David Pearson is a renowned Irish author of mystery, thriller, crime fiction, and suspense novels. He is particularly famous for writing the bestselling Galway Homicide series, featuring the main protagonists named Maureen Lyons and Michael Hays. The series is also known as the Hays and Lyons series based on its two main characters. Pearson’s books are set in the beautiful landscape of west Ireland’s Connemara region. He loves the area very much and always visits the region to gain inspiration to develop a storyline or an intriguing plot for his latest book. In addition to being a prominent author, Pearson is also a keen photographer. He loves capturing pictures of the rugged Connemara landscapes in all kinds of weather. Pearson’s fictional novel series set in the beautiful town of Galway in Ireland brings a lot of exciting stories to the audience as the lead characters wrestle to bring down the crime rate in the town.

Each of the books of his bestselling series has appeared on the number one spot on Amazon UK’s bestselling list. Author Pearson was born in Dublin, Ireland and currently resides on the east coast outside the capital. He is believed to have undergone extensive traveling throughout his career. Pearson says that he has never come across a place as mesmerizing and wonderful as Connemara. He fell in love with the place so much that he set the plots of all his novels in the area between Clifden and Roundstone and described its scenic coastline and rugged mountains. The reason behind using the beautiful landscape as the setting of his stories as given by Pearson is that readers can experience the fabulous landscape for themselves. Author Pearson claims that he has always been an avid reader of mystery and crime fiction stories.

The authors who have influenced his work the most include Ann Cleeves, Colin Dexter, and Ian Rankin. He admires most of the works of these authors, including the TV adaptation of Colin Dexter’s Morse and Lewis series and Ian Rankin’s novel series called the Rebus series. Of all the books written and published by Pearson so far, six have been made available in the form of audiobooks. And all of them are available as Kindle books on Amazon. Before deciding to become a full-time writer, Pearson was employed as a Program Manager and has retired recently. Although he had a busy career for many years, writing crime fiction stories always remained his first love and he decided to pursue it immediately after the burden of his former job came off his shoulders.

Author Pearson aims to transform his books into a TV series and is looking for a production company to accept his idea. He thinks of it as a step forward in his ambition of bringing the beautiful Irish locations into the lives of his readers. Pearson is greatly thankful for all the love and support he has received from the readers all over the world. He is also grateful for all the rave reviews given by the critics to his books. He has high hopes of continuing with the good work and entertaining his fans across the globe with more intriguing stories of crime fiction in the years to come. Pearson considers himself blessed to have found a mark in the field of his interest and wishes to keep achieving success for as long as he can.

The Hays and Lyons series written by author David Pearson is started in 2018. It features the lead characters in the roles of Michael Hays and Maureen Lyons. They are depicted as detective inspectors stationed in the town of Galway in western Ireland. The debut book of this mystery/ thriller series is entitled ‘Murder on the Old Bog Road’. It was released by The Book Folks in 2018. The book opens by showing that it is chilling cold in Ireland and the weather has turned hostile because of the rain that the Atlantic is sweeping in the town. A young lady braves this weather to see her sick mom in a remote region of the country. During her journey, discovers an obstacle and takes a halt to find out what it is. After getting rid of the stones in the path, she uncovers a woman’s body lying dead in the ditch. As there is no phone connectivity, the woman reaches out to the nearby police stations and informs what she has seen. The police does not waste time in reaching the crime scene and discover the dead body.

In order to find out whether the woman died her own death or someone murdered her, the body is sent for proper forensic examination. The police also suspect the lady traveler is hiding something from them. What follows next is a cat and mouse chase as the case takes the form of a murder investigation. The case becomes much more mysterious when it is established the victim was a sex worker. Soon after, the police come up with a long list of possible suspects. Detectives inspectors Lyons and Hays realize that the case is so intriguing and mysterious that it will take all their experience to get to its bottom and differentiate lies from truth.

The second installment of this series is known as ‘Murder at the Old Cottage’. It was also published by The Book Folks publication in 2018. This novel opens by depicting that a health-worker is on her way to visit a client at a remote location on Ireland’s West Coast when she comes across a shocking discovery. An old man is found dead while sitting in his armchair inside his cottage. The health-worker informs the local Garda and asks them to look into the case. Soon, it is found that the old man did not die a natural death. The investigators also find that the killer tortured the victim before killing him and also ransacked his house. As the forensic team is asked to establish the cause of death, the detectives set themselves on the trail of finding the motive. They are surprised to find that nothing was missing from the old man’s house. Also, the forensics team does not come up with anything concrete to establish any foul play.

The case is the second one in which Maureen Lyons and Mick Hays are working together. Michael is an ambitious man looking to build a strong team of investigators that can beat any other investigative team in the whole of Ireland. He draws on the individual skills of each of his team members skillfully. Lyons is also known to be an efficient detective, who has the habit of arriving at the right place at the right moment. As the investigation continues further, the investigative team is drawn into Ireland’s darker side, including its deadly gangs, the criminal underworld, and desperate men with shady dealings.

Hello there — this is a “stab in the dark” to use a timeworn but crimebooks-relevant cliche since a.) your comments were 2 years ago and my request/probe is quite obscure — In any event, I am reading :”The Deadly Dividend” the first book in th Dublin series and I feel I’ve read it before, perhaps under another name; or it was made into a film or TV series ;or, perish the thought, someone has plagarized the plot and theme of the book which I knd of doubt, Any thoughts or insights?
