David Ellis is one of the award winning authors and a popular lawyer from The United States. He has written a total of 12 books in his writing career so far, all of which are based on the thriller, mystery, and suspense genres. Author Ellis is particularly well known for writing the Jason Kolarich series of mystery books. As an established author, he has received the Edgar Award in the category of the Best Debut Novel. Following this, has gone on to write several other award winning novels in his career. In the year 2009, author Ellis introduced the character of Jason Kolarich for the first time in his book titled The Hidden Man. This book had received a nomination for the Los Angeles Times Book Award as well as for the Barry Award. In his second book featuring Jason Kolarich, author Ellis set the plot based on a scandal that involved the impeached governor named Rod Blagojevich. This book was released in the form of a paperback edition recently. Ellis’ next book of the mystery series was nominated for the prestigious Silver Dagger in the category of an outstanding thriller. For writing his novel titled Guilty Wives, author Ellis collaborated with the bestselling author named James Patterson for the first time. This book went on to become a huge success and spent a period of 2 months on the bestseller list of New York Times.

In 2013, collaborated with James Patterson for the second time for writing the novel called Mistress. This novel features the lead character in the role of a paranoia tortured man named Benjamin Casper. He scrolls his mind continuously through the references of pop culture. Benjamin has obsession over a lady who dies after falling from the balcony of a 60 storey building. Benjamin begins his hunt for the killer and gets drawn into a deep international espionage involving some dark secrets of the military. The novels written by author Ellis have been sold all over the world and have also been translated into various foreign languages like Japanese, Polish, Italian, Bulgarian, German, Spanish, French, Czech, Chinese, and Dutch. As an attorney, Ellis was involved in prosecuting and convicting Governor Blagojevich in an impeachment trial. In 2014, Ellis became the youngest justice to serve at the Appellate College of Illinois. Author Ellis was born in the year 1967. He studied at the Northwestern Law School, and immediately after his graduation he started his private practice in 1993 in Chicago. Currently, he is serving as a Special Counsel in Illinois. Author Ellis is happily married and lives with beautiful wife and 3 children on the outskirts of Chicago. The popular fictional character created by author Ellis is named as Jason Kolarich. He is seen in the legal thriller books that author Ellis writes. Ellis has described Jason as a lawyer, who lives just outside of Chicago. He possesses a razor sharp intellect and a lineman’s build. Over the course of the Jason Kolarich series, the readers see him grow as an attorney, while fighting the various odds to win the cases for his clients. Jason Kolarich works very hard to serve the justice and does not mind taking up the role of a sleuth to unravel the mysteries and find out the truth.

In all, there are 4 books published in the Jason Kolarich series written by David Ellis, which were released between the years 2009 and 2013. The debut novel of the series is entitled ‘The Hidden Man’. It was released by Putnam Adult in 2009. Author Ellis has depicted the primary characters in this story as Jason Kolarich, Audrey Cutler, Griffin Perlini, Sammy, and Mr. Smith. At the start of the story, Jason Kolarich is introduced as a midwestern lawyer, who has remarks as an easy smart ass. Jason is intelligent, a young maverick. However, he seems to be suffering due to an emotional burden. He feels threatened that this burden would unravel his personal life as well as of all those who are around him. Around 27 years ago, two years old Audrey Cutler had gone missing from her home during one night. In spite of searching everywhere, she was not found. The only thing that the detectives could depend on, was the vague account of an eyewitness who saw a man going through the street carrying someone. There was no solid proof to establish the fact that Audrey Cutler was kidnapped. But still, a neighbor named Griffin Pelini, who had prior offense charges on him against minors, was arrested for kidnapping Audrey. However, he was never convicted. The continues for long and finally comes at the stage of closing when someone murders Griffin Perlini around 30 years later. And after so many years, a man named Mr. Smith arrives in the office of Jason Kolarich. He says that he is representing a 3rd party and wants him to get the man off the hook who is arrested for Perlini’s murder. Mr. Smith also tells Jason that he is chosen because the actual client things that he is best suited for the this job. A new client approaches Jason Kolarich in the form of the older brother of Audrey Cutler, named Sammy. He is also the estranged friend of Jason from his childhood, whom he has not seen in the last 20 years or so. Soon, Jason starts getting death threats from the enigmatic employer of Mr. Smith. He thinks that the key to win the case and find out the secret behind the nameless employer is related to the mystery of the disappearance of Audrey. As both his and Sammy’s lives are put on line, Jason is required to think less about the mounting anxiety and his heart aching personal tragedy so as to search for the answers related to Audrey’s disappearance long ago.

Another exciting book published in the series is known as ‘Breach of Trust’. It was released in 2011 by the GP Putnam publication. The book begins by showing that Jason Kolarich struggles to get over he deaths of his daughter and wife. The night they died, Jason was waiting in his office for a call from an informant called as Ernesto Ramirez. The call did not come as the informer got murdered before he could pass information to Jason. Now, Jason blames himself for the deaths of all the three. He knows that he cannot do anything to get his family back, but he becomes determined to find the killer of Ernesto Ramirez. But, his efforts land him in a deep probe of FBI involving a governor. In order to avoid going to jail, Jason is required to enter into a world of double dealings, kickbacks, and wire traps. Soon, he discovers that Ramirez’s murder was just a small part of a bigger conspiracy. Jason thinks of exposing it and does not fear losing his life in doing so.
