About Colleen Gleason
Writing mostly paranormal and romantic suspense novels, American writer Colleen Gleason has made a strong name for herself as an author of both skill and imagination. Focusing on the Young Adult demographic for much of the time, she really understands her readers, ultimately giving them what they want. She is also known for writing in an authentic and genuine manner, creating a rapport with her readers quite unlike any other.
Early and Personal Life
Born and raised in the city of Detroit, the American writer to be Colleen Gleason would grow up with a keen passion for the written word. Coming to know and understand her craft deeply, she would harness her love of literature, particularly that of the fantasy genre, which she would also come to develop throughout the years. Beginning her love of writing in primary school, she would come to write over nine fully complete stories before she’d even published her first book.
Attending the University of Michigan, she’d gain a BA along with an MFA in English, qualifications which allowed her to develop herself as a writer. Prior to writing full-time, she worked in marketing, as well as starting her own business which was based within the field of insurance. Currently putting out novels at a regular and consistent pace, she lives with her husband near to Ann Arbor in Michigan.
Writing Career
Publishing her first novel in 2007, Gleason commenced her literary career with the title ‘The Rest Falls Way’, which was also the first in her ‘Gardella Vampire Chronicles’ series of books. These would continue on for quite some time, spawning a number of spin-off series along the way, such as the ‘Macey’ and ‘Victoria’ series of novels. Over time she would also come to write a number of other titles as well, such as her much loved ‘Medieval Herb Garden’ series of titles as well.
Going under a variety of different pen-names too, she can also be found using the pseudonyms ‘Colette Gale’, ‘C M Gleason’ and ‘Joss Ware’. She has used these to write various other series too, such as the ‘Envy Chronicles’, which she wrote using the ‘Joss Ware’ moniker. Collaborating with other authors too, she has written alongside the likes of Mary Balogh, Janet Mullany and Susan Krinard, putting out Jane Austen inspired stories.
The Bleeding Dusk
This would be the third title in ‘The Gardella Vampire Hunters’ series of books, continuing on from the last and making way for the next. First released in 2008 on the 5th of February, this would originally come out through the Signet publishing house to much acclaim, with a fan-base having already formed worldwide. Whilst it continues the action, recreating the style and the tone of the first two, it also manages to stand by itself, providing plenty of exciting twists and turns along the way.
Bringing fantasy and romance together, this contains all the hallmarks of a classic fantasy novel, allowing the reader to immerse themselves heavily within its world. From the characters themselves to their surrounding environment, extreme attention to detail is paid here, with nothing left out. This makes for a believable world that the reader can easily escape into, allowing them to essentially become a part of the action. It also provides a sense of foreshadowing for what’s to come as well, setting up many important plot points along the way too.
With the undead of Rome desperately racing against the clock to solve an ancient mystery, it is up to one woman to stop them all. Preparing itself for its Carnivale, Rome is making plenty of preparations, and it is in this setting that Lady Victoria Gardella, the leader of the city’s vampire hunters, must prove herself. Looking to gain access for themselves to the ancient secrets of a once legendary alchemist, the vampires of the city have chosen to align themselves with all manner of evil creatures. Allying herself Sebastian Vioget, Victoria must put her desires to one side if she is to defeat these most evil and deadly of enemies. Will she manage it and can she hold the forces of evil at bay? Can she remain loyal to fellow slayer Max Pesaro amidst all of this? What will happen during the bleeding dusk?
The Vampire Narcise
Setting up the third entry into the ongoing series titled ‘The Draculia Vampire’ trilogy of novels, this carries on from the previous instalment. Initially published on the 24th of May in 2011, this was first brought out through the ‘Mira’ publishing label to much anticipation worldwide. It would not only develop the world and the characters of the series, but it would also wrap everything up, finalizing the series as a whole.
With romance and fantasy combined, this is a highly seductive story with a lot to offer, providing something for both fans and newcomers alike. Taking the characters and developing them, it really works in the sense of its world-building, creating an overall tone of foreboding of what’s to come. Clearly showing a rich and imaginative flair, this is definitely Gleason at her peak, as it takes the reader on a journey into another world. She is also a writer that very much has something to say too, allowing her idiosyncratic and distinctive voice to shine through on each and every page throughout.
Highly skilled in her ability to seduce men, whether they be immortal or mortal, Narcise Moldavi is a powerful weapon within the war of the Dracule. Used by her brother for his own personal twisted agenda in the war, she has now fallen for one Giordan Cale, which could potentially change everything. Vowing to help Narcise escape her brother, Giordan offers her a promise of freedom, but she soon faces a betrayal that proves to be extremely painful. Ensnaring Chas Woodmore the vampire hunter, she uses him in her quest for revenge, as he worships her and will kill for her, something she will use to her own end. Will she manage to get her revenge? Can she fight for herself in the war of the Dracule? What will become of the vampire Narcise?
