Chad Zunker is a bestselling thriller author best known as the author of the “David Adams” and “Sam Callahan” series of novels. As a teen, he went to the University of Texas, where he graduated with a degree in journalism and also played on the varsity football team. Zunker had always wanted to grow up and become a career author ever since he stepped onto a field and got hit with the full force of a 240 pound 6’5 senior. This was the turning point as it crushed not only the skinny teen but also the dreams he had of one day playing in the NFL. Upon graduation from law school, he went on to work in some of the most prestigious law firms in the US. He has also been a successful inventor with many baby products he came up with sold all over the globe. He made his debut with the writing of “The Tracker,” the debut novel of the “Sam Callahan” series in 2015 and has never looked back since. He currently makes his home in Austin Texas, where he lives with his family.

Zunker’s experience working as a lawyer has had a huge influence in his later writing career. Working for some of the most powerful and prestigious law firms in the United States, he saw how much money thye firms were throwing at top students graduating from law schools hoping to entice them. Just like him, these young inductees into the law would be under a lot of pressure. He still remembers coming into the law office to find many first years sleeping at their work stations as they never had the time to go home and worked throughout the night. He watched the partners plan secret meetings at which they made clandestine power plays, which he says was like watching something out of “Survivor” the TV show. Chad Zunker was also present when the eighty year old law firm with all its money and power crumbled to ashes. It had all been undone by the dark power struggles and greed of the partners. It is from such experiences that he would be inspired to write his legal thriller “David Adams” series of novels.

Chad Zunker had always been attracted to stories where the underdog works hard to beat overwhelming odds. Asa teenager, he had lost his father to cancer and this caused a painful wound and he had many emotional hurdles to overcome. This makes it easy for Zunker to like characters such as Sam Callahan and David Adams. His lead characters are usually struggling to find the reasons for their loss and pain and find their identity. His characters are looking to overcome their past while still trying to make something of their lives. The seed for “An Equal Justice,” his debut thriller novel was planted in his mind more than a dozen years ago. He had walked into a homeless camp and found about twelve men willing to accept him as one of their own. He still remembers walking away from that secret homeless camp thinking there was something very unique about the experience but also incredibly moved. Since he had always wanted to write something for more than just entertainment, he started writing the manuscript for “An Equal Justice.”

“An Equal Justice” by Chad Zunker introduces David Adams, a Stanford graduate with great ambition. He has just been employed by one of the most prestigious law firms in Austin and is on a fast track to a glamorous and wealthy life. It is a personal victory and lofty achievement for a man that had a despairing and impoverished childhood. He has achieved most of the things he always dreamed about including a luxury SUV, a high rise condominium, an extravagant salary and unlimited potential to rise in his firm. But then a fellow associate commits suicide and David is shocked. The man had sent an ominous warning for David a few days earlier. He now cannot help but feel the pull of powerful forces that could trap him with the enviable trappings of money and power. The suicide unexpectedly results in David stumbling into a secret paradise for the homeless. He feels some kind of bizarre affinity with the homeless even as he feels that they hold the key to unraveling some shadowy conspiracy. When one of his close friends is killed, he starts to realize that his feelings of a dark reality are not just a figment of his imagination. He is torn between two very different realities and he may have to surrender all his achievements for the sake of justice.

Chad Zunker’s “An Unequal Defense” sees David Adams the lawyer working for his new found friends in the homeless. He had left his prestigious law firm a year earlier and now has several friends and acquaintances among the homeless who sometimes help him out when he needs something. When a delusional young man named Rebel is accused of killing the county prosecutor he knows he has to help him. But the thing is he had also been good friends with the prosecutor. By representing Rebel, he is going against the advice of many of his friends and all he believed. Working with his motley crew of assistants, they uncover some shocking secrets. They had believed they were investigating an alleyway murder but realize there is more to the story. He is sure Rebel, his friend, is innocent of the crime but will he be able to get him off before it is too late. His friend is not safe in jail even as some of David’s other friends are also getting targeted. He needs to find the answers to the mystery fast.

“Runaway Justice” by Chad Zunker sees David still working for the little guy. He loves working for the downtrodden but he often has to do with very little money. When he is called to the juvenile detention center by a stranger, he immediately heads there to help where he can. He had been called by a boy he never met but what he does not know is that the call will change his life forever. David is working with Jess who has been sentenced to community service but is not upset about having to do it. She is working with Adams and this is something that she always wanted to do. They are working on the case of Parker, a juvenile that witnessed something he should not have and now his life is in danger. Racing against time, they have to find out who is coming after him.

I have read all the current books as David Adams works his way through drama.

Family Money first, and it was awesome but can tell a story without bad language and no sex involvement. Just hinting in the
Background. I am starting the Sam Shepard stories.

I am 74, and a retired English teacher so I read most of the time. Thank you for writing such amazing stories.
