Cindy Cole’s “Newport Beginnings” is a story set in Newport Beach, where we get to spend time with Jen Watson, her neighbors, children and best friends.
She had tried very hard to convince her brother to keep their vacation house in the previous novel. Together with her children and friends,they had managed to keep the house that had been in the family’s possession for generations.

Yet again, she finds herself throwing in her lot with Dirk, even as her ex comes back into her life in addition to Bethany, her stepdaughter that she has not seen for years.

Her sister Faith is now working on Balboa Island, where she works for an eclectic little boutique. She is now forced to make major decisions when the school year begins and the owner goes missing.

It is a great afternoon read by the beach, as the three long time friends revisit Newport Harbor to cook, love, live and walk Daisy. You may call it something of a mid-life crisis as all three take different roads as one is mainly alone, another widowed while yet another is divorced.
