The Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman series is a series of well known books based on the crime fiction genre. This series is written by one of the highly reputed authors from The United States named J.B. Lynn. There is a total of 16 books published in this series between the years 2012 and 2016. All the books in the series follow the events in the life of the lead character named Margaret Lee, who is referred to as Maggie by her friends. Author Lynn has described Maggie as a better for her profession as a professional killer and highly motivated to succeed in life. She has a mentor in the form of Patrick Mulligan, who teaches her all the tricks of being a hitwoman. At the beginning of the series, Maggie is shown having a deep backstory, which makes the readers understand about her actions and choices. Author Lynn has very well described as to why she could not turn down the offer of becoming a hitwoman when she received it for the first time. As the series progresses, Maggie appears to be more suited to the job. Even though she likes to use surprising and subtle ways to do her job, she seems pretty much good at it. Apart from Maggie, the side characters created by author Lynn in the series also help to make the stories rich. One of the popular side characters is Godzilla, the niece of Maggie. She is referred to by her short name God. The first book in this series was published under the same title as that of the series. It was published by the Impulse publishers in the year 2012. The plot of this interesting book opens up by showing Margaret Lee as a non-average hitwoman. In spite of being termed as a hitwoman, it seems very funny that she has not killed anyone in her life.

In the past, she was involved in a car incident that left her with severe head injuries. In the same accident, her sister named Katie has lost her life. After this, the only family member left in Margaret’s life is her niece named Godzilla, the daughter of Katie. Since the accident, Margaret has made a new best friend in the form of a talking lizard. This picky eater seems very much obsessed with the ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and this obsession can only be heard by Margaret Lee. Maggie is shown as hardly being able to take good care of herself. But, she seems desperate enough to help her orphaned and injured niece. She wants to provide the best medical care available for Godzilla’s treatment so that she could recover completely. But, it would require a lot of money and does not seem to have any at the moment. In her desperation, she agrees to carry out a lucrative job for a mobster. Maggie accepts the job of killing the mobster’s monstrous son-in-law in exchange for money required for Godzilla’s treatment. For the first time in her life, she gets paired with Patrick Mulligan. He has a charming personality and mentors Margaret Lee to become a murderer. Patrick Mulligan happens to moonlight himself as a police detective. As there is no other job that could help her fetch so much money, Maggie reluctantly stumbles down the path of her new career. However, she moves forward with some self doubts. One of the other reasons that she agrees to become a hitwoman is that she hates her day job very much and wants to quit it as soon as possible. Maggie has 3 distant aunts, who keep meddling her all the time. Also, she has a semi-psychic friend who always predicts her doom. The main threat that Maggie faces while accepting her new role is from a sexy beat cop named Paul Kowalski. He could easily throw her in jail if he comes to know about what she is up to in her recent career. While training under Patrick Mulligan, Maggie finds it very difficult. But, she knows that she has to undergo it anyhow as she has to carry out the important job for the mobster. Maggie also knows that if she is not able to do it, she will herself become the next target of the mobster.

One of the other popular books published in the series by author J.B. Lynn is titled as ‘The Hitwoman And The Neurotic Witness’. This book was published in the year 2013 as a Kindle edition. At the start of the story of this book, author Lynn has depicted that Maggie Lee’s apartment gets blown by someone. As a result, she is forced to return back to where she grew up. Maggie does not seem to have any other choice than to live with her 3 meddling aunts and she finds it very difficult to live with them. It just happens so that the her aunts’ place in Bed and Breakfast is also occupied by an FBI agent and a U.S. Marshal. There is also one of her old friends named Zeke living there, who always seems to be on some mysterious mission, as well as a woman who says that she is able to see dead people. Margaret Lee knows that these people are not the kind of roommates with whom she wants to spend her time. Her situation seems to be even more difficult because of the fact that she has taken up the job of killing people in order to supplement her income so that she could pay for the better treatment of her niece. Maggie Lee tries very hard to avoid arrest and keeps her activities very low when she is with her roomies.

Somehow, she manages to deal with her crazy home life and at the same time, tries to track down the person who has started blowing up the homes of the crime families. The matters become even worse for her when she walks down a tight rope precariously in her attempt to keep her mob bosses happy as well as protect her mentor and lover Patrick Mulligan. Maggie befriends the semi-psychic woman and gets aided by her warped predictions. She also receives help from her demanding, sarcastic, and talking lizard, and her dyslexic and ravenous Dobberman. While dealing with all the current activities in her life, Maggie feels that she is juggling to keep her secrets from the world. She continues to try and unravel the riddles related to the blowups happening around her and at the same time tries to protect her loved ones desperately. And during the whole time, she keeps wondering whether she will be able to do everything on her own. Maggie fears very much to suffer any more personal losses at this moment of time.
