Candace Camp is a New York Times Bestselling author of romance novels hailing from Amarillo, Texas, United States. She has written over 60 successful books in her writing career starting in the year 1978 with her first novel titled Bonds of Love. Apart from writing under her original name, Candace has used a number of pen names for writing different kinds of the novel series. She has written around 5 novel series in her writing career using the pseudonyms, Lisa Gregory, Sharon Stephens, and Kristin James. Author Anastasia Hopcus is the daughter of author Camp. Candace was born on May 23, 1949 in Amarillo, Texas, as Candace Pauline Camp Hopcus and got married to Pete Hopcus in the year 1980. She was the youngest of the 3 siblings born to Grady Camp and Lula Mae. As her mother used to work as a newspaper reporter, writing was natural in Candace. Even her father was a business manager, working in the Amarillo newspaper agency in Texas. When she was just 10 years old, Candace began writing her own stories. Since then, she used to pick up the pen and begin writing whatever came to her head in order to get relaxed or release the stresses from her life.
Candace went on to attend the Texas University situated in Austin, and later joined the West Texas State University. After completing her graduation, Candace began working as a teacher in the Eureka Springs located in Arkansas. Shortly after, she moved to North Carolina and took a job offer in the trust department of one of the banks there. At that time, Candace had a lot of interest in studying law and therefore, she left her job at the bank and enrolled herself at the North Carolina University situated in Chapel Hill, to begin her law school. In the meantime, she used to read several romance novels as a hobby. She was so much inspired by the characters and romantic set ups of those novels that she decided to write her own romance novel. Eventually, author Candace finished writing her first novel while she was still studying at the law school. The novel was titled Bonds of Love, and instead of publishing it under her original name, Candace published it under the pseudonym Lisa Gregory in the year 1978. The success of this novel allowed author Candace to write around 60 more novels in the following years under different pen names. All the other novels written by her have also become quite successful, just like her first novel. She got married in the year 1980 and has a daughter from her husband Pete Hopcus. Author Candace has trained her daughter Anastasia Hopcus also to become a published author of the young adult genre. As of today, Candace is busy trying to re-edit all the novels that she has written under different pseudonyms and republish them under her original name, Candace Camp. Author Candace considers herself lucky to succeed with her decision of giving up the law practice for devoting her full time towards writing novels. If she would have not taken the daring decision, she would have not become the popular novelists that she is today. The unique style of author Candace for writing down the romance novels has allowed her to set up the plot of her novels in a variety of places and times, her most favorite period being the period of Regency England.
