Caroline Peckham is a paranormal romance, new adult romance, young adult fantasy and urban fantasy novelist. While she started out writing on her own, she now works with Susanne Valenti, her sister, to write their novels. Together, they run a crazy but amazing and fun Facebook group where they interact with their readers. Peckham is a native of Kent and lives about ten minutes away from the home where she was brought up. As such, she gets to see her parents any time she wants since they live in the little village that is famous as the place where Winston Churchill made his home. When she is not writing her novels, she can be found at the local pub trying to be cool, going to the gym or binging shows on Netflix.
Growing up, Caroline Peckham fed on a strict diet of “The Beatles” and books. Her father used to read to her all the time as he was a huge fan of fantasy literature. He would read to her books such as “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” even when she was probably not old enough to understand them. By the time the third of the “Harry Potter” novels came out, Peckham was old enough to read them by herself and she was hooked. She also got into other authors during this time that included anything by Katherine Roberts, Victoria Hanley’s “The Healer’s Keep” and Phillip Pullman’s “His Dark Materials.” She used to spend all of her time when she was sick reading these works. It was during this time that she began writing, even as she was in rapture every time a Harry Potter novel came out. She still remembers queuing up at midnight to get the works from the local supermarket. Once she was done and began writing her manuscripts, she wanted to pen something just like that.
While it would seem that Caroline Peckman would study writing in college, she never did that. She had always been passionate about animals and when she went to college she studied Zoology. Nonetheless, she never thought of writing as a career and it was not until she published her debut that she thought maybe there was something there and that she wanted to do it full time. As a person that follows her heart, writing was all about doing what made her happy. The tipping point that pushed her to leave zoology and become an author was when she failed several interviews and started asking herself if she even wanted to work in the field. Since Caroline had always loved reading, it was easy to pivot back to it. She then went on to work on the family business, even as she wrote fantasy manuscripts hoping that one day she would do it full time. Like many authors, she tried the traditional publishing route and after too many rejections, she discovered the amazon Kindle program. Several months later, she learned that success was all about treating writing as a business. It would take about a year for Peckman to publish her debut novel. She now has more than forty novels in the “Rise of Isaac,” “Vampire Games,” “Age of Vampires,” “Forbidden Fairytales,” “Zodiac Academy,” “Devil Heart Boys,” “Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac,” “Boys of Sinners Bay,” “Darkmore Penitentiary,” “Cage of Lies,” “Harlequin Crew,” “Dead Men Walking” and the “Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep.”
“Kings of Quarantine” by Caroline Peckman introduces Tatum, a seventeen year old girl that joins a boarding school. Her father had sent her to boarding school so that she would be safe from the Hades virus that had taken over the world. Even though he is just a scientist, he had trained his daughter to fight, forage for food and shoot if she needed to survive. She had been hoping to remain anonymous until she could move on with her life but life had different plans. She was loving her stay there as she had caught the eye of Blake, a handsome boy in her class and was getting on well with her new roommate. But then she learned that her father was on the run and word on the grapevine was that he could have been responsible for releasing the virus. Things go from bad to worse as Blake, her boyfriend, recently lost his mother to the Hades virus. Together with his friends, they intend to make her pay for what her father had done. But it is never going to be easy as her father had taught her to fight and survive almost anything thrown at her.
Caroline Peckman’s “Kings of Lockdown” sees the ruthless boys go head to head with their number one enemy Tatum. She hates that she is stuck in isolation with the boys that have shown they despise and hate her with a passion. Blake, Kyan and Saint, who call themselves the “Night Keepers,” have taken on the role of Native American monsters that live in the forest near the school. Even though they act like total animals, they are also very tempting to Tatum. Meanwhile, the virus spread is escalating and her father’s name is regularly splashed all over the news. He had taught her how to survive but had also cast a dark shadow over her life as the “Nightkeepers” are determined to punish her for what her father has done. Things get very interesting when she touches a sacred rock that is supposed to have a curse that would make her a slave to the “Night Keepers.” She decides to play along with the crazy idea since she knows there are things they don’t know about her and she intends to surprise them.
“Kings of Anarchy” by Caroline Peckman continues to follow the story of Tatum. She had been taught how to be calculating, cunning and strong by her father but it was the “Brutal Boys” that had made her unbreakable. From the time she had met them, they had become her tribe even though she knew that inside they were monsters just like her. But hiding underneath her innocent looking demeanor is a clawed demon. She is sick of people believing that they owned her and she is going to teach the “Night Keepers” and the members of her club a lesson they will never forget. She is not going to dance to anyone’s tune and certainly not a plaything that can be used and discarded. She is a warrior with her own goals and she intends to obliterate anyone that stands in her way.
