Writing paranormal and fantasy novels the American novelist D.R. Perry is well known for creating compelling stories with equally engaging characters, all whist using her now trademark sense-of-humor, giving her work a certain degree of authenticity and realism it may otherwise not have had. This has lead to a highly successful collection of novels that have enjoyed success on a worldwide scale of unprecedented proportions. Known for writing in a manner which is both direct and to the point, she draws her readers in through her almost intimate style, whilst allowing them to also gain a sense of scale for the imaginative and immersive worlds that she has created. Producing a number of series, she has created some interesting franchises, such as the ‘Providence Paranormal College’ line of books. Knowing and understanding her audience clearly, she has been able to establish her own unique and distinctive style, one that draws from a whole range of different influences, whilst simultaneously remaining true to herself. No stranger to the art of poetry either, her prose flows in a highly evocative style, guiding the reader with her entertaining and almost ethereal ambiances and atmospheres that she creates. With a lot more to come in the near future, she doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon either, as her writing career grows from strength-to-strength.

Early and Personal Life

Growing up in America, the writer to be D.R. Perry would always harbor a strong passion for the written word, showing a great affinity for both reading and writing. Continuing this passion throughout her education, she would carry on building upon her style, refining and honing, constantly looking for new ideas. Showing a fun sense-of-humor within her work, she would become highly accustomed to writing genre based novels and fiction. Currently living in New England, she still writes full-time after falling in love with the area, as it would come to inspire much of her work. Living with her husband and daughter, along with their dog, she will carry on writing for some time to come whilst in the Ocean State, with a lot more books planned on the horizon.

Writing Career

Largely focusing herself on her ‘Providence and Paranormal College’ collection of books, she would set her most popular franchise in the fictional college with it vast array of colorful characters. Gaining awards and acclaim for her work, she would receive nominations such as the ‘Alternate History in Dragon Awards’, leading to her becoming a highly prominent figure within the industry. As her audience grows steadily day-by-day, she has a lot of room to continue growing, leaving behind a legacy which really will stand the test of time.

Of Wolf and Peace

Originally brought out in 2016 on the 22nd of May, this particular title was released by none other than D.R. Perry herself, with it being the third book in the series. Following on from the previous two, this progresses the ‘Providence Paranormal College’ collection of books, taking it forwards in new directions. Giving the audience more of what they’ve now come to expect from the series overall, it really manages to deliver, whilst also providing plenty of exciting twists and turns along the way.

Whilst this is one of the later books in the series, it manages to bring in a set of new themes and ideas for Perry to incorporate into the arc, whilst simultaneously remaining true to that of the original’s premise. Following the character of Josh Dennison and his ill fated affair, it manages to develop the many characters within the series too. Further building upon the world as well, it really brings the magical kingdoms to life once again, developing the landscaping even further than before.

With the threat of ending up just like his brother, Josh Dennison hopes not to tempt the hands of fate, although this may prove to be harder than initially expected after he begins to fall for the one person that he shouldn’t. Setting his eyes on a Kelpie who happens to draw her magic from the Goblin King’s Court, something which could possibly threaten the neutrality of the wolves after their pledge all those years ago. Once the Goblin King and the Sidhe Queen split up, things have been on tenterhooks ever since, something which could all unravel very soon. Will they be able to keep the peace? Can they protect the kingdom? What will become of wolf and peace?

Ghost of a Chance

This was first released in 2017 on the 30th of January not long after the previous titles, with these books being published within quick succession of one another, First brought out through the ‘Pronoun’ publishing label, this would provide a great murder mystery, making another perfect edition to the ‘Providence Paranormal College’ franchise. Continuing as the eighth title in the series, it carries on in much the same vein as before, allowing the series to really come alive for the now loyal following of readers worldwide.

Working as a paranormal mystery this time, this ostensibly follows a buddy pairing, as they contend with the supernatural world with good humor and grace. This particular team of Bianca Brighton and Horace Lancaster works well, as they play off each other well, allowing the dialogue to be both witty and engaging. Further establishing the world of the series as well, it really adds another slant to the series, giving it even greater breadth and scope than ever before.

Making sure that Bianca Brighton comes to no harm, the ghost of Horace Lancaster watches over the spirit medium, as they work together as partners. With Professor Watkins having witnessed a most heinous crime it’s imperative that he testify to what he saw, but there’s only one problem; he’s comatose and his spirit has been magically prevented from returning to his body. The Gatto Gangsters are looking to walk free and a most powerful magus is helping them, something which Bianca and Horace must put a stop to if they ever hope to see true justice served. Can they both save the day? Who committed the heinous crime? Do they have a ghost of a chance?
