Carol E. Leever otherwise known as Carol Ellen Leever was an author of fantasy novels that is best known for the “Of Cats And Dragons” series of novels.

The author was born in Albany, New York to Terry and Bob Leever and when she was still an infant the family moved to Fair Oaks, California. She would then attend St. Mel’s Elementary and for college, she went to “Sacramento State University” and “Mercy H.S., American River College.”

It was at the former where she got her English master’s degree which has served her well as an author.

Leever is a true Renaissance woman who was musically gifted in the flute, guitar, and singing, excelled in competitive swimming, and even got a martial arts black belt. Nonetheless, she is best known as a fine artist and author who has illustrated and written at least eight titles in the fantasy genre.

Carol’s works have achieved great acclaim in audio and print over the years and have had a tremendous impact on whoever she touched.

Outside of her writing, Carol E. Leever has worked as a college professor where she taught Computer Science for more than twenty years. Given that she has been doing it for years, programming computers which is what she loves to do has become just another fun activity rather than a job.

When she needs to provide a good workout for her brain, she usually turns to painting and writing. But aside from her writing, she has also been an avid reader of fantasy and science fiction.

Carol has also been published in the “Sword and Sorceress” anthologies and also worked on the 2023 published “Origins” collection with her best friend Camilla Ochlan whom she met in high school. Camilla her co-author would become more of a daughter, sibling, and family member to Carol E. Leever.

She has also been very active in the designing of book covers and the painting of illustrations in recent times. As a cat lover, she sometimes works her many cats into her programming, painting, and writing classes, much to the dismay of her students.

Following a six-year battle with cancer, Carol E. Leever died at age fifty-seven. At the news of her passing, many of her students expressed their gratitude for how she had made it possible for them to pursue new careers and changed their lives.
As a college professor, she was also well respected and loved by her colleagues all of whom had nothing but good things to say about her.

Even though she never got married, she always had a lot of love for her family and friends. Leever is survived by her parents, her sister Christina, her brothers Robert and Teddy, her nephews, nieces, uncles, and aunts, and Kitsune her cat.

Carol E. Leever’s novel “Night’s Gift” is an engrossing work that introduces the lead as Omen. The man can use his mind to move objects but the thing is controlling it is difficult for him and often results in more problems than solving them.
The one thing he desperately wants to do is to get out of the orbit of his controlling parents and as such, he moves into the city.

He immediately gets into some interesting adventures as his warding bracelet is stolen while his uncontrolled powers threaten to unleash havoc. If it was not for the prince of Hex, an old merchant would have suffered the consequences.

But even though none of them know it, it is just the start of a very long night that will see him get into some very dangerous adventures. The Hex prince and Omen soon have to track down the thief of the warding bracelet, who is working for a dark boss who happens to be a necromancer.

The one thing they have to do to get back what the thief stole is to retrieve one special item. Once they get that item, they realize that they would need to get something else and it is not long before they are fighting evil birds, dead giants, a merman, a witch, and many other monsters coming after them.

“Radiation” by Carol E. Leever is a compulsive work of fiction that continues to follow Omen. The man has to prove maturity, even as he avoids trouble and requests his brother to send him on a quest.

It is not long before he is in a dead world looking for something special and learns how inhospitable the world can get. It is a terrible world and he cannot understand how anything could remain alive in such a world. But it is there that he finds a broken boy who he is determined to take back with him to the world he has gotten used to.

He brings the child to his world and believes he has done his job but nothing could be further from the truth. The kid who is named Kyr has a death curse that haunts his every waking moment.

It may take all of his strength and resources in addition to help from his entire family if he is to protect the vulnerable kid from the curse and those out to get him.

In the meantime, the lead’s sister is on a very perilous journey, as she is looking for an awesome cat and finds herself in a gripping adventure. But it is also a very dangerous quest and with so little experience, she will find it very hard going that everyone is afraid for her.

Carol E. Leever’s novel “Summer’s Fall” continues to follow Omen whose cat just accepted a crazy quest and he has no choice but to jump right in.

Before he knows it, he finds himself on a journey across the “Luminal Sea” on the “Golden Voyage” the miraculous ship. But his journey is anything but smooth and uneventful.

Devastated by a hex, and pursued by a soul stealer with both help and interference from Tyrin the potty mouth and from Tormy, Omen faces ghosts, monsters, and all manner of troubles. He is also accompanied by a reckless Corsair, a cynical spy, a Sundragon scholar, and the prince of Terizkand.

Nonetheless, he has to bring all of his strengths to bear as a cataclysm threatens to swallow the world.
