Dave Stanton is a best selling crime fiction author fromSan Jose, California best known as the writer of the “Dan Reno” series of novels.

The author was born in 1960 Detroit, Michigan and in 1961 he moved to Northern California. In 1983, he graduated from San Jose University with a bachelors in journalism.

He then went on to work as a technology salesman, bartender, debt collector, and newspaper advertising salesman.

He currently makes his home in San Jose, California where he lives with Heidi his wife and Haley and Austin their two children.

Stanton got started writing in 2001 just as the dot.com bubble burst. It was terrible timing as he had previously quit a lucrative job to go work for a startup, since he had been offered significantly more money.

Working as a salesman, it was not long before he discovered that he had been hired to sell a doomed product. Even though his employers were some smart and wealthy people, he almost immediately knew he was going nowhere with the company.

Sitting in his cubicle in Silicon Valley, he regretted having quit his job as he was certain that it was not long before he would be unemployed. Most of the leads that he had been given had listened to his pitch, but had ultimately declined the product.

Bored and with nothing to do, he spontaneously started writing.

Three months later, Dave Stanton found himself working a new job which involved a lot of traveling to Asia. As he traveled to Asia jetting over the Pacific, he used to hunch over his notebook typing away like mad.

The paragraph he penned while employed for that startup in Silicon Valley soon turned into a manuscript for a novel.

“Stateline,” his debut novel, was first published in 2013 and he has never looked back since. He now has more than eight titles to his name and has shown no sign of slowing down.

Stanton usually writes about the situations and characters that are inspired from the time his companions were reckless and irreverent.
It was a time when he willingly participated in some deplorable actions in Salt Lake City, Reno and Sacramento that would have some undesirable long term consequences.

Dave Stanton’s novel “Stateline” opens to the murder of a tycoon’s son right on the eve of his wedding. Full of grief, his father hires Dan Reno for a life changing sum and asks him to track down and apprehend the killer.

Nearly broke, Reno jumps at the chance but it turns out to be a dangerous assignment as a band of crooked police officers are involved. Just who could be responsible for the killing and how does he go about finding police officers he can trust.

He is haunted by a violent past and his murdered father and more blood on his hands is something he does not desire. However, he still has to make a living and is not one to backoff from a challenge.

Traversing the lonely deserts of Nevada and the wintry snows of the Sierras, he is forced to go back to his old ways just to ensure his own survival. He needs to survive as the money offered would do him no good if he gets killed.

“Dying for the High Life” by Dave Stanton is the story of Jimmy Homestead. He was once upon a time a high school stud, but now has been reduced to discount whisky, petty crime and temporary jobs.

But things change when he is declared the winner of a 43 million jackpot. Flush with money, he could not be happier until the people from his past come back to haunt him. They want retribution for transgressions he had forgotten about for years.

In the middle of all this is Cody Gibbons his friend and Dan Reno the private detective. Reno is a broke guy who only desires to save his home from foreclosure but is forced to reevaluate his priorities when Jimmy and Gibbons are taken by cartel thugs.

Fighting to save his friend, he finds himself embroiled in a case and it is not long before the bodies begin to pile up.

Dave Stanton’s novel “Speed Metal Blues” finds Dan Reno as prey when he takes a job against a New Jersey based gang in Lake Tahoe. He easily captures the first thug but the second one who is believed to be a satanist irresponsible for several murders could not be harder.

The target goes missing soon after he escapes the clutches of Reno but has made it clear that he will be settling scores. To further complicate things, it seems the target is interested in a teenage girl and his talented brother that happen to be Reno’s friends.

Muddling through a deadly feud between mobsters who run a local casino and a nasty drug dealing turf war, Reno finds himself hunting a ghost-like adversary that controls his every move.

The more he learns about the man, the more he realizes that chaos is inevitable if he cannot capture the man quickly.
