D.K. Holmberg is a published American author.

The author specializes in the fantasy genre. He resides in Minnesota and has two children.

Holmberg is the creator of multiple fantasy series of novels, each with many books in them. These include the Story of the Forgotten series, The Cloud Warrior Saga, Lost Garden series, Painter Mage series, the Sighted Assassin series, the Dark Ability series, the Endless War series, and more.

He is a prolific writer and always has a few projects going. If he has writer’s block on one he moves on to work on something else. He says that the best thing to do with writing is to get into a habit and commit to writing every single day. Sitting down to write daily can make it easy to keep with it, but stopping writing can make it easier to come up with excuses not to write.

Some of the series that Holmberg has written actually share worlds. While they are set in the same world, each series can be enjoyed on its own. The Teralin Sword is technically before The Lost Prophecy. Meanwhile, the Cloud Warrior series and the Endless War share the same world, but the War series is placed thousands of years back before the Cloud Warrior begins. His series The Sighted Assassin, Shadow Accords, and The Dark Ability all are in the same world and share characters but can be enjoyed separately.

D.K. Holmberg is the creator and the author of the Cloud Warrior Saga series. This fictional fantasy series started in 2014 with the publication of the debut novel, Chased by Fire. It was followed by the second book in the series, Bound by Fire. Changed by Fire came out in 2015 and there were several more that followed. The eleventh book in the series is titled Cycle of Fire and was published in 2017. Fans of fantasy can check this series out and keep reading for hours!

In this novel, readers get introduced to the main character of Tan and the unique world that he lives in. There’s a lot happening at the moment. There’s an old and ancient artifact that absolutely must be tracked down and reclaimed. There are creatures coming from Incendin, a place dangerous and dark that is spawning these scary creatures. Then there are the elementals, which have long since been forgotten but are starting to be set upon the world once more.

When it comes to Tan, he has skills and talents that make him a valuable asset. He is good at tracking and he is an earth senser. But while he may have all these skills, he’s also doing something practical, if not tedious, with his time. Cleaning out the stables has to be done, even if he isn’t thrilled about it. So when he gets a new task assigned to him, it should be a great change of pace.

His skills as an earth senser means that he’s the perfect candidate for a mission involving the most important servant to the king. The journey will involve helping to lead the servant as his guide through the mountain passes that go around the village. The mountain passes are known for being dangerous, and Tan thinks that while there may be prestige in filling out a mission for the king, it’s also something that is most likely going to get him killed in the process.

The goal is to go with the servant to try and track down the artifact. If they can get to it before the Incendin creatures do, it will be a huge advantage. Tan accepts the task but once he starts out, he is about to discover that this journey may be even more taxing than dying would be. The creatures are already making their way out of Incendin. The place was once contained, locked up and away thanks to shaper magic. But now they’re coming back, and in the process, they’re going to create a lot of destruction unless they can be contained.

Tan is already jaded because his father passed away due to a war and he initially turned down the demands of the king. Things change, and once Tan realizes that it’s for the good of everyone that he gets to the ancient artifact with the servant of the king, he commits to the cause. This object may just be the one thing that can stop these evil creatures and the power of Incendin for good.

It turns out that others have lost things too, just as much as he has. This is something that he finds out when he meets a beautiful young woman named Amia. She’s a wanderer by nature and has lost a lot. She also might be the one individual that is capable of tracking down the artifact, and Tan might end up putting himself on the line to try and save her.

This one act may inadvertently wake up a power that has been absent from the world for almost a thousand years. Tan and Amia never saw this coming, but it’s here. A warrior that everyone thought to be gone comes back and wants the artifact. Will he claim it for himself? Or will Tan and Amia be able to stop him and take the artifact back to fight the monsters? Bound by Fire is the exciting second installment of the Cloud Warrior Saga. When the fire creatures known as draasin come back, not everyone thinks they should’ve been let go.

Tan is working to master earth shaping, and in the process finds out that fire shapers have come from Incendin. When Elthea is attacked by the fire creatures, he must figure out why using his connection to them.

As he goes out and faces the Incendin shapers, he needs the draasin to help him. The Incendin have taken the artifact to use for themselves, and failure to win may mean the destruction of all. What will happen? Read Bound by Fire to find out!

   Nicely done on the Holmberg books… showing the order of the series of series in addition to the series of books! I knew those book series were grouped by universe, and had no idea how I was going to sort that. I should have known that you would already have figured that out…

   I have read the Dark Ability Series, Shadow Accords and the sighted Assassin and absolutely loved these series. I am so pleased to find a good author that writes captivating stories that I can’t put down. I just checked out the book list to see what next and I am so excited to see how many more series by Holberg I still have to read. I also love how the characters link up with other series.
