An author of paranormal romance novels, Carrie Pulkinen is an American author with a lot to say and offer in the genre. Writing with a keen sense of fun and wit, she’s been entertaining readers from around the world for quite some time now. Knowing her audience well at this point, she has taken the genre in both new and interesting directions, really pushing the format to a whole new level. Providing a sense of escapist fantasy in each of her stories, her work is compelling and enjoyable, being easy to read yet difficult to put down.

This formula has proven to be hugely successful for her, as she’s a bestselling author both nationally as well as internationally. Early and Personal Life

Always keenly interested in literature and storytelling, Carrie Pulkinen had a fascination for the written word from an early age. Growing up next to a cemetery would also inspire her, with much of her work focusing on the paranormal, as well as romance. Combining the two genres, she would create her own unique approach to the format, creating a whole wealth of books and stories.

Teaching journalism at high school for some time, she would also work as a yearbook teacher, all the while refining and honing her craft. Following this, she would then go on to become a full-time writer, making a name and brand for herself all over the world. Currently living in Houston, Texas, she continues to write to this present day while spending time with her family and always looking for new ideas.

Writing Career

The first book that Carrie Pulkinen would publish was titled ‘To Catch a Spirit,’ and this would also be the first in her ‘Spirit Chasers/Haunted Ever After’ series of books. A collection of paranormal romance novels, they set the template for much of her writing career that was to follow. She would also write other series such as ‘Crescent City Wolf Pack,’ ‘Crescent City Ghost Tours,’ and ‘New Orleans Nocturnes.’

Many of her books would follow along in a similar vein, as she would come to make a name for herself for a certain fun type of paranormal romance novel. Critically acclaimed as well, she would go on to win a number of awards over the course of her career, from the ‘Uncaged Book Reviews Raven Award’ to the ‘InD’tale Magazine’ award. Maintaining a presence both offline and on, she continues to be a vocal spokesperson for her craft, with lots more to follow.

Bound by Blood

This would come out through the Amazon Digital Service publishing platform on the 30th of October in 2018. Setting up the third book in the ‘Crescent City Wolf Pack series, it would carry on with another romance in the same world as before. It has paranormal elements to it, with a fantasy tone as well, making for an engaging and well-written story on multiple levels.

Wanting to save lives, Bryce Samuels, a New Orleans homicide detective, gains a promotion letting him do just that. Turning up at his door bloodied and bruised, Alexis Gentry has had an accident that could potentially endanger both of their lives. As a werewolf with a human cop who doesn’t fully know werewolves exist, she must now guard her heart and her own feelings for both their sake. Will she find peace and what she’s looking for, can they both hope to survive this ordeal, and what will happen as they find themselves bound by blood?

Following on from the other books, this is a series that’s best read in order to get the most out of it, although they can be read as stand-alone. With Alexis returning once again, there’s plenty of character development here, making for an extremely engaging story on multiple levels. Both the romance and the world-building are done with expert precision, as it really brings the series to life once again.

Life’s a Witch

First coming out on the Kindle platform back in 2020 on the 20th of April, this would be the third book in the ‘New Orleans Nocturnes’ series of books. With the characters featured in each of the novels, each title has its own self-contained story, meaning they can be read as stand-alone. They also offer returning fans something to enjoy as well, as it builds upon the world of the novels, with numerous cameos and arcs.

Messing up every spell she attempts, Crimson Oliver is definitely not a good witch, and now the high priestess has threatened to take away her powers rendering her human forever. Challenging the priestess, it looks like the odds are against her, and that’s when the demon devil’s advocate Mike Cortez turns up. Looking for a new assistant for Satan, he has his eye on Crimson, wanting to date her instead of condemning her soul, which he accidentally manages. Will they be able to save her soul from Lucifer, can Crimson keep her powers, and what will become of them both when they find life’s a witch?

Meeting Crimson Oliver for the first time in the previous novel, this book builds upon her character extremely well. The romance is managed with due diligence, ensuring that the reader really cares about them both, as attention is paid to detail. It’s got a fun and imaginative story as well, really leaving a strong impression upon the reader in the process, making another great addition to the series.
