Dan Ames (aka Dani Amore) is a bestselling American author that writes crime fiction. Ames is known for books like The Jack Reacher cases and the Mary Cooper Mystery series.
+Biography
You can normally identify a Dan Ames novel within the first few chapters. The author has a penchant for action, explosions, and sarcastic heroes.
Dan Ames has been writing crime fiction since the early 2010s. It did not take the author long to establish himself in the genre, going on to win the Independent Book Award for Crime Fiction.
Dan Ames was in the seventh grade when he realized that he wanted to become a published author in the future. He read a lot at the time, and it wasn’t so surprising that he eventually turned his attention towards writing.
He proceeded to write a western that most people would have recognized as a poor imitation of Louis L’Armour. Even at that age, Ames knew that his writing abilities were sorely lacking.
However, he wasn’t particularly demoralized. If anything, Ames felt a compulsion to keep writing until he could produce fiction of a quality comparable to that of his literary heroes.
As is often the case, though, life seemed determined to steer him far from his writing dreams. And as with most authors, Ames finished school, got a job and quickly found that he had neither the time nor the energy to pursue a publishing career.
Ames never stopped writing, not truly, and he believes that the time he injected into the activity during the years he spent pursuing his day job allowed him to become the celebrated author that so many people eventually came to know.
But it definitely took him far longer than he would have liked to turn his attention back to his writing. That isn’t to say that Dan Ames was miserable. It was more like his life was passionless.
His day job allowed him to survive financially but it did not excite him, not in the way that writing did. The author’s turning point came when he turned thirty, peered into the future at the road that his present career would take him and then realized that he did not care enough about his day job to sink his life into it.
The conclusion was a life-changing occurrence for Dan Ames because it gave him the clarity he needed to realize that he wouldn’t be truly content until he pursued his dream of becoming a published author.
So that is what the author proceeded to do. Ames still remembers the day he sold his first book because he had a beer in Las Vegas. He cannot remember what compelled him to do so. He was alone at the time and there wasn’t even a dancing girl nearby.
Ames just sat by himself, enjoyed his beer and ruminated on the achievement he had added to his resume.
Most of the author’s writing is done in his spare bedroom over his garage. The room acts as his workspace and it is actually empty except for a desk and a chair. Ames’ writing process normally requires him to stand up and pace every so often.
He will also spend significant amounts of time staring out the window. Ames needs ample space to indulge in all this activity and more while he writes. Even though the author’s novels are fictional in nature, he does a fair amount of research.
Do not expect him to include copious amounts of minute detail in his stories, though. Dan Ames only does enough research to make it seem like he knows what he is talking about. There are a lot of psychological aspects to his books primarily because Ames loves psychology and spends a lot of time reading psychology books, especially for research purposes.
For all the time he spends making preparations for the novels he intends to write, Ames’ writing style has a lot of brevity to it. This can be imputed to the fact that the author designs his stories to be as fast-paced as possible.
In fact, that is the primary attribute of the average Dan Ames novel. Once his stories start, they never stop. Readers are normally given little room to breathe because so many events keep happening one after another.
And that breakneck speed, the action-packed adventures that play out and the over-the-top protagonists are the reasons people read Dan Ames books. The author will be the first to tell you that it takes him considerable effort to produce the breakneck speed that his readers enjoy in a manner that doesn’t sacrifice the characters.
Ames is always working hard to find ways to flesh his characters out, to make them feel real and engaging without causing his story to lag. It is the sort of balancing act that he never stops working at.
Even though he is best known for his novels, the author has been known to experiment with screenplays. He normally writes them in between novels. The change of pace acts as a palette cleanser for him.
Dan Ames is very open. He frequently engages with his fans on social media and via email. He says that he answers every single email from a fan that he gets.
+A Hard Man to Forget
Lauren Pauling is a former FBI agent working as a private investigator in New York. Pauling met Jack Reacher on a previous case. Her life takes an interesting turn when she receives and calls a phone number attached to a letter with Jack Reacher’s name on it.
The woman on the other end of the line has a missing husband. But she has no idea who Pauling is. She claims that she did not contact her. When the men who took her husband turn their attention on the woman, Pauling leaps into action.
+A Man Made for Killing
Jack Reacher needs no one, or so Lauren Pauling thought. She was hesitant to accept the request of a billionaire to be flown to at a remote island owned by the military. But then she learned that the billionaire had invited her only because Jack Reacher requested her assistance.
Stunned by the revelation, Pauling jumps on the first plane to the hideaway, anxious to join forces with Jack Reacher.
