Christian Blauvelt is a philosophy, media, and nonfiction author from Tampa Bay, where he was born and brought up, even though he spent more than a dozen years in New York City.

He is best known for novels such as the story of how the American movie industry made contributions to the war effort during World War II in the novel “Hollywood Victory.”

Right from when he was still very young, Christian Blauvelt was a huge lover of movies, especially anything set in the 1940s or Florida.

It was his mother who introduced him to some incredible TCM movies and by the time he was a high schooler, he was obsessed with TCM movies.

He used to plot what he would watch each month by trawling through the magazine-style print publication from TCM.

It was during this time that she developed a love for movies from the 1940s, which he found to have something special, particularly anything to do with the war effort.

He found the uncertainty about who would win the war and who were the good and bad guys a great recipe for a story. In addition to watching war movies, he also watched the earliest of Alfred Hitchcock’s melodramas.

Always interested in media and culture, Christian Blauvelt worked in several places and ultimately ended up managing editor of Indiewire.

He has spent more than a decade working as a culture and entertainment journalist where he has covered visual arts, film, classical and pop music, and television.

He is a regular guest on “CBS New York,” where she usually offers awards season analysis and previews of upcoming films.

He has also contributed to “Talking Movies” on BBC World News and has given talks at the San Diego Comic-Con and South by Southwest in addition to being a regular moderator and host for the BAFTA and the SAG-AFTRA Foundation.
He authored a primer to the George Lucas saga Star Wars in Star Wars “Made Easy” in 2017. In 2016, he was on the list of 30 rising talents in media by “Cablefax Magazine.”
In 2017 “BBC Culture” which he ran won Best Cultural Website Webby’s People’s Voice Award.
