Constance Barker is an American published author of fictional novels.

The author is married to her husband and they reside in the Midwest along with their two Akitas. Constance loves standing in her screen porch area at home, where she can take in a variety of activity that goes on in the forest.

Perhaps it was destined that she should go on to write cozy mystery novels herself. Constance has been reading since she was young, and always loved mysteries. Her grandmother would often give her a particularly interesting mystery to read. She would enjoy trying to figure out who the character responsible would be and would sometimes be right! However, other times she would be surprised at who the author thought the assailant was.

Constance is now all grown up and enjoying writing mysteries herself. She is the author of the Sweet Home Mystery series, the Caesars Creek Mystery series, the Teasen and Pleasen Hair Salon series, co-author with A.J. DeBellis of the Whispering Pines Mystery series, the Mad River Mystery series, and many, many more.

She loves to write stories. When Constance is not busy doing that, she can be found going to Las Vegas, her favorite destination for a vacation, or in the store shopping around for some good bargains.

Lily is the main character in this mystery novel where liquid black gold, a town piranha, and an iron skillet all have to factor in somehow. Lily is used to living in the small town of Sweet Home, where residents are friendly to each other and not that much happens. It’s a quiet place with a low crime rate and you would never expect anything bad to happen.

However, Sweet Home is not immune to bad things happening, and Lily is about to find that out firsthand for themselves. They run the popular coffee shop in town called the Coffee Cabana and are used to occupying themselves by selling a nice steaming hot cup of joe to their local friends, patrons, and customers. But what is about to happen next will surely be bad for business if it gets out.

Lily has just let herself into the Coffee Cabana with her two aunts when they find something that definitely wasn’t there when they left. There is someone lying dead in their little coffee shop, and all three of them know exactly who it is. They’re shocked to see that on the floor of their coffee shop is Fannie Diddlemier.

Lily and her aunts are more shocked that there is a dead body in their coffee shop than to find out who it is. Fannie had a long list of enemies that she had certainly put her time into earning. She was one of the most hated women in town, and now someone has finally done something about it. This is certainly not a situation that is going to be good for business, but it is going to provide a lot of gossip once the information spreads in this small town.

Lots of people hated Fannie and was largely viewed as a vile woman. However, someone else appears to have hated her more than all the rest of her enemies. They hated her enough to kill her. The news hits the town fairly quickly and before you know it, everyone is gossiping about who might be responsible for the dastardly deed.

Fannie Diddlemier had a weekly publication where she talked negatively about other people. It was earning her enemies left and right four times a month. She may not have been the nicest person, as Lily knows, but did she deserve to get murdered?

Lily decides that she is going to find out who did this to Fannie and settle the mystery once and for all. With the help of her two aunts, she is determined to set out and find just the culprit who thought they could murder someone and get away with it. Even if it was a vengeance killing, Lily wants to find the killer and finally cut off the train of gossip that is running wild.

While drinking plenty of coffee from their own shop and downing large amounts of hazelnut and mocha java, Lily and her two aunts are on the case. Can they get to the person responsible before they themselves know they are going to be caught? Has the culprit already made a choice to flee the scene?
