Christine Pope is a science fiction, fantasy, and romance author who has been penning stories ever since she could hold a pencil. When she was a grade-schooler, her parents brought home a typewriter that they wanted to use for family purposes. Pope immediately commandeered the machine and was amazed that writing on it was so much easier than by hand. By the time she was eleven years old, she had penned her first story that was a horrible piece of writing she hopes will never see the light of day. The story was penned on the very same typewriter that got her interested in writing. While it was a terrible piece of writing it gave her the motivation and belief that she could become a writer. She continued writing during her high school years and when she proceeded to college, but then stopped as life got in the way. Seven years later, her interest in writing was revived as she got into fan fiction and wrote several works that are still out there on the internet. In 2010, she sold three manuscripts she had written to a small e-publisher and she was off to the races. She would then decide to focus on magazines and would spend several years as an editor for several magazines. Christine Pope currently works as a freelance editor and pens her fiction during the weekends and evenings.
A few years after publishing her works from a small publisher, the self-publishing revolution took off and Christine Pope decided that she would be best served going that route. Since she had a background in graphic design and editing, she started doing much of the work involved in publishing. Once she published her debut novel “Bad Vibrations” in 2011 and experienced some success, she decided to employ proofreaders, editors, and designers. However, she still does her website designs and formatting. It was while she was researching her debut novel in the “Sedona Files” series of novels that she lived in Sedona. She also lived in Santa Fe for several years while she was researching the “Djinn Wars” series. Pope currently has more than eighty novels in the “Sedona Files,” “Gaian Consortium,” “Tales of the Latter Kingdoms,” “Witches of Cleopatra Hill,” “Devil You Know,” “Djinn Wars,” “Watchers,” “Witches of Canyon Road,” “Project Demon Hunters,” “Witches of Wheeler Park,” and the “Hedgewitch for Hire” series of novels alongside several single standing novels. Her biggest novel to date is “Fringe Benefits” that is a contemporary romance novel though she writes in all manner of genres. She has written novels the historical romance, paranormal romance, science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres. Pope believes that she has written in so many different genres as she has shiny object syndrome that also extends to her shoe collection.
Christine Pope’s “Darkangel” is the debut novel of the “Witches of Cleopatra Hills” series of novels. The paranormal romance series is set in Jerome, Arizona, a haunted city that has always been in the news for negative reasons. The lead in the novel is Angela McAllister, the future head witch or prima of her clan. When she turns twenty-one she is expected to bond with her consort who will grant her access to powers that have been set aside for her since time immemorial. But her twenty-first birthday is fast approaching but the consort is nowhere to be found. In her dreams, she keeps on seeing a strange man she believes could be her destined consort. But as the clock is ticking dark powers are seizing the opportunity and are now gunning for her powers. Angela now has to choose between leaving her clan at the mercy of malicious enemies out to ruin them, and the safe path of looking for the man of her dreams that she may never meet.
“Darknight,” the second novel of the series by Christine Pope is a paranormal romance in the same setting of Jerome, Arizona. Angela McAllister has been kidnapped and now sees a dark future ahead but then learns that the man she has been seeing in her dreams since she was a child is the brother of her captor. She now has to re-evaluate everything she has been taught to believe about the witches of Wilcox. Despite the generational hostility between the Wilcoxs and the McAllisters, coupled with the disapproval from her close family, Angela is determined to pursue the powerful connection she feels for Connor Wilcox. When a malignant and dark force comes to the fore, Angela knows she needs to draw on her increasing powers as a clan witch to protect allies and enemies alike. But her choice threatens to tear her fragile new love apart.
Christine Pope’s “Darkmoon” is set one hundred and fifty years in the past when the Wilcox clan had been cursed. Because of the curse, generations of women have been doomed to die early if they dared to sire a child from the Jeremiah Wilcox bloodline. But Angela McAllister has decided to bear a Wilcox as she is now carrying a child she sired with Connor Wilcox. If she does not manage to break the curse, things are going to turn out very badly for her. The solution she needs can be found in her dark past and from a woman that is responsible for casting the curse all those years past. If Angela can find the solution to the curse, she stands to transform the lives of the McAllister and Wilcox women that have suffered the curse for years. She may also just be about to change everything she ever believed about her family and herself.
