Colleen Faulkner
Colleen Faulkner is the daughter of Judith E. French, a bestselling author. Colleen has also written under the names of V. K. Forrest and Hunter Morgan.

As a Southern Delaware resident, Colleen has won numerous awards, which include The Diamond Award for literary excellence in the state of Delaware that she received in 1999.

When Colleen isn’t busy writing, she enjoys spending time with her kids, grandkids, and traveling around the world.

“Julia’s Daughters” is a stand alone novel that was released in 2015. Julia Maxton is unable to imagine anything worse than losing one of her three daughters, until the day that Haley (17 years old) runs a stop sign and kills Caitlin, her younger sister. Six weeks after the crash, and the family’s falling apart. Julia struggles to not show hostility toward Haley, however her deep rooted anger just won’t go away. Ben, her husband, has drifted away emotionally speaking. Izzy, their youngest daughter, has gotten lost in the shuffle. Despite Haley’s insistence that she is fine, her actions scream otherwise.

Julia, who fears that she is about to lose another child, decides she should take Haley on this cross-country drive. Possibly somewhere between Nevada and Maine they can possibly bridge the gulf that’s between them. However there first will be some painful questions to face. Is she a good mom? Did she secretly love respectful and responsible Caitlin more than the defiant Haley? Can Haley ever find peace with her mom, and herself, again?

Exploring the surprising ways that families, even the most fractured, are able to save each other, again and again.

“What Makes a Family” is a stand alone novel that was released in 2017. Brodie Island, nestled in the Chesapeake Bay is charming, slow to change, and remote. For three hundred years now, Abby Brodie’s farming family has prospered there. Now, some years later after leaving to make her own way, she’s coming home to see her ailing grandma, with her teen daughter and a slew of memories in tow. But while family members gather together at this old farmhouse, Abby realizes that this visit offers up more than just the chance to say goodbye.

After decades of feeling as though she was a disappointment as a daughter, Abby’s starting to see that her mom has also struggled to feel a sense of belonging within the Brodie family. Celeste, who is Abby’s self centered sister, is far from the successful actress that she pretends to be, and needs help that just Abby and Joseph (their half-brother) are able to give. However most surprising of all is the secret that Grandmother Brodie has been hanging onto this whole time. It’s one that will make each of the women question her own identity and the sacrifices that she is willing to make in order to gain acceptance.

Colleen lays bare the challenges at a family’s heart, learning how to connect, forgive, and allow ourselves to be truly known at last.

“Finding Georgina” is a stand alone novel that was released in 2018. What happens after you get what you have always wanted? A mom gets reunited with the daughter that was abducted as a toddler, just to face some painful and unexpected challenges.

It is the moment that Harper Broussard has always dreamed of. Georgina, her daughter, was snatched fourteen years ago during a Mardi Gras parade, and is now standing before her, making cappuccinos behind the counter of Harper’s favorite New Orleans coffee shop. Remy (Harper’s ex-husband) has patiently endured numerous such “sightings” through the years, and he just assumes this is yet another false alarm. But this time, Harper’s right.

The woman that kidnapped Georgina admits her crime. Georgina, or Lilla as she’s known now, comes back to her birth parents. However in all of Harper’s homecoming fantasies, her daughter was still only a little girl, easily pacified with a cherry snowball or a trip to the park. In reality, she is a confused and wary teen that has never known any mom but the loving woman that is now serving time. Josephine, Harper’s younger daughter, has spent her entire life competing with the ghost of her perfect yet missing sister. Attempting to bond with the imperfect and real version is not much easier. And even though Remy’s agreed to give their strained marriage one more shot, he and Harper struggle in their efforts to connect.

Clinging to her dreams of reuniting has been Harper’s key to surviving. Now she has to forge some new ones on this often heartbreaking yet ultimately hopeful journey, one which will redefine her own idea of family and motherhood.

“Our New Normal” is a stand alone novel that was released in 2019. How much can you give when you have already given everything? The mom of a pregnant teen learns that there are no easy answers, and that a mistake proof life might not be worth living.

Liv Ridgely prides herself on being the responsible wrangler of everything family: caretaker of elderly parents, stay at home mom, supporter of her husband’s career, and the savior of her wayward sister. Now that her son’s off to college, and Hazel (ambitious daughter) just a year away from following him, it is Liv’s turn. She has even established her dream career of bringing beautiful old homes back to life in the most picturesque part of Maine.

Up until she discovers that Hazel, age 16, is three months pregnant. Hazel insists that she will have this baby and raise him with Tyler, her boyfriend who is nobody’s idea of a model dad. Obviously there are going to be some conflicts to iron out. Liv just never expected that they would be with her husband.

As it turns out, Oscar and Liv have some wildly different ideas about what they should do. It might be because Liv, who got adopted, has her own unique point of view on this child’s future. And it might also be because, as a mom, she knows better than anybody just how Hazel’s young life is going to be changed forever. While the family fractures in every direction, past pain and resentments come tumbling out. After years of putting other people first, Liv wonders if she can possibly do what is best for her parents, her daughter, and her marriage, all while staying true to herself.
