Castle Federation series by Glynn Stewart
Author Glynn Stewart pens the “Castle Federation” series of science fiction novels. The series began publication in 2015, when “Space Carrier Avalon” was released.

The series stars Kyle Roberts, a Wing Commander, that is assigned to different posts for the Castle Federation. He is known as the Stellar Fox. The books focus on his development from just a low-ranking Commander, Air Group, to the architect of the operation that turns the war’s tide and the sacrifices and decisions he and his comrades make on the way.

The series is a far-future transhumanist space opera where the Terran Commonwealth, which is driven by their vision of Unification, are determined to bring every bit of human space under the rule of Earth.

Thirty years ago, they were stymied by the forces of the Alliance of Free Stars, a multi-national force that is led by the Coraline Imperium and the Castle Federation.

The Commonwealth is moving again, some time after the end of the cold war.

“Space Carrier Avalon” is the first novel in the “Castle Federation” series and was released in the year 2015. An ace team gathered together for a final hour, a bygone legend with a washed-up has-been crew, and a cold war that’s simmered to its final hour.

When the Castle Federation deployed the first of the starfighters, they revolutionized war and they drove the Terran Commonwealth out of their space. The first of the carriers for the lethal strike craft was Avalon, the legend that turned the tide of about twelve battles.

That was decades prior. Avalon is now obsolete, just a backwater posting, however still a legend to all the Federation and her enemies and allies alike. Kyle Roberts (a Wing Commander), along with a group of officers get sent to the old carrier in order to take one last tour along the frontier.

Onboard, Roberts finds some broken pilots, outdated fighters, and the key subordinates that just may be traitors. He and all the others are going to get Avalon ready for war once more no matter what. Show tour or not, the old foe has been spotted close to the border, and no matter what, when the call comes in, Avalon’s going to answer!

“Stellar Fox” is the second novel in the “Castle Federation” series and was released in the year 2015. Legendary, yet untested.

Captain Kyle Roberts delivered one of the few victories for the Castle Federation during the early days of the war. Even losing his ship along the way did not keep him from being elevated as the hero that the Stellar Fox his country desperately required. His status with the public demands command that is worthy. Kyle finds he is on the bridge of the Federation’s newest supercarrier and going right to the front lines of the war.

However the Navy sees his promotion as just a public relations stunt. His superiors and subordinates alike all question his lack of experience. At the same time, his foes at the highest level in his own government are working to destroy him.

While the war ramps up all around him, the Commonwealth might not be the biggest threat to Avalon or Kyle Roberts.

“Battle Group Avalon” is the third novel in the “Castle Federation” series and was released in the year 2016. Turning the tide.

The Terran Commonwealth has proved a near-unstoppable juggernaut in its war against the tinier Castle Federation and her allies. However an almost accidental victory by Captain Kyle Roberts from the carrier Avalon opened up a chink in the armor.

Desperate to change the course of the war that they’re losing desperately; the Federation puts together a brand new forward fleet with orders to retake the systems that fell to the enemy.

Outnumbered yet on the offensive at last, Kyle’s got to take the hastily assembled battle group back to the worlds that the Alliance wasn’t able to beat. There he’s either going to die or live by the skills of his own men and the honor of his enemies.

“Q-Ship Chameleon” is the fourth novel in the “Castle Federation” series and was released in the year 2016. Captain Roberts has commanded the carrier Avalon through some of the most vicious battles of the war versus the Terran Commonwealth. However, with the Avalon being in for repair, his political foes deny him being given a new ship.

Unwilling to take a desk job, he takes command of a covert operation using this one captured Commonwealth warship to strike right at the heart of their enemy. They will pull away reinforcements that might just destroy the Alliance’s recent gains.

However the spies that planned this operation have got secrets they’ve yet to share. Their allies have agendas of their own, and the Commonwealth has some surprises of its own!

“Rimward Stars” is the fifth novel in the “Castle Federation” series and was released in the year 2017. One ruthless enemy strikes without any mercy, a helpless ally calls for help, and the fate of empires turns on the smallest of actions.

A minor trade partner sends the Castle Federation a rather desperate call for help, they’ve got few resources to spare from this all consuming war against the Terran Commonwealth. Unwilling to be seen failing any of their allies yet able to just spare a tiny force, Castle sends in a hero that is going to command the task group. Captain Kyle Roberts, the Stellar Fox.

Out beyond the Rimward frontier of the Federation and its allies, little is like it appears. The pirates are being armed by some outside force, and the politics of these worlds is made more lethal by their poverty. When the Coraline Imperium, which is the Federation’s oft-difficult ally, sends forces too, it risks the conflict that might undermine the Alliance that protects each of them.

There are some deeper games here while local schemes play the greatest powers against one another. Captain Roberts is caught in the middle of this chaos while blood and fire explode clear across the region. There is just one certainty: these Rimward Stars cannot fall.
