The Wild One
The wild one is the first book in the De Montforte series. The second-born son of the De Montforte, Charles goes to the colonies to fight for the British crown. While on war, he meets his soul mate, and before marrying her, he gets killed in the war leaving Juliet page unmarried and pregnant.

From that point, the story focuses on Juliet Paige on her journey to visit the family members of his late fiancé, Charles de Monteforte. With her infant and iron reserve, she crosses the ocean to seek help from Charles’s family. She has just come from war-torn Boston with her 6-months old daughter, Charlotte, as the only fruit of her relationship with Charles. It’s now a year since passed since his death.

Her stagecoach is attacked by highwaymen just a short distance from the de Monteforte home. Just before Juliet is hurt, a rider appears and takes the criminals down. The rider happens to be Gareth de Monteforte comes in time to rescue her with the other travelers and unfortunately gets injured in the process.

Upon survival, Juliet helps in saving the handsome rider’s life. Many minutes do not pass before the two realize each other’s others identity. Finding out that her hero is one of the Charles brothers sends a tingling on her spine. She’s ready to do anything for him as an appreciation for saving her. Gareth is named The Wild One because of his cavorting methods, and the title is well deserved. He, together with his friends, are known as the Den of Debauchery.
Juliet requests a meeting with Lucien, the eldest son in the De Montforte family. She hopes he can be Charlotte’s guardian, but the encounter leaves a lot of unanswered questions since he doesn’t decide whether he’ll be a guardian for his niece.

Lucien appreciates Juliet’s efforts in saving Gareth’s life, but he’s still angered by how Gareth has been wasting his life and being a spendthrift and family’s Blacksheep.

Juliet and her daughter stay at the estate as Gareth recovers. The duke has warned his brother against having any attachment to Juliet, but eventually, their feelings find their way, causing mischief.

Upon recovery, Gareth wakes up to find that Juliet and Charlotte have left and are on their way back to board a ship to return to Boston. He blames the duke and his brother and decides to go after them hoping to convince Juliet to marry him.

Gareth is hard to dislike because of his big heart and kind soul, even though he sometimes makes mistakes. Coming to Julie’s rescue was a big turning point for him, and he felt good knowing he was doing the right thing.

Despite his elder brother’s exploitation, Gareth is focused on doing things right by marrying Juliet to give Charlotte, his niece, a father figure. Even though his intentions are pure, he got no idea of how to do it. On the other side, Juliet tries putting his love for late Charles aside and accepts Gareth as her new husband.
Gareth’s whole life has lived being compared to Charles, and it’s difficult for Juliet not to do the same. The two embark on a journey to bond that is directly connected to his effort to grow up to become a responsible father who can take good care of his newly found family.

By the time Juliet and Gareth reach the pivotal point, you will have gone to hell and back with them as a reader. Gareth’s charming nature and Juliet’s grit and determination make the story more fascinating. The twists and turns in the books make the story unpredictable, and the reader will keep guessing what might happen next.

The story will make you laugh, cry and smile as you flip pages feeling as if the characters are your family members. The Wild One is nicely written with a sweet historical romance, and the author takes the reader into the story and never lets her go until the last page.
Captain of my Heart

the book starts with actions where the author introduces Brendan Merrick, a handsome and charming British Irish captain who Is loved by his crew. When he realizes that one of his close subordinates is oppressing members, he stops it. Richard Crichton is a villain in every way and shoots Brendan’s sister, Eveleen, hurting her hand and later shoots Brendan.

Since no one is wiser to know what really happened, Richard informs the superiors that Brendan turned into a traitor, an excuse they buy ang gets back in his position, still playing the villain without anyone doubting him.

Apparently, America is In the middle of its Revolutionary War. Mira is an anxious patriot and likes dressing in men’s clothes, singing boisterous songs, baking inedible pies, fighting with fists, rescuing cats, and later sneaking them into the house.

Matt, Mira’s brother, is a privateer whose work is to lead men against British ships to either rob or sink them. When Brendan is brought to the shore, people assume that he is an evil British spy, but as it turns out, he is Mira’s father new client with a unique ship design that will make her father wealthy and famous.

The romance unveils at the backdrop of war, just like Richard’s revenge mission for the man he feels stole his honor and rights. Ms. Harmon describes the ships so well that Brendan’s schooner is commissioned as much of a character herself.

The details are fine, and it looks the author is aware of what she’s writing about. Richard was an amazing villain, and his obsession with taking Brendan down kept the plot moving.
