Debbie De Louise is a critically acclaimed and award-winning novelist of mystery and romance fiction. Aside from her writing, she works a day job as a reference librarian at a Long Island public library. She is very much involved in writer organizations and is a member of the Long Island Author’s Group, International Thriller Writers, Cat Writers Association, and Sisters in Crime. Louise got a bachelor’s degree in English and then went to Long Island University, from where she graduated with an MLS in Library Science. She wrote the paranormal romance “Cloudy Rainbow” and then made it big with the “Cobble Cove” cozy mystery series of novels. She has also written a romantic comedy novel and has several short stories and articles in a variety of genres. Apart from her series of mysteries, she has written several standalone mysteries and won second place in the Readers Favorite contest for her novel “Sea Scope.” She has also published her articles in the Tufts University Veterinary Newsletter colloquially known as “Catnip” and several others in Cats Magazine. Debbie currently lives with Anthony her husband, Holly her daughter and their three cats on Long Island.

De Louise has always loved writing and reading and growing up, she always wanted to emulate her favorite authors. As a child, she was entranced by gothic romance authors such as Victoria Holt and Phyllis Whitney. She wrote almost every novel they had written when she was a teenager and soon after also started reading Rita Mae Brown, Shirley Rousseau Murphy, and Carole Nelson Douglas who wrote cozy cat mysteries. She is still a voracious reader and loves to read the likes of Mary Higgins Clark and Nora Roberts. Debbie loves to read books that combine romance, mystery, and a twist since she also loves writing such stories. Given how much she loved reading and her admiration for authors, she started writing when she was very young. She loved telling stories and by the time she was in high school she was writing short stories in her notebooks. However, it was not until she got some of her articles published in cat magazines during the 1990s that she thought of herself as a writer. The editor of the anthology “Cat Crimes Through Time” gave her the first big break by publishing her debut short fiction story “Stitches in Time.”

In her twenties, Debbie De Louise started writing short fiction and full-length novels in notebooks given that computers were not yet popular. It was during this time that she penned a letter to Phyllis Whitney, her fellow Long Islander and her favorite author at the time. She asked for some advice from the gothic romance author and Phyllis wrote back words of encouragement to the budding author. Unfortunately, she lost the note when she was moving but would publish her first paranormal romance “Cloudy Rainbow” a few years later. The novel was inspired by the passing on of her fifteen-year-old cat that had kidney complications. She was inspired to write a story about her cat and ended up writing about her experiences in college, where she had been so good that she had won an award for her feature writing. Debbie did not want to publish it but her husband persuaded her to go for it and if she thought the process too much hassle then she could self-publish. While she did not set so many copies of her first work given that she was very inexperienced in marketing and did not have the networks, it gave her the motivation to continue writing. The novel would then be published and reprinted to be released in 2018.

Debbie De Louis’s novel “A Stone’s Throw” is an enthralling mystery about Alicia Fairmont, a librarian that needs answers after her husband was the victim of a fatal hit and run accident. She travels to Cobble Cove, New York where he was born, hoping to find out something about his past. Fairmont thought she would only stay for a weekend but ends up staying longer when she gets a job at the local library. The secrets she unearths go back decades and with the help of John McKinney an aspiring novelist and handsome paper publisher, she learns that there is a secret her dead husband’s father has kept for more than six decades. But she is forced to cut short her investigation when she gets news that there has been a suspected arson back home and her house has been reduced to ashes. She heads back to Long Island, even as cryptic clues are unearthed in Cobble Cove. When she gets back in town, she finds confiscated letters. A strange diary and a digital audio device that had a recording that has the date of the day her husband met his death. She starts getting anonymous notes warning her to get out of town but the mystery is getting juicier and she has increasingly been getting attracted to John. But the more she investigates, the more the evidence points to John having something to do with her husband’s death.

In the novel “Between a Rock and a Hard Place,” De Louise follows Alicia McKinney who is putting the past in her rearview mirror after finding lasting love with John McKinney and learning about a terrible truth. She is now a co-author of a mystery series and mother to twins. Alicia’s safety and contentment come under threat when she realizes that someone is stalking her when is walking back home from the library. Things get even scarier when the small gift shop in town is robbed and there is unrest in town which is something that has not happened in a long time. Alicia and John are overwhelmed by the happenings and hence when his sister offers to babysit while they go on vacation, they take it with both hands. While Alicia has reservations given the happenings in the small town John tells her that the children will be safe. But then Alicia has her worst nightmare come true when they get the news that their children have been kidnapped and John’s sister seriously injured after she was shot. John and Alicia’s question puts them in a tough situation and now they are in a race against time to find their children.

“Written in Stone” by Debbie De Louise opens to Alicia McKinney confused after she starts thinking of the strange email her husband had received. They had survived a murder and kidnapping attempt and had been living in peace when they start receiving strange emails and text messages. It seems a character they had written about in the cozy mystery series has come to life and intends to kill Alicia. When their editor comes into town, things go haywire as Sneaky their cat disappears and the editor turns up dead. While they are waiting for the killer to make his next move, Alicia is preoccupied with other concerns as John’s old flame has come into town. Meanwhile, Gilly her friend has decided to become an amateur sleuth and wants to help in the police investigation. The clues they are unearthing point to one of her co-workers forcing Alicia to join in looking to find answers to a huge mystery that will threaten their very lives.
