Cat Groomer Mystery Series
Cat Groomer Mystery is a fiction mystery series by Eileen E.F. Watkins. The series stars Cassie McGlone, a cat groomer who communicates with her feline friends in a way only a cat lover can. Cassie is starting life again in a small new town where she plans to escape from her past woes. While business is excellent in Chadwick, there are challenges. For example, bodies keep on turning up, and somehow, Cassie always gets dragged into the mess, thanks to her job. Fortunately, the young feisty has a good brain, and it seems like she might be on the road to putting back her life together.

The Persian Always Meows Twice
The first in the series is The Persian Always Meows Twice. Cat lovers are relieved when a professional cat groomer comes to town. The young woman is great at her work and does an excellent job of starting and running the business. What the residents of Chadwick town don’t know is that the groomer has a complicated past she is trying to run away from.

Cassie is the owner of Cassie’s Comfy Cats and is known for her gentle touch, where four-legged clients are concerned. She is also feisty, which gives her an edge over her competition. The young woman had recently moved into town after leaving a toxic relationship. In the short time she has spent in Chadwick, Cassie has already created a name for herself. She has a steady flow of customers who request her services even at home.

Things take an exciting turn when a house call to her best client’s home turns tragic. Cassie’s plan was to take care of George Deleuw’s cats as the set appointment stated. However, he finds the Millionaire’s Persian next to his murdered body. Since she is the first person at the crime scene, the police add her name to the long list of suspects.

Cassie starts her investigation in a bid to help the police and also clear her name. Getting information becomes a task when Cassie discovers that Deleuw’s wife and housekeeper are not ready to give any clues. Cassie is allowed to host Harpo after expressing her concern about the cat’s wellbeing. Well, this is before someone tries to get Harpo. The thief thinks that the cat also comes with an inheritance. The person who wants the cat is willing to go to dangerous lengths to get him. Cassie knows that she has to rush against time and catch the killers before they turn on her.

This book is generally about Cassie and her life. As the mystery about the murder gets solved, the reader is introduced to Cassie’s life and the activities she engages in. The story also introduces Cassie’s friend Dawn, her new colleague Sarah, and Mark, the local veterinarian that Cassie has a crush on among other characters.

This is a delightful mystery book that sets the pace for this series. The novel is well-plotted, and the pace is consistent from start to finish. The Bengal Identity
This is book two in the Cat Groomer Mystery series. The book starts with an agitated man showing up at Cassie’s business. The man claims that he has just lost his house in a fire accident and he is looking for a temporary place for his cat, Ayesha. Cassie is reluctant to take in the cat since the owner does not provide any papers. Against her better judgment, she decides to take the cat, but she puts her separate from other borders.

As Cassie is bathing the cat, the brown dye starts to wash off, revealing some beautiful spots. Cassie thinks that what she has in an exotic Bengal show cat, which can only mean that the man stole it. There have also been rumors that a wild cat has been sighted in Chadwick hills. Is it possible that there is a connection between the sightings and the cat in Cassie’s care?

Cassie’s life gets complicated when Ayesha’s owner turns up dead even before she can confront him about the cat. The man is killed in a hit and run accident. All indications show that someone wants the Bengal cat so bad that they are not afraid to kill. Cassie reports her suspicions to the police, and once again, she volunteers to work with them to unravel the mystery. Cassie also has to warn her staff to keep the cat hidden as revealing the whereabouts would only put their lives in danger.

While Cassie takes all the right precautions, it seems like the killers are already a step ahead. A break-in attempt at her shop makes it evident that the secret is out. Soon enough, another body shows up, and Cassie does not doubt that she is next on the killer’s list. Fortunately, she is smart enough to piece a few leads, and it helps that police are also supporting her.

Just like the first book in this series, The Bengal Identity is an excellent read. The suspense here is just right, and you will have a hard time figuring out the killers until the end of the book. The pace is also ok, and the narration is nothing but perfect. Cassie is a great character, and so are the many people she interacts within her business.
