Deany Ray
Deany Ray was born and raised in Romania (Transylvania, to be more precise), and moved to Germany when she was 21 years old and ever since has called Cologne her home. She continues to hear mentions of Dracula and vampires, and all that, however she thinks that is all just a bunch of hooey. Just keep any wooden stakes far away from her, alright?

She has always wanted to become a writer so she decided that it was time to just take the plunge and dive right into it. She loves writing cozy mysteries, since this is what she enjoys reading the most.

Deany is not a native English speaker, so her proofreader and editor make sure that her novels do not sound like baloney. Basically, she merely wants to put out some good, entertaining stories out for people to enjoy.

Her favorite activities include going to the movie theater, traveling, having cooking sessions with her awesome mother, and meeting up with her friends.

“A Sweet Chunk of Madness” is the first novel in the “Ouna Bay Cozy Mystery” series and was released in 2015. The Blue Bay Cafe (Becky’s pastry shop) is pretty popular among the natives of Ouna Bay, and among the tourists that pass by. However Becky’s life gets turned upside down once somebody puts their eye on her beloved Blue Bay Cafe.

However who would want her to give her cafe up? And most importantly of all, why? Could the handsome, new man in Becky’s life have anything at all to do with it?

While things heat up further and sinister events become the norm, Becky chooses to take things into her own hands.

Join Becky and Rosalie (her best friend) while they attempt to get to the bottom of this mystery and stop all the madness.

“Jammed” is the first novel in the “Charlie Cooper Mystery” series and was released in 2016. Charlie Cooper: Grew up in Springston, just 90 miles away from Boston, yet still not far enough. Underpaid precinct secretary at the Boston Police. Weekend plans include: crime shows, toffee caramel ice cream, and the Laundromat. No hobbies, no pets, and no friends. Special gifts: tripping over her own feet. Healthy diet: all things sweet and cookies. Finding Mr. Right: nope.

Charlie Cooper, by the age of 29, is not exactly a hit at this point in her life. Working as a precinct secretary at the Boston Police answering phones, making appointments, and typing crime reports up means that she may not be on the fast track to working her ultimate dream job. And her living situation? She’s the proud inhabitant of the most minuscule “master suite” that she is able to pay, where she is able to get her clothes out of the dresser drawer, brush her teeth, and turn the hallway light on without even getting out of bed.

However once this job opportunity arises, she is ready to take the bull by the horns and prove that she is much more than just a fast typist. Sure she must bite the bullet by heading back to her hometown and living with her wacky family. However this is just the cover for her actual assignment: finding clues that involve a major drug case.

What begins as harmless snooping becomes a pile of corpses, slashed tires, and some threatening notes. However Charlie’s bound and determined to solve this case and catch this killer before he can catch her. Throw in a couple fearless waitresses and one hot fry cook that isn’t what he appears to be and you’ve got this perfect mix of a fast paced and exciting mystery.

“Hot Off the Press” is the first novel in the “Hailey Webb Mystery” series and was released in 2020. Starting over can be deadly.

After Hailey Webb (28 years old) made a few life-altering changes, lands a job as an errand runner/assistant for the local newspaper in her hometown of Palm Shores, California. If she knew that this meant stumbling upon dead bodies, then she…probably would have still taken the job. A girl’s got to eat, yeah? How long can somebody last on a steady of just ramen noodles?

When she finds this dead treasure hunter on his boat during her first day on the job, she realizes that yeah, things certainly can get far worse than she’d imagined. And if that were not bad enough, Hailey gets confronted with some events from her past that she would much rather forget. After they start to gain on her, she knows that she must solve this murder in order to get to the answers that she needs.

So thankfully, she has got Kat (her best friend) to help her, and Mike (the reporter) who’s just too darn good looking for what Hailey needs at the moment.

“Coming in Hot” is the first novel in the “Piper Harris Mystery” series and was released in 2023. Beginning a new life in Florida means beautiful beaches, balmy breezes, and year-round sunshine. For most people, at least.

But not for Piper (a thirty-something) and her grandma, who are both former members of a motorcycle gang in Oregon. For them, it means entering into the witness protection program and moving to Bitter End in the Sunshine State. Yes, to Bitter End. Doesn’t get much more ironic than this. Hey, it sure beats rotting in jail for getting busted with money laundering and tax evasion, and infinitely better than getting murdered by said gang for testifying against them.

Needless to say, they both have got difficulties adjusting to living in Florida. Wearing flip flops instead of biker boots? Moving into this retirement community and dealing with so many quirky characters? Where can you even hide your gun when you are wearing those horrible muumuu dresses? Not to mention, they are supposed to be keeping everything on the right side of the law now? Yuck.

Oh, and there is this dead body in their neighbor’s front yard. Piper and her Gran, rather than laying low, somehow get sucked into this murder mystery. Once they realize that they are in too deep and their cover is about to get blown, they have no other choice but to track down this killer before time runs out.
