Cara C. Putman is an American published author.

She has had a passion for writing mysteries ever since her younger days reading the Nancy Drew novels. As a kid, she enjoyed writing and reading and now sees it as training for when she would write novels of her own. She grew up being home schooled.

Putman finished high school when she was just sixteen years old. She grew up in Nebraska and went on to attend college. She studied at the University of Nebraska as well as the George Mason University School of Law, eventually going on to attend the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University.

Once she was done with college she decided to move to Washington, D.C. so she could start a career in public policy.

She is married to her husband and they have four children together, living all together in Indiana. She also lectures at Purdue University in the subjects of ethics and law in addition to practicing law.

Cara first began her journey through writing in 2005. That is when she decided that she would try writing a novel. That year was also when she went to a local Christian bookstore for a book signing, where she would meet Colleen Coble. She confided her dream of writing in Colleen and has been writing ever since.

Cara is also many things besides just an author. She is a believer in God, a mother that home schools, a wife, an active church attender, an instructor, has run mini marathons, is President of ACFW’s Indiana chapter, a blogger, a fan of football, publicity officer for the American Christian Fiction Writers, and a big reader, as well as attorney.

She has gone through the good times and some bad times too. Cara tries her best to try and find a good balance when it comes to juggling a law career, personal life, and her writing. While it seems like she often has life figured out, the truth is that she isn’t perfect and doesn’t have it all together all of the time. However, she credits finding an inner strength to finding strength in God.

Cara C. Putman is the creator and the author of the fictional series of novels known as Cornhusker Dreams. The first novel to come out in the series was published in 2007 and is titled Canteen Dreams. A sequel would follow the first five years later with the publication of the second novel, which is titled Sandhill Dreams. The third novel in the series is called Captive Dreams. The series falls into the genre of Christian romance.

Canteen Dreams is the engaging first novel in the Cornhusker Dreams series. If you have been looking for a new book to read, check out this novel and see what you think!

Main character Audrey Stone is a young woman that lives in the United States. Pearl Harbor has just recently happened, and the bold young lady wants to do whatever she can to assist the war effort. However, she is just a regular woman from Nebraska that makes her living as a school teacher, and she isn’t sure what she can do to help.

A solution comes along when members of her community decide to start up a canteen placed at the train station in town. There she is able to find a role and start helping. Audrey spends as much of her time there as she can, giving simple kindness and food to the various soldiers that come through there.

She’s plenty busy there with lots to do and feels satisfaction in helping the war effort just like she wanted. She’s constantly being engaged while at the station, but in spite of all of this, she allows herself the chance to spend a little bit of time getting more acquainted with a rancher (who just so happens to be very handsome).

Willard Johnson has concerns for his brother. He wanted to go see the world and leave the ranch, so he enlisted with the military. Willard’s worried that he’s going to get himself killed. It appears that his fears were warranted. When this all comes to pass, the rancher feels the drive to avenge his brother’s death by signing up with the navy.

It could be an impulse, or it could be something that he really wants to do. Still, he has his newly beginning relationship with the school teacher to consider. Will he join the navy and leave Audrey alone? Will another handsome soldier steal her away first? Pick up this romance novel to find out!

Sandhill Dreams is the second novel in the Cornhusker Dreams series by Cara C. Putman. If you enjoyed the first novel, be sure to check out the romantic sequel in this series!

Lainie Gardner is the main character in this story, and her dream used to be that she wanted to be a nurse and serve her country. Doing anything important relating to the war was what she desired. But all of that changed with rheumatic fever.

Lainie is determined to not let that stop her and the last thing that she’s going to do is go home to be taken care of by her parents. She wants to go to Fort Robinson to find her own war job, so she goes there, and meets a soldier that has dreams of his own.

Tony’s been scared of dogs ever since he was a kid. That was when he got bitten by one. However, the irony is that he’s at Fort Robinson and his job is to train dogs for war as well as the people that handle them. He feels that the Army could use him a little better, but right now he can’t get out of the job, even though he hates it.

The outpost is out of the way and he feels like he just wants to get out of there. While he can’t see why a woman would desire him, Lainie is one woman he doesn’t mind getting to know. It’s a great distraction from work too. He’s trying to do his job. But does he have a future with this new woman in his life? Read this book to find out!
