even if they were selfish, be in vain? Get this book and see for yourself!

   I recently pre ordered “Meaning In Masterson” on my Inovo Nook from Barns and Noble. It should have downloaded on my nook on 2/12/2022 however it has not downloaded yet. Please advise why I can’t open this book on my nook when I’ve already paid for it?
