Initially, Ethan had served in the Marines before he became a journalist. His former commanding officer describes Nathan as a person who possesses the special skills for successfully executing a successful mission. Ethan’s commanding officer now works for a black ops organization known as DIA (the Defense Intelligence Agency). Lucy Morgan happens to be the granddaughter of Ethan’s former commanding officer. The former commanding officer wants Ethan to head to Israel so that he can locate Lucy. This is mainly because, Ethan had worked in Israel before when he was still a journalist.
