Carol Lynne has written a lot of novels during her relatively short career, taking the publishing world by storm with the sort of interest and popularity she has attracted. Carol primarily writes Gay literature.

That is the brand with which she is most commonly associated. Carol’s books do not seem to differ that drastically from other books in her genre. They are erotic in nature with elements of romance.

And the story beats are not so different from every other erotic romance novel on the market. Carol’s link to fame is rooted in the fact that her books apply the erotic romance formula to the gay community.

One would assume that the author’s novels would be restricted in their success because they can only appeal to a very specific audience. However, the author has a surprisingly large following even outside the Gay community.

When Carol does listen to music, it is usually in her car as she is driving around town. Those few moments are more than enough to cater to the author’s hunger for music.

Where some people might call Carol overweight, she would rather call herself underheight. When the author isn’t reading or taking care of her children or drinking coffee or even driving around town listening to country music, she is watching Hallmark commercials, which she actually prefers to Hallmark movies.

Carol tends to dabble in both series and standalone novels. When asked about her advice to aspiring authors, she always highlights the importance of not forgetting secondary characters.

While authors can get away with ignoring everyone but the protagonists in standalone novels, Carol doesn’t think a series of novels can survive without a well-developed cast of supporting characters.

Carol has suggested that she prefers standalone novels because they allow her to focus her attention on her heroes; though, with series, she admits that it is fun to explore the lives of all the odd characters that surround her protagonists.

Even though Carol’s books are specifically categorized as erotic romance, she tends to branch out into other genres. The author has written about everything from cowboys to vampires.

The one unifying aspect of the author’s books is the passion and the sex.

Besides writing Gay literature, Carol also organizes an annual conference of sorts that brings together other people like her, authors that write Gay literature. The retreat consumes a lot of Carol’s time and effort but she always persists because of the varied and dynamic fun that usually ensues during the so called GayRomLit Retreat.

Nate, Ryan and Rio stick out like a sore thumb. They might harbor a bit of love for their small Texas town but it eventually becomes obvious that they must find greener pastures elsewhere.

And fortunately for them all, Ryan has a new job in Cattle Valley. He wastes no time in leading his men to a community where tolerance is a virtue. Ryan knows that no one in Cattle Valley will even spare them a second look because of their unique relationship.

However, Ryan is in a better position because he has a job, and being sheriff is bound to keep him busy. Nate and Rio are not so fortunate. They must find a way to make a living in their new home, even with their unique set of skills.

This novel’s strongest aspect is its cute but cheesy atmosphere. Even though it is the first book in the Cattle Valley series, the novel immediately throws readers into the action, making them feel at home in Cattle Valley.

Cattle Valley is amenable to the heroes of the book because most of its inhabitants are Gay. As such, Ryan and his men know that they will fit right in.
