About Cat Schield

Coming from America, the author Cat Schield is a highly regarded novelist of romance fiction, having produced a whole score of contemporary romance titles over the years. With her finger firmly on the pulse of the genre, she’s been a leading figure at the forefront of industry for quite some time now. This has led to her becoming a key personality within the field, knowing exactly what she wants from her stories, and knowing exactly how she’s going to get it. Making sure she pushes the format forwards, she really understands what it is that her readers are looking for, whilst making the most of the many tropes that have come before. Playing by her own rules though, she takes the romantic novel template, and carries it in new and exciting directions, allowing it to flourish in the process.

Whether it’s a series that she’s writing, or simply a stand-alone novel, she always ensures that her characters are fully fleshed out in the process. This makes for a more fully rounded and three-dimensional set of characters, ones which really allow the reader to feel as if they’re really there. Not only that, but her stories and worlds are really well established too, giving them a sense of vibrancy and authenticity quite unlike any other.

Early and Personal Life

Coming from Minnesota where she was born and raised, the author Cat Schield would hold a keen passion for everything literature from an early age. This would also come to be inspired by the world around her, with her many story settings coming to reflect this, as they would provide the backdrop for a lot of her novels. Over time she would continue working on her craft, building upon her backlog of work, harnessing and refining her voice as a writer throughout the years. In her spare time she enjoys sailing, which she does across the St. Croix River, as well as in Europe and the Caribbean, all whilst looking for her next big idea. Currently she still lives in Minnesota to this very day, where she continues to write regularly, living alongside her husband, along with their daughter and Burmese cats.

Writing Career

Over the course of the writing career of Cat Schield, she has won numerous awards for her work as a romance author. Belonging to the ‘Midwest Fiction Writers’ chapter of the RWA as well, she is a key figure within the romantic literature industry too. It was in 2011 that her first book would come out titled ‘Meddling With A Millionaire’, and her career has continued to be a success ever since then, and will continue to be that way for a long time yet.

Her Secret Millionaire

First published in 2011 on the 7th of May by Cat Schield herself, this was set to be a stand-alone contemporary romance title. Not being a part of any series as such, it works entirely on its own merit, allowing it to become a self-contained casual read for the reader. Very much a story of its genre, it manages to provide all the traditional beats of the genre, whilst pulling out some unique surprises of its own along the way.

Taking place on the rural expanses of the great outdoors, this really does manage to set the scene for the characters overall. Letting them guide the action, it witnesses the narrative primarily through their eyes, giving credence to a lot of what takes place within their relationship. Getting a handle on the story itself, Schield really is at the peak of her powers and confidence as a writer here, delivering a strong story once again. The characters themselves are also extremely strong too, giving the reader a clear and concise insight into their mindsets and who they are as people

Most women would be thrilled by the prospect of a handsome cowboy attempts to woo them, especially when the they turn out to be a secret millionaire. This isn’t the case for one Jaime Burnett though, as it appears that she’s been left cold by all the rich suitors that her mother has increasingly pushed her way. Cody Montgomery is different though, and when it transpires that he is actually rich, Jaime finds herself saddened by his deception. This then leads Cody to attempt to win her back, but she isn’t interested in his money, which means Cody is going to need to make some changes. Will he be able to win back the one woman who actually means something? Can she overcome her own reticence? What will become of her secret millionaire?

Secret Child, Royal Scandal

Originally released through the Harlequin romance publishing label, this would first come out on the 5th of April in 2016. It would also set up the third title in ‘The Sherdana Royals’ series of novels, which would all follow on from each other thematically. Whilst there are characters that intertwine, with arcs intersecting, the stories themselves can be seen as stand-alone, allowing them to essentially stand on their own two feet as independent romances.

With stories of princes and romance being fairly traditional fare for such novels, what this does it does really well. Knowing exactly what it’s about and where it’s coming from, it manages to convey a light-hearted tone that elevates it above all the others, allowing the readers to also have fun with it. The characters all have a sense of real charisma and charm about them, speaking with a certain degree of authenticity too. Whilst the world itself is somewhat fantastical, it also has a down-to-earth quality about it too, as it allows the reader to invest themselves within it.

Typically living his life in the fast lane, enjoying the bachelor life as a prince of leisure, Christian Alessandro is a man who’s been enjoying his carefree life as much as he can. That’s when the duty of royalty rears its head, and it’s high-time he settle down and rear the future King of Sherdana, putting his old life behind him. Complicating things though, he finds that one of his old passions, Noelle Dubone, is already rearing a son of his, which means marrying her will make him the legitimate heir. The only problem is though, that Noelle has no intentions of falling in love, now being a successful dressmaker in her own right, but, it seems that Christian is a man not prepared to go down without a fight. Will he get what he wants? Can the two of them settle down and live happily ever after? What will become of the secret child, royal scandal?
