Craig Halloran is an American author that writes fantasy fiction. Halloran is known for the Darkslayer series of novels. Even though he had a bit of a late start, it hasn’t taken the author long to generate a strong following.

+Biography
Craig Halloran’s writing habit was inspired by the many hours he spent reading novels, perusing comic books and playing Dungeons and Dragons. These inspirations are easy enough to spot in the novels that the author has since produced.

Before making a name in publishing, Craig Halloran was a military man. A native of Charleston in West Virginia where he chose to set up roots with his kids and their cats and dogs, the author attended West Virginia University.

He eventually made his way into the United States Airforce, though the urge to write never left him. Writing came into the picture at the perfect time. With his career as a military policeman firmly behind him, Halloran found that he had boundless creative energy bubbling away within him.

And he found that no other activity gave him the peace and contentment he so desired quite like writing. So the author put his mind to doing just that, proceeding to churn out several dozen novels over a relatively short period of time.

Halloran’s fans eventually came to appreciate him for his epic fantasy and apocalyptic stories. They commended him for refusing to fall back on popular fantasy fiction tropes, with Halloran instead creating his own unique worlds and concepts that gave what should be have been standard fantasy fiction stories a much-needed boost in energy.

Halloran isn’t the biggest fantasy fiction author in the world, and that isn’t an objective that he has necessarily set himself up to achieve. Rather, the author simply enjoys writing his stories and hearing back from the fans who read them.

Halloran’s following might be on the small side when compared to some of the giants in the field but the author’s fans are loyal.

+Literary Career
Craig Halloran’s journey to publishing success began in the most unexpected way. The author had been reading fantasy for a very long time. Some of his earliest childhood memories involve the hours he spent obsessing over ‘The Sword of Shannara’ which a friend had given him.

The book blew Halloran’s teenage mind and immediately transformed him into a diehard fan of fantasy fiction. Craig also loved the Conan comics and even the Conan books by Robert E. Howard.

The man that Craig Halloran eventually became was forged during those early days as the author got immersed in various forms of entertainment each of which built the foundation of the same imagination that he would eventually use to build his extensive bibliography.

Robert E Howard, in particular, had a lasting impact on Halloran. He also read R.A. Salvatore. But the writer whose works most drastically influenced Halloran novels like ‘The Darkslayer’ was Howard.

And yet, even with all the books he read, and the comics he consumed and the D&D games he played, Craig Halloran was not immediately compelled to pursue a career in publishing

For the longest time, the author was merely content to read his stories. But then he acquired email access so many years later and he began to write, not novels or even stories but articles.

Halloran would produce reviews for movies and television shows. He would also write articles on toys and even fast food. And all this content the author would email to his friends and family.

The author’s audience had nothing but good things to say about his content. Halloran’s articles were not only short but they always made his readers laugh. And the encouraging feedback he got from them pushed him to make the leap from reviews to short stories.

Eventually, full-length novels came into the picture. Craig Halloran is very particular about the books he writes. His stories are designed to entertain his readers. Halloran always writes with the readers in mind.

Halloran knows how easy it can be for an author to write a story that entertains them but which fails to touch the reader in any way that matters. So Halloran works very hard to empathize with his readers, to figure out what they want and to deliver just that in his novels.

The author starts each new writing project determined to ensure that he makes every single page count. Halloran hates wasting his readers’ time. For that reason, his novels are always so fast-paced.

He also works hard to keep the dialog fresh, snappy, and engaging. This is on top of creating believable characters, adding humor to his scenes and gifting his readers with all the twists and turns they might desire.

+Wrath of the Royals
Good and Evil have co-existed in a delicate balance on the world of Bish for quite some time. But that balance is on the verge of shifting. The underlings have begun to muster their full force in order to control and eventually destroy the mystical Darkslayer.

But life on Bish has never been easy to begin with. Humankind has struggled to survive a difficult existence filled with a wide array of dangerous creatures ranging from Orcs to Ogres. The underlings, the evilest of them all, are the latest threat to make their presence known.

Venir is a warrior. His friend Melegal is a thief. Together, the con artists are raising hell in the City of Bone when they ran afoul of a Royal household. Venir’s actions draw the ire of all the wrong people.

And in his recklessness and confidence, he does not immediately understand the dire repercussions that are about to rain upon his person.

+Smoke Rising
John Smoke was a decorated veteran whose spirited arrest methods got him imprisoned. The ex-con, who just wants to serve his time in peace, is the last person Agent Sidney Shaw wants to contend with.

The FBI’s finest and a highly calculating mind, Shaw is forced to engage Smoke when she becomes his handler and he throws her life into disarray. The pair just can’t get along. Shaw cannot help but play by the rules and yet Smoke is only ruled by his instincts.

Together, they must face off against the criminal network surfacing in Washington, D.C.

I have read Clash of Heroes Special and a couple of others that were available free on my Kobo ereader and loved them. I would love to buy The Dragonslayer Omnibus but it seems it is only available on Amazon and I don’t have a Kindle.
Do you have any idea if they would ever be available for Kobo?

Unfortunately not sure. You could try contacting the author directly and see if there is a way to get it. Only other way would be to use the Amazon app on a mobile device.

I just started reading Dragon Wars and cannot find a map of Gapoli ANYWHERE! I need to print out a bigger version than is on my Kindle, so I can actually read it and follow along with the adventure! Please tell me where I can go to print a copy for myself!
