Publication Order of Standalone Novels

Charlotte B. Plumb is an author who is known for her fantasy stories.

She lives in the United Kingdom along with her husband and their pets, a cat and a dog that she describes as being ‘slightly mad’.

Charlotte feel that books are often the closest that people come to experiencing real magic. She likes to day dream about fictional characters that she then writes about on her laptop, if it is not already occupied by her cat.

Her debut book is Reap & Sow, a fictional novel that features the character of Eda Shaw who has inherited a debt that is owed to a demon, and that is not even her biggest problem. It seems like things get even worse every time that she is about to catch a break and this story is the type of book that readers pick up and don’t want to put down until they’ve read more.

Featuring great world-building, a review cites that Charlotte ‘creates a dark, fantastical setting that was just the right amount of everything’. She creates a world that feels ‘both rich and dangerous’ but is also very ‘easy to get lost in’. Eda is a great female main character because of her determination but also her flaws.

The author says that writing this book made her more aware of the way that we can undervalue things that feel ‘distant or abstract’ for immediate gratification. She says that pacts play on that idea, where giving up some years of your life can see like a valuable trade when what you get in return is something that you really want at the moment. The author say that the older she gets, the more that she can appreciate ‘just how valuable those years actually are’.

When creating Blackbridge, the author wanted to explore inequality, corruption and power, as well as the concept that the people with the least amount of options are frequently the ones that must take on the greatest risks.

As for Eda, she will put her ego to the side to protect her family, and Charlotte felt that everything in the character’s world comes with a price and caring about her family makes her realize just how much she is willing to give up for them.

There is also Kit, who is a demon, and Plumb has put the two of them together as a love interest. Charlotte says that she wanted to do something ‘a little different’ by putting together a demon who looks up to humanity with a human who had become disillusioned with humanity. She says that the differences make them foils for each other but they also see ‘just how much they have in common’ as their relationship goes on and even teach each other more about self-acceptance.

Plumb also explores a gray area of who is good and evil instead of having them clearly defined. She tries to capture the nuance of humanity as people and their choices are not always so easily put into categories of good and evil. She explored that idea more using demons and religion as motifs and says that the most interesting characters to her are ‘the ones who exist somewhere in that messy middle’.

Now that Charlotte is a published author, she is much busier. She says that there is a lot that goes into publishing a book and a lot more than she ever understand. It is a group effort and as the author she gets involved in everything from art feedback to editing and campaign ideas. She says that writing as a career and for yourself are very different and she is fortunate to have experienced both.

Charlotte recounts that for years writing was something that she loved but could not think about as a career. Her first book was initially just a file on her laptop and was actually her second book that she had written as the first had gone through unsuccessful queries. She did not let that disappointment get to her and kept writing, eventually getting somewhere with Reap & Sow.

Reap & Sow is a 2026 book by Charlotte B. Plumb. If you’ve been looking for something original to read but you have no ideas for new books and you really want to get started (and love fantasy), this is the book for you!

When a young woman realizes that she has to do something to save her brothers, she ends up making a bargain with a demon. She then ends up losing her heart to him in a romantic fantasy that finds love paired together in the most unlikely of places.

The people in Blackbridge without money do not have many options. If they want something, they have to choose between selling their body or selling their soul. Business is very much doing well, thanks in part to Eda Shaw.

Eda is indentured to a demon called Mr. Night and she works with her brothers to set up illicit Pacts for him. They take the most desperate people in the city and trade years of their lives in exchange for getting to have their deepest desires.

Then a Pact goes wrong and her brothers end up getting arrested as a result. From that point on, Eda starts to understand that she is going to need someone else on her side. This ends up being Kit’rath, a demon who immediately gets under her skin. But he also has an interesting soft spot for humanity and he also is the only one in Blackbridge that seems to make Mr. Night afraid.

They have to work quickly if they want to save her family as well as help the city and rescue it from ruin. As the demon and the mortal end up sharing a connection, can Eda keep from losing her heart to Kit who now has her years? Is this true love or just something that is fleeting? Read Reap & Sow from Charlotte B. Plumb to find out what happens in the end!
