Christopher Smith is an author residing in Hermon, Maine who has sold more than three million books. His notable works are the Fifth Avenue and Bullied series, as well as the standalone novel You Only the Die Twice. For fifteen years, he was a film critic for the Bangor Daily in his home state of Maine as well as appearing on NBC affiliated stations for eight years and the E! Entertainment network for two years. With over four thousand film reviews, in 2010, the Motion Picture Association named him that year’s Best Film Critic. His reviews are compiled in the “Queued!” series, each of which comprises a hundred of his reviews of some, of the best and worst films on Netflix and other streaming sites. He has also written Your Movie Gave Me Hives, which contains nearly a hundred and fifty more reviews of some, of the worst films Christopher has reviewed over his career. The success of his novels attracted the attention of literary agent Matt Bialer.
The 5th Avenue series, a thriller series which begins with the eponymous Fifth Avenue, is an international best-seller, and was published in 2010, although Christopher had begun working on it during his time studying English and business at the University of Maine. The1st book in series is the novel where greed, blood, and revenge intertwine with an unprepared society. One man, Louis Ryan, seeks to destroy another for the murder of his wife three decades before. George Redman, his wife, their children, and their friends are nothing but targets to Louis. Both men are wealthy, rising from nothing to make their mark on Fifth Avenue. But when Louis Ryan hires an international hitman to tear the Redman’s apart in his quest for revenge, it sets into motion a chain of events that form the backbone of an international best-selling thriller.
The Running according to the Bulls, the sequel to Fifth Avenue, finds intrepid private investigator Marty Spellman racing to stop two international assassins, Vincent Spocatti and Carmen Gragera- as vicious as they come, from keeping the body count growing. With his family threatened, and with nowhere to turn, who can he trust as the two psychopaths seek to fully ignite their killing spree under the direction of once-imprisoned Maxmilian Wolfhagen, seeking to get revenge on those who sold him out to the SEC five years previously? The Running according to the Bulls proved that Christopher’s success with Fifth Avenue was no fluke, as it took two weeks to reach Amazon’s Top 100.
In Christopher Smith’s second international best-selling series Bullied-the relentlessly bullied 18-year-old Seth Moore has . With proper use and can as well be humiliated, can Seth resist creating the firestorm of horror when his tormentors cross the line one time too many? And when hell break loose, the war builds around Seth as the others vie to be taking control of this amulet as well as use its powers for their own ends.
The 1st book in the Bullied series, appropriately titled Bullied, is the intense paranormal thriller that departs from the glitz and glamor of his previous works. Seth Moore, an 18-year-old victim of relentless bullying and torment by his peers, finds himself in possession of an amulet that bestows to him powers far beyond human scope. With the knowledge of his powers in hand, can Seth resist the call of revenge when his tormentors finally go too far? And what of the people seeking the amulet’s power for themselves? Can he survive the war that threatens to engulf him and the people he holds dear?
Revenge, a thirty thousand word novella that is the sequel to Bullied, finds Seth Moore facing the ugly consequences of what eight students have done to him and his family by Bullied’s end. Determined to tap into the amulet’s powers for revenge, and feeling that death is too good for these tormentors, Seth finds colorful ways to exact his revenge. With his connection to the amulet growing, the charm’s original owners have taken notice and will do anything to reclaim it. To compound matters further, there is a beautiful witch who would like nothing more than to use Seth’s amulet for her own invincibility. With growing twists as the plot develops, Seth’s power grows, but is it enough to stop the war around the amulet? And will his power be enough to keep him alive?
His standalone novel, You Only, Die Twice, is perhaps his most controversial and gripping to date. The violence ended Cheryl Dunning’s life once. A miracle brought her back. Now, if being hunted in Maine’s woods by two serial killers wasn’t enough, they’re fanatics. Armed with Bibles, guns, and a Crusader’s zeal, they are determined to find Cheryl and murder her for what they perceive as her “life’s worth of sins.” But a Maine girl- born and raised- knows every inch of those woods, and Cheryl plots to use that knowledge to save her own life before the two fanatics send her to a second grave.
His film reviews have been compiled into three books, two volumes of Queued!: The Best and Worst of Netflix in 101 Independent Movie Reviews, and Your Movie Gave Me Hives. Your Movie Gave Me Hives is a compilation of nearly a hundred and fifty of Christopher’s favorite reviews over his fifteen-year career as a critic, ranging from “The Phantom of the Opera” to “Ocean’s Twelve”.
The first volume of Queued! seeks to provide the reader with a guide that wades through the muck of the offerings available on Netflix and other online streaming sites in an effort to give an idea of the best films to watch, as well as the ones to stay far away from. The second offers the same with a different set of movies, and each volume contains a hundred and one reviews. Some urge the reader to add the film to the list of things to watch, while others urge the reader to stay as far from that film as possible. Many of his film reviews led Stephen King to acknowledge him as a ‘cultural genius’, and King is an avowed fan of Christopher’s work.
