R.A. Salvatore is an American author of fiction and writer, creative director, and producer of video games. Born on January 20, 1959, his full given name is Robert Anthony Salvatore. He is known for The DemonWars Saga, as well as the Forgotten Realms series.

The Forgotten Realms first introduced the character of Drizzt. This artist is also incredibly well known for writing Vector Prime, first in an exciting series of Star Wars novels. His books are popular and his novels have sold over 15 million copies in the U.S.

He has established quite a fan base and his books have made it to the top of the list of bestselling novels many time (a total of 22 times although there is always room for more). It is safe to say that he is one of the most well-known and successful authors to write in the fantasy genre.

R.A. Salvatore has a huge following and you can see that reflected; his books are a regular feature on the bestseller lists. The Two Swords debuted at number one for the Wall Street Journal’s bestseller list. His novels have been published all over the world and his works are adapted to other languages like Spanish, Bulgarian, Russian, French, Turkish, Finnish, Greek, and more!

Salvatore first became an officially published author with the release of the first novel in 1988. That was also when the arrival of the dark elf named Drizzt Do’Urden was cemented into literary history for all of time after that. Since then, he has written more novels for his multi-volume series and stories for other engaging and unique series as well.

He first became interested in fantasy and literature during his second year of college. That was when he received a copy of a classic book by Tolkien as a gift over the holidays. Intrigued by the written word, he changed from studying computer science as a major to journalism. He graduated Fitchburg in 1981 with a B.A. in communications.

Later he went back to complete an English degree and received his Bachelor of Arts. 1982 was when he started writing seriously, and he took a crack at writing a manuscript. the manuscript was written that would go on to be the first book of his Ynis series. He has had many other jobs before being a writer, and now he has finally committed to writing full time and left the other jobs to others.

His old college has also established The R.A. Salvatore Collection. This contains the manuscripts, papers, and letters connected to the writer. The collection is located along the Robert Cormier Library, another alum and author of books for young adults with a voluminous career.

He is a member of the community and serves with the board of trustees in Leominster, Massachusetts at the local library. He is active in regional conferences given by the American Library Association and has given talks on a variety of themes. This includes adventure fantasy as well as the reasons why the fantasy genre is such a popular reading choice among young adults.

Salvatore has many favorites and influences. He loves all authors from Shakespeare to Twain and Joyce and Chaucer as well as Doyle and Fleming. He is a native of Massachusetts, has three children, and lives in the state with his wife. He enjoys doing a variety of activities when he is not busy writing and likes to chase his dogs, go for long walks, go to the gym, coach a softball team and play softball too, and meet with his gaming group on Sundays.

Salvatore is the creator and writer of the Companions Codex series The series kicked off in 2014 with the release of the debut novel in the fictional series, titled Night of the Hunter. The sequel quickly came after, titled Rise of the King. The next year, Vengeance of the Iron Dwarf came out and made the series a trilogy.

Night of the Hunter is the first book in the Companions Codex by Salvatore. Drizzt Do’Urden makes his dazzling and intriguing first appearance as readers get to meet the dark elf in the debut story of this series.

No stranger to trudging through obstacles to get what he wants, Drizzt is making his return to a land called Gauntlgrym with the help of some friends. Together they have the goal of finding a shield dwarf that has turned into a vampire. Drizzt and his posse may be up against a dangerous journey as they travel and make their way through an Underdark and risk the dangers of the dead that are contained inside.

They must go up against various other obstacles along the way too. Drizzt is on a mission where they may not make it to the end. When they come up against a colony of deadly drow that want to desperately take him out for good, it may be the end of their quest to rescue Bruenor’s shield dwarf.
