Dana Marton Best Books
Reluctant Concubine
The Reluctant Concubine is a terrific epic fantasy and the first installment in the Hardstorm book series. In the Reluctant Concubine, author Dana Marton introduces the readers to Tera. Tera is a maiden healer, who is sold into slavery. Due to the fact that she is yet to fully develop her healing powers, she is more than determined to ensure that she conceals her unique skills from the barbarians. Despite the fact that she was born in an extremely gentle world, Tera finds herself in a world, where she not only struggles to survive but also she has to battle against savage warlords and their extremely cruel concubines. It does not take long before several ancients prophesies is fulfilled. Will Tera be able to awaken the heart of the high-lord and save the realm from damnation?

Despite the fact that the novel has been written in a more traditional sense to befit the book’s genre, Dana’s style is extremely fluid. Furthermore, the style of writing is descriptive without necessarily being overbearing. The world building has also been brilliantly done while the world fantasy is more than enough to send the readers scurrying to the shadows. Everything about the world that Dana Marton had created was believable and captivating for all of its fascinating detail and crudeness. The Reluctant Concubine’s plot was well thought-out and was filled with numerous arcs in the protagonist’s journey. The plot was not rushed and in the process offered a much greater credibility to Tera’s development. Irrespective of the fact that Tera is barely a woman, she is a sympathetic and a fully formed character right from the very start.

Hailing from a passive community, Tera is thrown to a foreign culture against her will. Many of the situations that Tera eventually found herself in were filled with violence, intense cruelty, and political maneuvering. Tera’s naivety persists at a great cost to Tera and those individuals around her, in the process bringing about inevitable and steady growth in her self-perception and growth. Author Dana Marton explores complex identity issues. One of the complex issues that Dana Marton explores include the incompatibility of war and innocence; the necessity of survival and sacrifice. To achieve this, author Dana Marton had to mute the romantic angle and allowed it to develop in a more natural and non-formulaic manner. A majority of plot-centric readers are going to find this quite revitalizing. The prose is skillful and pleasant.

Accidental Sorceress
Accidental Sorceress is the second installment in the Hardstorm Saga series. As the second installment in the Hardstorm book series, Accidental Sorceress picks up where Reluctant Concubine had left off from. Apart from having outstanding spins and twists, Accidental Sorceress features extremely strong, caring and loving characters. In Accidental Sorceress, we meet with Tera once again, a traditional healer who is more than determined to assist and heal her people. Before Tera reaches her destination, she has to give up many things. Because Tera is still learning about her skills, the road ahead is extremely rocky. Despite going through a lot, Tera remains a strong, loving and caring person with the ability to touch souls any place she goes. Before the end of her journey, Tera is going to be tried and tested.

In Accidental Sorceress, Tera’s journey as the healer of the Shalala continues. Tera embarks on her journey with the high lord, Batumar. Tera and Batumar cross a treacherous mountain and eventually manage to get to a sea. The two eventually cross through the hard storms on a sea that is uncrossable. Batumar and Tera are more than determined to gather supports from accords the border so that they can fight a wicked leader and his colossal army that is threatening the entire world. Author Dana Marton has managed once again to paint vivid scenes of death and life in this highly entertaining novel. In more ways than one, Accidental Sorceress is Tera’s story of finding herself and her journey to become the prophesied hero. Author Dana Marton masterfully shows how the various events in the narrative affect and even change the characters without being coy or feeling angsty about it.

The emotions in the novel are extremely nuanced and in the process making Tera a person. Due to the fact that Accidental Sorceress is mainly about Tera’s journey, the emphasis is mainly laid on the journey and the plot as well. For a bigger part of the novel, the narrative is well paced, and a rather appropriate weight is given to the battles as well as the effects of war. As Tera ventures further into this fantasy world that Dana Marton has created, the readers get a chance to see Marton’s world-building.

Deathwatch
In Deathwatch, author Dana Marton introduces the readers to Kate. Deathwatch begins as Kate is watching a funeral that is supposed to be hers. When she was young, Kate was the only witness to the killing of her friend and in turn, meant that she was the only person who could easily identify the killer. However, the person who killed her friend knows that Kate was present during the incidence. Kate believes that by watching her funeral is only going to be the only way to catch the killer. Because the killer is not any criminal, he is on FBI’s most wanted list. After the failure of Kate’s plan, she has no choice but to go into hiding. Kate does not believe that the FBI will be efficient in putting the criminal behind bars and also they will not offer her sufficient protection, she decides to take the matter into her own hands.

While hiding, Kate finds herself inside Murphy Dolan’s house, a soldier and a cop. Dolan and Kate come up with a plan of pinning down the killer. With that said, Deathwatch is going to grab the reader’s attention from the first page to the last. Readers are definitely going to fall with the main characters, Murphy Dolan and Kate Bridges.
