D. E. Haggerty is really just plain old Dena, however she believes that using her initials makes her sound like one of the cool kids.

She was born and grew up in the US however she’s spent much of her adult life abroad living in cool sounding places like The Hague, Istanbul, and Heidelberg. She’s job hopped from lawyer, military policewoman, and B&B owner. Dena jumped off the job hopping bandwagon finally when she decided to turn her addiction to reading romance novels into a career. She is all ears if somebody knows how to turn a love of wine into a job.

Dena grew up reading everything that she could get her grubby little hands on from her mother’s Harlequin romances to “Little Women” to Nancy Drew. When she wasn’t busy flipping pages in a library book, she was writing terrible poetry, writing songs that nobody should ever sing, or drafting stories that have since been destroyed. College and time in the US Army came along, which robbed her of the free time to read and write, even though on the odd occasion that she did manage to sneak a book into her rucksack between MRIs, rolled up socks, cold weather gear, and t shirts.

After she survived the army experience, she returned to school and got her law degree. She jumped ship and joined her husband in the Netherlands just before the graduation ceremony could begin. Just a few years into her legal career, she got exhausted, fed up, and just plain finished. She quit her job and sat down to pen a manuscript, which she immediately hid in her attic after going back to the law. However being a lawyer was not really her thing, so she quit again and headed off to Germany in order to start a B&B. Turns out that owning a B&B wasn’t her thing either.

She polished off that manuscript that was languishing in her attic before she followed her husband to Istanbul where she decided it was time to give the writer thing a go. However ten years was too long to spend away from her adopted home. She packed up yet again and moved to The Hague.

“A Hero for Hailey” is the first novel in the “Love Will OUT” series and was released in 2020. Aiden claims that he has met the woman of his dreams. It’s Hailey, spoiler alert. However was she even worth a second glance during high school? No, she wasn’t. So what has changed? Nothing, apparently, since he does not remember her. Way to make a girl feel special.

No matter how hard she pushes him away, Aiden won’t go anywhere, unfortunately. He claims that he is sticking around until Hailey gives him a chance. Hailey’s mind might not be prepared to forgive him for his transgressions during high school, however her body is ready to throw him a clothing optional ‘let bygones be bygones’ party.

To top it all off her dad believes this detective is a good fit for her. Since when does her Pops butt his nose into her love life? He can just keep his thoughts to himself, because Hailey is not ready to forgive and forget so easily. However like her Pops always says Love Will OUT.

“Dutch Engineered” is the first novel in the “Love in the Lowlands” series and was released in 2021. Will Abby, romance averse as she is, make a go of a relationship after a one night stand has got unexpected consequences?

The very last thing Abby ever expected was to run into Jasper after she took a job in Holland. And she does mean ‘run into’ like smack dab into the delicious specimen of Dutch manhood. She takes just one look at him and decide that he is hers. Not hers like in forever. She doesn’t do forever. She knows better, just trust her on that. However hers for a roll in the hay? Where does she sign up for that?

But things do not go quite as she had planned. Her sexy times with Jasper conclude with some not so sexy consequences. Yikes. How will she handle a baby despite never being in a relationship before?

She is an engineer. She should really be able to skillfully arrange her way out of such a situation. However it appears as though Jasper is the one that has engineered Abby right to where he wants her. Gulp.

A romantic comedy featuring an engineering prodigy that is adamant about not having a permanent relationship with a guy even if she is carrying his child and the nerdy Dutchman that is just as determined to change her mind.

“My Forever Love” is the first novel in the “Winter Falls” series and was released in 2022. Aspen might have returned to her hometown and currently down on her luck, however she knows better than to fall for Lyric again. Been there and done that already. Has the heartache to show for it, too.

When her apartment and business burn down, there is just one thing Aspen is able to do: return to Winter Falls, her hometown, with her tail tucked between her legs. She isn’t going to be there long, that’s for sure. Just as soon as the insurance company decides that she didn’t start this fire, just one accidental fire to get out of a math test does not make her an arsonist, and cuts her a check for the damages, she will leave.

The people in Winter Falls feel differently, though. They are determined Aspen rekindle her romance with Lyric Alston, her first love, and stay there forever. It’s not happening. The man ruined her heart once, she is not giving him another opportunity for that.

However when she calls him out for what he did, he’s got no clue what she’s even talking about. Did she get it wrong? Did she not see what she thought she did? Once Lyric realizes that she never abandoned him, he goes all out in order to convince her to stay in Winter Falls and give him another chance. Did he forget that she isn’t there to stay? Can her First Love turn into her Forever Love?
