Daryl Wood Gerber is an Agatha Award winning author and the bestselling writer of The Cookbook Nook Mystery series. She is particularly famous for writing most of her novels based on the suspense, mystery, and fiction genres. The Cookbook Nook Mystery series written by her features the main character in the form of an admitted foodie, avid reader, and the owner of a cookbook store located in the coastal regions of California. Author Daryl began writing this series in the year 2013. In addition to this successful series, she also writes The Cheese Shop Mystery series under the pseudonym of Avery Aames. This series went on to become a national bestseller and is set in the fictional city of Providence, Ohio. Before beginning her career as a writer, author Daryl used to write screenplays and is popular for creating the format of the famous television show called ‘Out of this World’. She was even involved in working as an actress, co-starring in the mystery show called ‘Murder, She Wrote’ as well as a few other television shows. She originally hails from the Bay Area, but studied at the Stanford University.

Other than writing exciting mystery novels, author Daryl loves to read, swim, cook, play golf, and look after her gardening plants. She is also very fond of adventure in her life and is believed to have been involved in skydiving many times. As far as the personal life of author Daryl is concerned, she is happily married for more than 25 years and is blessed with a son who mostly lives away from her. When Daryl Wood Gerber was very, she was very much interested in Halloween parties. She had even prepared a song at the age of 3. Daryl also liked dancing in the rain near Lake Tahoe, which is also the place from where she gets the ideas about the plots of her novels. The place gives her a lot of inspiration, whenever she goes there. At the age of 7, Daryl had written a short story about giraffes. At the age of 11, author Daryl developed her interest in reading books. On one occasion, she was down with measles and used the opportunity to read all the books of the Nancy Drew series in a single stretch. Eventually, Daryl began to think about writing her own novel by the time she reached university. However, when she showed one of her written works to a teacher during her junior year at the university, she was told that her writing was terrible and she should drop the idea of becoming a writer. Therefore, she stopped writing and got married. Later, Daryl began working as a teacher.

But, when she moved to Los Angeles, she began exploring other career options and eventually got the chance of becoming an actress. Later, she was asked by her husband to give up acting because of frequent shifting of cities. In the end, Daryl decided to give one more chance to her hobby of writing mystery novels and began taking classes. She even joined the Sisters in Crime and started everything that she could, related to the genre. After studying for several years, author Daryl wrote a manuscript and submitted them to a number of literary agents. One of them helped her to get a contract from a publishing company and eventually, The Cheese Shop Mystery series was written and published by her under the pen name of Avery Aames. This opportunity helped her to become a noteworthy author of the suspense, mystery, and crime fiction genre, and since then, Daryl has not looked back. She kept on progressing in her writing career and is still contributing with excellent mystery novels.

The Cookbook Nook Mystery series written by Daryl Wood Gerber consists of a total of 5 books published between the year 2013 and 2016. All the novels of this series feature the main character in the form of Jenna Hart, who is described as a foodie, avid reader and a cookbook store owner in the fictional town of Crystal Cove, located in the coastal regions of California. The first novel of this novel was released under the title ‘Final Sentence’. It was published by the Berkeley publishing house in the year 2013. The plot of this novel revolves around the happenings in the lives of the main characters named Jenna Hart and Desiree Divine. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, it is shown that Jenna art leaves the world of advertising for bringing a change in her life and goes on to help her aunt named Vera to open a bookshop and cafe. As a result, Jenna gets a chance to get back to her family in the town of Crystal Cove and seems to make a fresh start in her life. But, a murder case brings obstacles in her life once again. With the intention of drawing a huge crowd for the grand opening of the Cookbook Nook shop, Jenna decides to invite her old friend and college roommate named Desiree Divine, who has now become a celebrity chef. But, when she arrives at Crystal Cove, she is found dead, causing more trouble in the life of Jenna Hart. The police finds out that Desiree was notorious for stealing the husbands of other women and includes Jenna too in the list of suspects. Now, she is required to carry out the investigation in her own way in order to clear her name of the murder case. Also, Jenna is required to act fast so that she can catch the killer before he takes the life of another victim.

The second novel of The Cookbook Nook Mystery series written by author Daryl Wood Gerber was published under the title ‘Inherit the Word’. It was released by the Berkley publishing house in the year 2014. The plot of this novel continues to feature the main character in the form of Jenna Hart. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, it is shown that the bookstore of Jenna is about to host the upcoming Grill Fest of the Crystal Cove town. The festival is famous for allowing the amateur chefs to enter into a competition and bring out the most delicious dish so as to emerge victorious. As the competition for making grilled cheese dishes starts, it is learned that the participants from the past years hold grudges against each other. Soon, the 8 time champion of the Grill Fest is found dead behind Jenna’s cafe. He is believed to have been murdered by someone. Jenna Hart learns that her aunt is arrested as the prime suspect in the murder of the champion chef. She knows that her aunt has been framed for the someone else’s crime and decides to investigate the lives of each and every guest of the Fest. This way, Jenna believes that she will be able to get closer to the real murderer and stop him from taking the life of another victim. Jenna also intends to save her aunt from getting convicted of the crime that she has not committed, and thereby bringing back the reputation of her cafe and bookstore.
